Thank you for a wonderful color and chat, I truly enjoyed watching you color with the Neocolor I's. I've been thinking of purchasing them to use for my backgrounds and the Derwent blender and Zest it do a great job of blending. It's videos like this that help me decide whether or not I will buy a product! As for the chat part of the video I loved it, I always enjoy listening to what you have to say🙂 I do hope your June is going smoothly and with the least amount of stress. Looking forward to your next video!🤗
Thanks for this! Was a lot of fun to see you using the crayons as well as both blenders, and as always you're a joy to listen to. Looks like a really fun and easy alternative to wet mediums on papers that can't handle the water.
I used the Derwent blender pen on the Bambino crayons last weekend. It worked well and allowed me to create a blended background. Tombow blender is water based so won’t blend these.
I don’t have anyone to share my coloring with either. That’s why I join several coloring groups. It’s nice to share your work. I also became friends with one of the women on the design team for Spectrum noir. She help me a lot when I first started. I’m also a card marker and so is she we send each other cards for holidays. She’s in the Netherlands and I’m in USA. Wonderful person.
This page is sooo cute! 🐭💗 Thank you so much for the lovely kind mention❤ Such a nice surprise, xx You've really tempted me to try my neo 1's out with a blender, I'm ashamed to say I've had a 30 pack of these in a drawer for years, and never used them, so this is the best video, now I know I can try to use something that I've had stashed and unloved for so long. Curious to see how well a pencil might work over these? once blended? Either way, I'm definitely thinking they will be amazing for Amazon paper backgrounds👍 Super video, I love listening to you, x ❤
@@electrichen6243 Actually, since I've written this I have had a bit of an experiment with these, and as long as you make sure you really dissolve the wax with the blender, all of my pencils seemed fine working over the top, amazing really. Derwent blender was best though, I tried an alcohol pen and some zest it, they weren't as good, and then you have more issues working over. 👍Great technique from "K" 💗
Aww thanks so much Wendy, I love your videos very much too and watch every single one. At the moment I’m so busy with external marking and school that I’ve had little time for anything else including colouring. Can’t wait until I get more time. Hello K! Hope you are doing well and having a lovely and healthy week 🥰 thank you so much for these colour alongs and I really enjoy listening to you 🥰
Oh K I am so so glad you have done this video!!! I love using my crayola crayons for backgrounds - I honestly believe its a hidden unused treasure & SOO affordable. I think the reason why many don't use them or avoid is possibly due to the wax, smell, not lightfast etc. Obviously they're not lightfast, give the same lay down as gel crayons or the neos I or II - but with practice and patience, you can really get some lovely backgrounds / effects and still use pencil on top! I usually don't use blender pens as I am heavy handed AND defo would kill the nib, but Zest It blend or Gamsol works a treat. I use either stumps, cotton buds or a very thin paint brush to blend out and break down the wax pigment! This little mouse has turned out so so cute (Even though in real life I am freaked out by them 🤫) Thank you for taking the time to make again another fantastic video and providing us with tricks and ways to use our mediums! 😍 AND PS. When you made you're comment on Wendy @happilyhandmadedelights, thats how I see you, Wendy & Sammie @colourandchatwithsammie - You ladies are inspirational colourists / artists each in your own way! (As are many others too!) but believe me K how you bring the magic to each one of your pages its amazing to see! Thankyou for sharing as always. Thankyou so much K,I mistakenly bought the large set of these Neo’s 12 months or more ago instead of the 2’s n I had no idea what to do with them consequently I’ve never used them so Thankyou I now know how to use them n they look incredible 👍🏻❤️
What a cute little guy, thank you for showing us the process you used with the crayons and the blender pens. I would love to see the video on how you finish it if you're up for that.
I absolutely love the end result with the Neocolor I, it works really quick as well, I will certainly buy me a set in combination with the Derwent blenders. Thank you for this color along, it was great again. You asked what we were working on, I am currently coloring a page out of the New book by Lenka Filonenko called Fairy Bliss, I call the page Mother Earth, because it has a beautiful woman with flowers and branches in het hair with an earth globe in front of her belly and two foxes as her companions. I love this coloring page, so stunning, I love seing her come to life with each pencil layer I give to her. I hope you have a really nice weekend dear K with lots of relaxation and coloring, greetings Jessica Roks 🥰💜
Your picture is turning out great! Thank you for the demonstration with the NC I crayons! I’m tempted to buy some now. 😂 I received the RJ Hampson Dragon book earlier this week! I purchased it as I thought that the perfect theme for using lots of metallic and glitter effects! 😍 I’ve started the Chinese dragon page first with the Cherry Blossoms!
