Dale Jarrett should have won the Winston Cup this season. A terrible call by the officials at Watkins Glen forced him to make a pit stop because they “saw” and problem with his car that didn’t exist. He was running top 5 at the time and the stop relegated him back to about 30th place. He ended up finishing the season 14 points behind Jeff Gordon for the title. That blunder cost DJ at least 50 points in the standings and ultimately sank his chances at winning the cup. He was an absolute threat to win every week in 1997. Even though he ended up winning the title in 1999, in my opinion, 1997 was his best season.
CBS starting airing more NASCAR races when they had no NFL football on Sundays in 1995. CBS coverage was good but not on par with FOX or NBC when they took over in 2001.
... back in the 80s I dreamt to come to the US from a third world class country and become a professional Nascar driver and be the most intimidating champion ever for an fabulous vanilla extract sponsor L😂L
Nope. Kyle Petty, Alan Kulwicki, Geoff Bodine, Jeremy Mayfield, Joe Nemechek, they never won one. Kyle Larson, Martin Truex, Marcus Ambrose, Juan Montoya more recently haven’t
3:20 Lol at Earnhardt just walking by casually tickling Dick Berggren in the middle of his prerace segment like he's the Pillsbury Doughboy.
Earnhardt messing with Dick B. at 3:20. LOL!
Earnhardt rattled his rib cage!!!
I miss when racing was good!!! Not this bull shit today!!!! I still watch the old races !!!
You mean Talladega the last three years hasn’t been good?
You mean this super single file race for the whole thing?
This wasn’t single file. The passing was the highest incidence of the season
Ahh, its refreshing to listen to Mike Joy when he actually gives a shit.
He needed to retire 5 years ago or more.

Actually CBS’ coverage was better. First they didn’t jerk around the sponsors like FOX does. Second they didn’t clutter up with graphics.
That stopped in 1998 when CBS regained NFL football.
2:26:00 You will never find today's Nascar driver in that position. They wouldn't know what they'd be looking at.
But do they have to anymore?
Didn't DIE HARD sponsor dale Earnhardt
Kinda like jimmy Johnson at lowes motor speedway and Kyle bush with sharpie at bristol
DieHard never sponsored Earnhardt. They did sponsor Darrell Waltrip's truck series team for a brief moment.

CBS' coverage had significantly degraded by the time we got to 1997.
How?
