nice comparison. I been playing since 1967. I used and loved my Dyna from about 1974 to 1994 replacing it with a Tama birch 5.5 with the roller snare assembly. I lean towards the high end pop and crack of the 4" brass piccolo but recently changed my tastes to the 6.5" Black Beauty. The modern ones have an improved snare take up lever and the drum really is special. I love mine . It's my main go to snare now at 68 years old. I think its the spun brass (todays are hydroformed) that makes the difference and perhaps the nickel a little bit.
Nice sounding drums and great drumming! I’m partial to the Dynasonic because I own a 1973/4 Rogers that held up very well for its touring life with me and still helping me to do our thing. 😃
Sounds like a Ludwig head on the black beauty. (It also sounds like the snares can be a bit tighter on both). The Dyna Sonic sounded chunkier and a little boxxy. Depends on what you like. I personally prefer the chrome Supraphonic.
Nice demo here. The BB has a thinner, somewhat tinnier sound and the Dyna-Sonic had a slightly beefier sound. Not surprised, due to the added chrome plating. As much as the Black Beauty (originally a Slingerland name) gets high praise, I do prefer the Rodgers. Thanks for the head to head comparison!
I inherited a Roger's Chrome Over Brass as a Youth, of which I've logged in 1000's of hours on. I am also a Chicago Native, and Ludwig Player with many Vintage Snares including a 1924 Black Beauty. The Dyna-Sonic sounds Sweetest to Me. Gene Chrisman loved His. Vita Bella...
I have a 6.5 Black Beauty that i use for concert, swing and jazz work. Recently got a 7 ring 5 x14 Dyna. Harder to get good rolls with it but enjoy playing it. My BB is still my favourite . Only real disappointment with the Dyna is that all my snare stands are fairly flat so i have put spacers on the stand arms so the the dyna can have unhinered space under neath even when the snare rig is hanging loose.

Buddy Rich played Rogers from 1960-66, although he often slipped in a Fibes snare…
Rodgers to my ear
Rogers hands down.
The Roger’s Chad more ring
Rogers!
...Rogers first !!! Cheers
Wow that Dynasonic almost sounds as good as the Black Beauty
Rogers sounds best
In this comparo the Rogers sounds better, more articulate and better.
Rogers sounds more alive!

I'd be glad to take the loser of this "contest" off your hands.
