Cute little page, 💗🐭 Totally agree with you on the chromoflows, they are nice pencils, but they have their issues, price being the main one. Its pine wood in these pencils, apparently it is supposed to be better for softer core pencils, which is why they have used it. (I'm not thinking it was good idea really) Wish they had stuck to their normal wood though, and the thicker style. I do like the feel of them, and used with other sets they are great. 👍
Thanks Wendy, oh I didn’t know they’d used pine for the wood casing, I prefer the wood they have used in the other pencils. If I’m not mistaken, pine is also cheaper so I would’ve expected the pencils to be cheaper as a result. Anyway, I have been using them and they are nice, like the pigment intensity and blending capability. Also, good on darker paper. Enjoy your half term holiday and have fun xx
Lovely work K. I keep wondering about these pencils, but like you I think they are priced too high. I'm using Derwent Drawing Pencils just now and they are really lovely, just wish there were more colours. Working on a page in R J Tampons new book Dragon Dreams, it's a fabulous book, who would have thought someone of my age would love dragons!. Take care of yourself 💖
This page is so cute! I agree with you, they need to come down in price and be available open stock in other places. Other than that, they’re a lovely pencil
Hi K ! It's Nice to see you again! These Books are Absolutely Beautiful, I can't hardly wait to see your Finished Picture. Thank You so much for Sharing, have a Wonderful Week 💜
Thanks for letting me know that they’re now available open stock on Cult pens, that’s good. They are expensive though, but I do really like them. You could buy a few open stock every now and again and build up your collection. 😊
I am always looking for this "in between a Polychromos and Prismacolor"....people say Holbeins are that but I'm not gonna spend THAT kind of money. So they do tempt me in that regard.
Completely agree with you K, regarding quality, not the way they lay down as they do beautifully, I was just shocked how much thinner & lighter they are than my other Derwent pencils. Coloursoft have always been my favourites & Derwent in general. But I do prefer a thicker barrel
Hi Rach, I do like the Chromaflow but they just don’t have the feel of a more expensive pencil, certainly not a reflection of the cost. I love Derwent products, so this was a bit of an anomaly in that respect but the lay down and colours are great xx
You made great points on these. I only bought a tin of 12. I prefer the big barreled old fashioned ones. I do like using the rose for skin tone. I have used them on the Beatles "Sgt. Peppers book and the "Lord of the Rings Trilogy coloring book.
Enjoyed video thanks for the informative comments about the difference in the weight of the color as how it lays down on the paper, maybe that type of color weight will fit others and some not im glad you were able to explain the difference as some colorist are on a tight budget and this video can help decided on a purchase of certain types of color pencils...thank you many art blessings to you today...mikelle art mom🎨👩🎨✍
My birthday is also in July. The third. I’m glad for your feelings on the Derwent Chromaflow pencils. I originally bought the set of 24 when they first came out and didn’t like them. Sometimes my disappointment is just a matter of the number of pencils I purchase. That is what happened with the Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. ❤Aside from the learning curve I struggled with, the set of sixty didn’t suffice. I bought full set and loved them. By the way, I love that little coloring book. It’s so cute.
As I color along with you, I feel like Im with a friend hanging out. Thx, K! Yeah… Looking forward to JB’s new book too. There’s several Japanese books coming but kind of too expensive for me. My fav so far is Wild Mouse. I might get that one hehe.
I absolutely agree with u K on all points, here in Australia they were $200 almost from Amazon so I waited until the price came down n jumped on them saving about $50. I noticed some off centre but compared to Prismacolors I feel it’s manageable,I too being from the UK have a place in my heart for Derwent The mouse looks AMAZING 🤩💖💖💖❤️
Thanks so much Lynn. Derwent is a great brand with very good customer service, but I might be being a little biased as it’s a UK based brand. Have a great weekend x
Thanks for sharing your impressions on the Chromoflows. Also, thanks for mentioning that Derwent is located in the Lake District. Do they have a factory/shop there? If so, and I ever get back to northern England🙏, I’ll check it out. xo
Great video, loving this book. It's my birthday next Wednesday and my neighbor is gonna buy me 2 different ones of Matchstick Mouse 😀. I only have the 120 set of Castle Arts pencils. But I would love to be able to buy Prismacolours and Inktense. Not sure if I'll ever have them, but I do dream about them lol.
I've found Derwent to be hit or miss. You just never know if the set you're getting is going to be any good. I've gotten to the point I shy away from Derwent.
@@ColouringwithK I adore inktense, but their watercolor pencils, IDK, they just didn't do much for me. I've had to return some of their pencils cause they were cracked, splintered, or so off center they were hard to sharpen. heh, so hit or miss. Maybe the poor quality ones I got were the Mexico produced ones.
I’ve had the 24 set for a couple of months now. The colours are lovely, however sadly I can’t get the best out of them as I find the barrels too thin and slippery :( I have to “death grip” them just to keep them still and can only use them about 10-15 mins before it’s too painful (I have had ops on both hands in the past for carpal tunnel). I do have the Prismas and love them, as well as Inktense and some Polychromos, but wanted to try another type. I don’t suppose you can recommend other pencils with a thicker barrel? Love watching your vids!
Sorry to hear you have difficulties with your hands. I like the Arteza’s and the Derwent drawing pencils as well as the Lightfast pencils which have thicker barrels, also the Coloursoft. May be try a few open stock and see what you think?
@@ColouringwithK thanks! I’ve been thinking about it but you’ve enabled me lol! Next visit to Cult pens I’ll buy a couple of Derwent Lightfast and Coloursoft to try :)
Hi K, thank you for the video, I really enjoyed it! I do have a question for you, if you dont mind. What pencils do you like using on the Amazon paper? I don't have the Chromoflow, but I do have a somewhat generous pencil collection. 😊 Thank you!
Johanna Bashford are Fantastic plus the paper are Great
very pretty colouring
Thank you Rachel 😊💕
