- In this episode the DPM team take on their biggest task yet with the restoration of this stunning 1963 Bentley continental drophead S3.
Exclusively coach built they are renowned for being extremely hard to work on and restore - along with Bentleys over engineering this certainly was a testing task.
Taken back to bare metal we soon uncover a vast amount of rust issues and very poor previous repairs. With repair panels not available for this vehicle every panel has to be hand made in house. Nearly 500 hours of metal work was put into this car!
We then go through the steps of filler levelling and priming to ensure this body is perfectly straight with no imperfections and maintaining flush panel fitment and consistent 5mm panel gaps - something every high end restoration requires.
Once prepped the body moves into final paint - such a rewarding stage for any restoration. Maintaining its factory colour of blue and then coated with 5 coats of lacquer ensuring we have a lovely foundation to flat and polish after.
Once shell and panels are painted we move onto flat and polishing - going through 5 grades of sanding to provide a flawless, straight ripple free finish this is the only way we see fit for our restorations.
We then partly assembled the car our end with all new zinc plated fittings and hardware before the car went to SM trimming for a new hood and headlining as well as having the interior recolonised.
Back with us for final fit up with all new chromed bumpers the overall finish is complete. The presence of this vehicle is second to none and is truly stunning and think would be hard pushed to find an example like this.
Huge thank you to my amazing team for the hours put into this and one we are certainly proud to put our name too.
We hope you enjoyed and please like, comment and subscribe!

Love these slant eyed beauties. Bravo to all you young men who still have the passion to do things right!
Absolutely superb workmanship 👌
Congratulations 👏
Beautiful, and congrats to a relatively young team for a classic restoration
Exceptional work. Thank you for some background details of the car for my book you shared with me at the NEC Classic Car Show. 10/11/23. A previously undiscovered car for my data base. Best wishes.
WOW Im so impressed, what a restoration!
Renowned craftsmanship and passion for details. Well done!!
It look fantastic. The only thing I would like to see is
the Car on a sunny day so you can see what must be
an amazing color of blue.
Great video. Thank you,
Jeff❤

Absolutely beautiful!
You and your team must be very proud indeed.
Merde ! It's what we say in french when we see something amazing... What a hands and what a brain you have, and you're so young, Meeeeerde ! The level of exigence and passion you have all of you is finally more greatful and impressive than almost the result itself !
I'm in totale admiration in front of that, you're all guys deserve a deep respect and all the best in your life .
Bravo !
Well all I can say to that is Merci Beaucoup! I appreciate the kind words!
@@dpmtv7693thanks, it’s really sincerely. I guess it’s very time consuming for you but you should continue your UA-cam channel… you were on the very nice way to do. The little “coup de pouce” from Garry Mavers’s interview would make you famous. Yes I know I’m also selfish as I want to see more 😅.
Very, very impressive. It’s refreshing to see someone of your age with an amazing eye for detail and skill. Keep up the good work and put more content out. Bravo.
Thank you for the kind words! We have some restoration content coming up soon! Thanks for watching!
Fabulous restoration. I am also really pleased the trim was not replaced. I know many people with the interest and money to build a collection insist great leather with virtually no visible wear is removed and new materials are used.
Well done chaps looking fabulous . great skill and much passion . need more guys like you to make our country great again .
Thank you very much for the kind words!
Cannot speak. To die for ❤
Greetings from Tucson, Arizona USA
You've created something spectacular!
Amazing ! (nuff said )
Brilliant! Excellent! Gorgeous!! Be extremely proud of yourself!!!
Beautiful !!
I can't afford that car but I would if I could, but I do own a 1973 mulliner park ward 2 door saloon corniche and appreciate the coach build aspect of the car in the same way
I wish your shop was a tad closer to me…I have a 1960 drop head S2 Continental that needs a refreshing…well done! Beautiful work!
We have transport firms that work nationwide and throughout Europe- you are never too far 😁
@@dpmtv7693 I am located in the States…certainly a topic to consider. I enjoyed your attention to details!
Very impressive work, and a delight to watch. With all due respect, the interior door handles on these Koren-designed Continentals always pointed forward - they have been put on backwards on this car. A quick glance at the handbook will bear this out, ditto the period brochures and factory photos. A quick, 5-minute fix.
Well done, and a real pleasure.
Additionally, these cars were always specified from new with an Everflex hood covering, as cloth requires periodic resealing.
Superb video 👏
preety cool 👌👌🙂🙂
Amazing
Unbelievable, fabulous.
Mate honestly great video!! Really enjoyed this!! Well done looks unreal 👌
Wow Love your work
Absolutely fantastic work you do. Great narration from you as well. Great to see young people creating and working on such beautiful cars. Do your eyes need protecting from all the dust and spraying of all the various mixtures ? Thanks. John (Australia)
amazing work!
Great video, easy to watch, covers everything in enough detail, but not too long and lovely looking finished result, so a great storyline. Would love to send you my own car (Conti R) for an exterior job, but would probably have to save up first!
Thank you for the kind words! We try our best to make it an easy watch with enough information! Glad you enjoyed and would love to have your car in - we could even do a video on it!
ABSOLUTE brilliant job, i reckon plenty off hours polishing lol.
Many many hours of polishing 🥲🥲
there is an aston 2chinese eye sallon from the same period , check out the very rare [ only 48 ] Aston martin lagonda rapide 1960s ,I would prefr oone any day to a DB5 ,even though they are rare they are a third of the price even for a perfect one .
"Over-engineered". How kind! It looked as though the car was being held together by all that paint. And then there are all of the mechanical and electrical things to be brought back to their original state...for better or worse.
Between the head lamp crome cowls, do they have a B badge ?
This model didn’t - but being coachbuilt I’m sure some did
@@dpmtv7693 Fabulous work. Thanks for your reply 👍

pretty awful music, would have been better just hearing the tools running instead.
