Right idea but wrong year. I think "The Week" happened in 1991. Dale, Schrader, and a bunch of other Cup drivers ran the ARCA race at Topeka that year. '91 was the only year Dale competed.
The sport had to get safer - Drives would've kept dying if they didn't - Dale's death was the huge turning point but they should've started it years before when they lost guys like Neil, Adam and Kenny
God I loved it when Wally gave his moon answer!! Lol! I want to believe we did but so much says we did not. But it took balls to say that back in that Era.
Elliot looks to pass spencer on the final laps a few times and spencer just hammers the gas and pulls ahead by 3 or 4 car lengths like it’s nothing 🤣. With 2 to go Ken squier says “is that worrying spencer at all” Someone in the background says “I doubt it” 😂😂😂Junior Johnson was the most innovative driver and owner all time. He was the one who figured out the draft also among other things
3:37 big LOL with the Hamburglar being aboard Jimmy Spencer's car.
Double Quarter Pounder in paradise! Jimmy Spencer.
4:44. Drivers, energize your groundcraft!
1:54:38 I wonder if that Topeka trip is the one Jr talked about going w/Schrader on

More time has passed between this race and now then when men walked on the moon and this race. 🤯
Last win for a McDonald's sponsored car until Bubba Wallace on at Talladega in 2021
I could imagine camping all weekend and watching the races in those grandstands in the middle of July... woo wee
I did it every summer race at dale-a-dega from 84-96. Some of the best memories of my life
We did it every year from 88 to 97 best times of my life!
They never moved the starting line at all!!! Ken adding words to make it sound good...
4:44 Buzz said Drivers energize your groundcraft
Jimmy Spencer! "Mr. Excitement"
Still the last race to be won by a McDonalds sponsored car in the Cup series
Great race as always ty jungle
NASCAR's seemed faster and waaaaayy more wild back then, and more so 10 years earlier, and so on. Now it's safe...robot safe..sad...
safe is a good thing.
Did you not see Ryan Newman almost die in the Daytona 500?

That's a different approach. NASA speech I guess.
Richard basically says it at 2:13:49 lol...