Great video! I actually have the derwent blender pen set for years and if they still working ill def try this technique with other crayons i own and see how it goes! Ty very much 💖🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I just received the Neo Color 1s and Morgan O’Brien’s new Matchstick Mouse Floral coloring book for my birthday, and I can’t wait to try them out. Thanks for the demonstration. I need to try the Derwent blender pens. I have Zest it and Gamsol. I have used Gamsol to blend Bambino crayons, so either that or the Zest it should work. I will have to get the metallic ones. The picture is adorable.
Thanks for the video & demo of the blenders. For pencils I find I like the Prismacolor blender best. Maybe Im not using the CD one right. I find myself wanting to chat with you, responding as if Im there haha. I miss bits all the time, annoys me. Right now Im working on the astronaut in WwWs. Following My Colourful Country Life’s video on it. Ive added metallic watercolors on top of the pencil work here & there. I bought a very inexpensive set of 36 for $16! Theyre awesome for $16! Your talking “nonsense” is just you having a conversation with us. Haha. No need for apologies. Looks like fireflies or cotton-balls in the jar. But yeah you kept it mysterious which is more interesting.
Thanks for the vid on neo1, been wanting to see what there like. I find a clear alchol blender like the arteza markers that come in a 4 pack work just as well as the berwent blender and it works out alot cheaper x
@@ColouringwithK i've also seen a couple of you tube vids where they use the neo2 loke a crayon and use a couple of coats of fixitive spray and the neo2 won't move
I purchased 7 of these to try and so far no luck with anything that works on blending them. I have tried dove blender pen, baby oil, OMS, and nothing seems to break down the wax. I even tried alcohol as a last resort :(
Hi, I don’t buy new blender pens anymore. To refill the dry ones, I just place the pen, nib down in a glass tumbler, containing Glycerin (bought from the Chemists) Hope this helps. 💜💜💜🇬🇧
I love both crayons but they do feel different. The Neo i’s have the slight edge as there are more colours available and they’re easier to hold than the Bambino but I still love the Bambino’s x
I am wondering if It would be okay when my Derwent blender for colored pencils goes dry, to try and wet it with some Zest it? I was thinking of dipping it into the wetted sponge of Zest it? What do you think? I would like to hope it would be less expensive than replacing my Derwent Blender pens every time they go dry. Let me know. Thanks!
Fabulous colouring. What is in the blender pen? Is it water or alcohol or something else? Are they just for use on crayons? I've been really naughty and ordered 4 more colouring books that are coming tomorrow. 4 ones by Lulu Mayo. I saw the new neo colour sets on Instagram. Someone asked if they are new colours and the reply was no. I look forward to your shiny video 😃 I think the jar has fireflies in it and that's what he's catching. So the jar and flies would be sparkly. Xxx
Thank you! Enjoy your new books, we all have to splash out a little now and again, as long as it makes you smile and happy. I think the blender pen (Derwent) has a zest-it type blender fluid in it, to help blend waxy mediums. Take care x
I know what you mean about getting older and wearing glasses. Once I hit my forties, my eyesight really changed and its been down hill ever since. Just before I sat down to watch you I cleaned my glasses so I could see what I am doing. Normally, I colour along while watching UA-cam. At the moment I am working on a picture from 2020 Fairies, Mermaids and Witches by Yuneya Nachmetdinova, (Jenoviya art). I love the derwent blender pens they work really well on wax bases pencils ect. However, they are quite expensive, so I now have a glass jar with cotton balls soaked with a similar solution and use tortillions. You can buy the solution here in Chemist and hardware stores. Print manufactures use this solution to clean off ink residue. I wish I could tell you the name but my Fibromyalagia is affecting my memory. It will come to me. This pay coming pay day I am buying my set of neo 1's. Which I am looking forward to. *Note: It is Isopropryhol alcohol. I knew I would remember. Lol.
I got the Mousestick Mouse books for my birthday they are adorable. Thanks for sharing. I have blender markers but I’m not sure how to use them. Can the ends be cleaned? I also have Zest It so this helps on how to use them all.
@@ColouringwithK if you try it, could u let me know?! I want to buy them, but I've seen several videos in which they seem a little hard on the hands, and I have arthritis plus some smells trigger migraines, but I can tolerate alcohol!
Because the paper is so thin, I cannot dissolve the pigment with water as the paper would buckle too much. That is not the case when using Neo I and using Zest it or a blender pen to dissolve the wax.

Could those crayons be blended with brush wetted in rubbing alcohol?
Possibly, in theory I would expect so as they are wax based and so an organic solvent should blend the pigments, worth trying. I might try it!

Why did you chose Neo 1s over Neo 2s? Especially as you are using these like the Neo 2s lol.
Because the paper is so thin, I cannot dissolve the pigment with water as the paper would buckle too much. That is not the case when using Neo I and using Zest it or a blender pen to dissolve the wax.
Do the Neocolor I’s transfer onto the opposite page and do they feel oily?
No they don’t feel oily and have so far not transferred to the other page, but I would put a paper in between, just in case!
