For the love of plastic, please do not scrape off the headlights. It will destroy them and limit the range at night. Get a cheap spray bottle and some -30 windshield wiper fluid and use it to spray on and melt the ice before wiping it off. It works for the wipers too. I usually turn the headlights on and turn on the highbeams and while I am doing my walk around it warms the headlights and helps to clear the ice and snow off. Have a happy and safe new year out there.
Kevin is more professional then 80 percent of drivers out there. Or more.. I been driving 17years, n need more drivers out there like him. 👍 keep doing what your doing Kevin n u n your wife be safe.. ❤️ the channel. Wishing u2 safe travels, n God be with u2.. keep posting.

When I was driving my International Eagle back in the early 80’s I carried hand warmers with me to clear wipers and lights and used Prestone windshield wash green color that melts the ice on windshield and helped keep wipers clear .

If you apply Rain-x to the headlight covers, it will make removing ice much easier. (and you windshield and windows too). Apply it often to get a layer of protection.
I drive for roehl and my company shut me down during the storm in Cleveland I was stuck at a rest area for a day but I was able to make it home on Christmas Eve drive safe guys❤
Pull your wipers on their ends and place on the windshield. They won't freeze to it. Easier to sweep/scrape when not having to dodge the blades. Enjoying your vlogs! 😊❤
I’m from Cali so I almost never see snow .. so I’ve been driving in the snow now 🤦🏻♂️ and going through the snow in a Truck that size is no joke man .. kind of scary at times .. I feel you Tanya when you say you see another truck go by makes you feel a little better 😂
Need some Prestone or Rain X spray on deicer. Hopefully you'll find the warmer weather we are now experiencing after last weekend's freezing temperatures. We've been in the 50's here in our portion of Pa. Last week was single digits. Stay safe. Happy New Year.
We had a semi at work that i use to drive around the plant. The trailer was triple wide to haul large excavators they built to a test site in the yard and to take the off road mining trucks from one building to another for teardown and paint, then on to shipping. Once i had to hook up to a low boy with the chassis not chained down and the yard was very ruff and uneven just to get it out of the way.
Thanks for your videos over the holiday and from the winter storm. I smiled when I saw the CFI truck and trailer. That’s my new company. I drove from west of Denver to Chambersburg, PA between Monday and Thursday before Christmas and made it home on the 24th in Northern VA. Stayed in front of the storm until it caught up with me west of Wheeling WV. Last day of travel on the 23rd was brutal in western PA. Went back out on the 30th so was blessed to have 6 days off with family for Xmas. Keep up with the great content. Your channel is one of my GoTo’s when I’m parked like I am in Charlottesville NC tonight.
I like that your videos are brief, time wise. My dad was an intra state truck driver for many years. He had hauled petroleum and concrete. He wanted me to go school and do something other than truck driving. So I sell truck and trailer parts at a business in Green Bay Wisconsin. I do like your videos and I'm sharing them with my wife.
get a spray bottle of isoproyl alchohol, and a few other to dump into tha washer fluid resvoir. but instead if scraping that ice just spray it with that alcohol. wont damage the wind shield wipers or anything!!!
FIRST...two days in a row!! Well done!! We wish you a Happy New Year as well and hope that your foot is completely healed up so you can do some great dancing in 2023!!
In Canada we dont call that a BIG winter storm, we would call that some ice on the roads. There is no heavy snow and only about an inch or two on the ground. Thanks for your service.
Just wait till the battery trucks and snow plows come out. You'll be stopping and waiting in line to charge at least twice going up the mountain (assuming the batteries haven't taken a sh*t due to the cold), and we'll all be eating bugs for the 3 months before we ultimately end up starving to death while breathing that cleaner air.
I was hauling empty aluminum cans from Worland Wyoming to Los Angeles over WY 28 between US 191 and US 287. Looked just like your roads except WY 28 is only two lanes. Much of it is high plains and the wind was blowing the snow over the ice covered highway much like sand in the desert. The only good thing was chains weren't required.
Kevin you are doing an excellent job driving in the ice and snow. Sure hope you get to feeling better soon. Tonya you do a excellent job on the video showing the country side. Hope you Guys where some place nice and warm for New Year’s. Be safe and catch up with you later.
Get yourself a spray bottle and fill it with a mix of antifreeze, snow melt or salt, alcohol and some water. Spray on wipers and headlights and melt that crap off
Great way to break the glass. I'd just fire up the defrost and let it melt. Hot water on glass is a terrible idea. (Unless you wish to change the window on the spot).
Drove thru WV on the 22nd so it was fine to KY. Stayed night in the KY and it hit that night. Just say it was a mess until getting out of KY on the 23rd on I64. Indiana was somewhat better and IL was luckily fine.
Ya the ice is no joke.Kevin what I’ve been doing is I let my truck idle with the defroster on the front windshield so it doesn’t let the ice build up on the windshield wipers & when the headlights stay on it doesn’t allow for the ice to build up on the outside lens of the headlights.Do you ever chain ⛓️ up in those conditions 🤔??Drive safe out there
Sounds like much of Christmas and New Years week was nothing like you invisioned. Sorry about all that , many off the large carriers are the same just deliver freight and little to non existence careing of drivers. We can be replaced in a matter of hours or days . Wondering if y'all have ever considered an owner operator company not necessarily landstar but something similar? Of course it brings its own set of difficulties and challenges, however typically a business minded owner can do well financially and control one's freight lanes and hometime as well . Just now with slow freight and low freight rates let alone the US economy and cost of equipment ect ... might not be the optimal time to begin such endeavors. Just food for thought, hopefully you both feel better soon and get home for much deserved rest. May you enjoy a blessed, joyful, healthy and prosperous New Year!
Yea i think it was total crap. I'm in Orlando. I have to walk my pooch every morning at 6am. It was supposed to be 20⁰ the two days in a row at 6am. There was dew on the grass and windows, but no ice anywhere. I'm a Floridian born and raised. I only had on slip on shoes, pajama shorts for the poochs walk. I call total B.S.

Any hacks or tips to help with ice billed up on your truck? I don't know, maybe wiping mineral oil or cooking nonstick on headlight lens, wiper blades? Any hoot, Happy New Year and save travels. Spinning wheels in snow. The sudden stop as it gains traction can snap teeth of the halfshaft and ruin the diff.

How do you like the automated transmission in the snow ?
It’s not a good sign when your the only truck on the road. I drive and I wouldn’t be driving. Yikes
Can you use the jakes going down hill?
No!!! Not in ice and snow! Your trailer could overtake you and you could jackknife. Stab-break instead.
