Never overestimate the weather. It can get bad fast.
underestimate**
Jay it's Eric! I was in South Carolina today waiting to deliver, the middle bay was clear, this cop pulled in the spot, this not-so SWIFT driver just backed in without paying attention and crunch! I have it all on video too! I was late for my delivery, I was laughing so hard.
Here is a secret with the idle function… if you pull your trailer knob out but leave the tractor knob in it won’t shut down.
Glad you got into a company that you wanted. Stay safe out here brother.
Good habit to get into is always check your weather app the day before.
You do a great job Jay
Try not to doubt yourself... Congratulations on new job
If anything that you learned as a Boy Scout, Explorer Scout, Eagle Scout and the military.
You should always be prepared.
Always be ready for anything tha comes your way, you have no idea what's around the corner. Always be prepared
Thanks for sharing
The cupholder phone mount works for the freightliner pretty well
I’m going next month to get my CDL and I assure you that when I get in my own truck I will not drive if I feel to unsafe.
I started driving back in 2012 , and we were taught always carry inclement weather clothing
You sound happy! Stay safe out there and stay warm!💪🏽👍🏼
If you don't feel safe driving due to the weather, pull over and stop until conditions improve. No amount of freight is worth your life.
Safety first man that load will get delivered when it does if you don’t feel safe doing it allways listen to yourself keep safe driver
Looking forward great 👍 truck 😊
Stay warm my friend. God bless you. 🙏🙏🙏🇺🇲🇺🇲
Anytime your in the actual sleeper log sleeper berth unless u have the full wrap curtains then u can extend the sleeper berth to the whole cab. Anytime u leave the truck to shower or get food log off duty
Hi Jay, have you watched big rig Becca? She's a Cascadia and will probably help you out with were things are in the cab. I know what it's like when you're used to another make and jump Into something that you never been in. Hope it helps 👍
Think I got out of Minnesota just in time lol, it snowed just before I got in there and I got unloaded, reloaded and now I'm back in warmer weather lol.
Hey Jay parking is the smartest move. Nothing in the trailer is worth your life or somebody else life. Stay safe
I kept driving
As a driver trainer I always said it’s up toyou driver if your comfortable to drive , drive. If not don’t.. safe travels.
The abs is a freightliner fuse problem. Learn the fuse and remember it.
Hello there.
I enjoy your vlog man.
Greetings from the Netherlands ravenstein.
You have to go into the radio screen on the dash that's how you change songs
Funny shit, I’m OTR right now & I brought hella cold weather shit & I’ve been in 80+ degree weather the whole time 😂😂 I feel you dawg
You have to scroll right you will see stream press ok then you can press right again to switch between songs
Hence the nickname "freightshaker".
You can be off duty in the truck. When your front curtains are closed, then the whole cab is considered Sleeper Berth! But you don't have to go to Sleeper unless you choose or in the Berth!
Good luck
Put your truck in performance mode push the end where the shifter is. Use your Jake you should only use brakes in town. Even then I barely use my brakes. You can definitely tell you’re a rookie. Lol that shit isn’t even bad put your big boy pants on. Lol and be careful putting trailer brakes on in that weather you don’t want your trailer brakes to freeze.
hey jay use the left controls on the steering wheel to move your speedometer over to media and then whatever your using bluetooth or sirus xm or radio and then use the same left controls to skip songs or stations
He will figure it out, just takes time.
Funny driving down 30 past wis dells. I always pass it. I live in Wisconsin
Be safe my boi and you got a freight Shaker now 🤔
Ignore the trolls Jay. I, along with many others, look forward to your vids!
Looking good in big Blue bro be safe , brother I am from Minnesota and we welcome you to the cold state 😂 anyway I hope to meet up when I get there be safe brother.
I like the new intro.
Give us more background on your meeting with Alex. You mentioned it on your live stream, but you didn't seem too fond of him. 😂
“Hold the volume to skip the song but it just got louder” 😂😭😭 that one made me laugh
So when you stop and eat lunch and stuff like that - I believe you hit just the on duty button in samsara and it’ll automatically start counting the 30 minute break.
Ya if your out of the truck it’s off duty but when your there just resting it’s sleeper bro
They used to call em Freight shakers lol
I would love to come there to be a truck driver
what app do you use for weather and stuff like that?
What fridge does GP provide you with?
Would GP let you remove the passenger side seat for more room?
If you don't feel safe driving, even just a little bit. Don't drive. No load is worth it. Put it in a message on your on board system of your trucks computer to the company. Then if they still try to force you to drive. The DOT can come down on them, not you.
I see you’re in Morris IL
it's a bad fuse...common on freightliner
The ABS thing is normal I think. I'm at Crete and every newer freightliner I've had the abs light come on and off. Freightliners have got to be the most uncomfortable truck I've driver. I don't like the seat position to the steering wheel and pedals and the seats are rock hard if you don't have a cushion
nice
Put your 4 ways on when you're backing man
there was a wreck at yardstick 107. real bad 10-42. is what he said.
Does company pay for reserved parking. I heard they do
26 psi sounds bit on the low side.
at 12 minute range, did that guy voiped you? XD??
Hey bro it’s still not summer.😂😂
The Peterbilt and the Kenworth do drive better but your cascadia has a lot more room inside
I know i know but it really wasn't that bad out there. Lol
Dude you wearing shorts... you do know your in Illinois right... not joplin Missouri
Do you need any endorsements to drive for GP?
@AlexTheTruckingGuy I hope you two will find each other one day
Crete my old company.
I bet the Freightliner just has a different gear ratio that’s probably more for fuel efficiency
Adding to that most companies are gonna gear between 2.64 and 3.08.
Taller gears mean lower RPMs at cruise. You won’t climb mountains fast but overall fuel mileage is better
yeah i stay around 55-58 and consistently get 9.5-10 mpg
Gp is ok company the more drivers they hire the less work that's goes around they don't have much loads going around the market is slow as hell
GP Transco was your next step? I’m going to stay tuned to see how you do there. I’m at Cheeseman, I show every pay statement on my channel. Six figures, W-2, no shortage of freight. It’s important to find a company with good culture, home time, equipment, and compensation. I’m interested to learn your opinions of GP Transco.
Midlife trucker Hook us up with a recruiter ....and do they train ?
Pass gear reset every 8 hours
Can't believe you didn't know about sleeper birth status... haha. Thought that one was a no-brainer lmao.
But either way it doesn't really matter if you're in "sleeper" or "Off-duty" since they're in a way the same thing, just as long as you're not violating HOS. Stay safe, driver.
I knew about sleeper berth status but apparently they aren’t the same thing if you get out of the truck your supposed to switch to off duty even if you go in to the bathroom
@@RidingWithJay well yes that’s what they want you to do, but really they’re both “OFF DUTY” statuses. I’ve put of habit left myself on sleeper multiple times when I went on home time and nobody said a damn thing to me ever, and I wasn’t in any HOS violations. 🤣
is it still a good time to get out on the road ?
As a company driver sure I wouldn’t buy a truck right now tho
Wow you need to call someone to teach you how to log.
I’m beginning to think GP hires steering wheel holders.
@@keiths4109 it’s funny when dudes call other people steering wheel holders when they’re doing the exact same job
@@pridemizzle1565 I’ve been driving for 30 years there is more to driving a truck than doing videos and being scared of rain and snow.
@@keiths4109 you got soft hands brother. You’re not that guy pal.
@@donavan953 😂 I’m not your pal.
Bro bro bro. 🤣🤣
I thought GP Transco only fuels at Pilot truck stop according from Alex the trucking guy?
Any tractor trailers can fuel anywhere
@@matthewtaliaferro not when your company tells you where to fuel.
@@matthewtaliaferro yes but some companies tells drivers to only fuel at a certain fuel station
They changed to loves 2 weeks ago
If youre that scared of a little snow. Hang up the keys boy
On duty not driving if you’re just going to eat and coming back to drive.
What’s the pay like there
They start at like 58cpm for OTR. And you can average 2750-3000 miles or more (some drivers can reach 4k miles), depending on how much you want to work.
Why didn't you lock in your differential you know why didn't you go four-wheel-drive lol
This comment makes no sense, if your asking why I didn’t lock my diff I knew it wasn’t bad enough as long as I kept my torque low
@@RidingWithJay you're the onewho mentioned it, if you had locked in you wouldn't have to worry. Just as a precaution
@@smartass5599you can't lock the diff at highway speed it'll overheat and damage your driveline
@@truckercowboyed2638 he's in the parking lot
Jay, you texted me saying you don't want to work for me? I haven't got any work for you my nephew and his friend have filled the job I had for you. I'm not handling mid-west shipment right now and you didn't want east coast N-S traffic. I've got 7 months before I turn my attention away from trucking, at that point I will finally be a success at a career I will have done for 38 years. The deal I made to you got your attention, you can stay in touch if you want? Like I said though, I wish you good luck and don't play in tornado alley! You got my # text and say hi once in a while. My little company has made both me and my partner very well off! I can say I will retire a millionaire! Keep safe nice haircut btw!
It’s not a power reason for why thé FL is slower, or climbs hills worse. It’s the gearing, they gear for fuel economy; not top speed or climbing advantages.
I don't know why they gave you an old sucked out freightliner when they could have given you a new one
Most have you prove yourself and also to make sure you're actually going to stay on, why would they give a new truck especially if a driver has a habit of leaving jobs??....
I think from his previous videos he mentioned he was offered a brand new international or an old freightliner .. obviously he chose the old freightliner
No, that's ABSOLUTELY not true. Read the FMCSA for yourself. According to an actual FMCSA auditor, I asked that exact question because a DOT cop tried that sht with me.
Sleeper birth is an off dyluty status. The reg that they keep giving is a "definition" of sleeper birth, NOT how it's calculated. That being said, you're a company driver, so you should do as they want you to. Most DOT officers try to "interpret" the FMCSA to meet whatsoever they want.
Nope sleeper berth is in the bunk, if you're on the front seat your off duty ....it does actually matter.... technically if you have to get up to use the bathroom or something you're supposed to switch to off duty then switch back when you return to the bunk....
To those who like to Monday Morning Quarterback....🖕🖕you do you.. we'll see you around
You always go into sleep birth, if not driving it's off duty not driving
Incorrect off duty is for when you aren’t in the truck
Just painful to watch I don't know who trained you but anytime you get into a truck you need to prepared for anything in any weather I don't blame you for not knowing I blame your trainer for not teaching you right not being prepared out here can cost you your life I broke down one time and I had coveralls I had blankets I had coats still within a matter of minutes it got so cold in my truck I was cold luckily I had a CB in my truck and I called for help buy another truck driver to get me to a truck stop because it was going to be like 4 hours before a tow company got to me I would have Frozen be prepared
Be careful you acting like a top gun and your going to have a wreck and it’s dumb
just find it funny how you copy RWD (riding with Dave) Content and similar style XD how Cringe 💀
This guy seems to know what he’s doing way more than alex. Not as nervous which is a plus.
