holding ALT Key and building something will always build the highest Tech Level available....saves you a looot of time later. Especially if you want to build T2 Walls instantly and dont need to go through all the walls to upgrade them.

This game hits all of the sweet spots of mine, great tower defense, great horde game, great builder, great RPG, great resource management game; all combined into one. I can't get enough of it. Most of these tips I discovered through trial and error, but it's nice to see all of them at once to give context. Thank you!
I would say to not use energy storage as a wall. They might have more hp then a wall segment, but the energy storage take up 4 spaces which is equivalent to 1400 health if you would just built regular walls which is 900 more then the energy storage and also that energy storage is a harder to place down in your wall because of the 2x2 size. instead just build 4 thick walls and after you research t2 walls you can build two walls with a gap between them to not take aoe damage while still being as strong as 4 t1 walls. P.S. This message is intended for new players that watching this video.

Building power banks between walls is a bad idea. Not only do they more surface area per hitpoint (which would allow them to suffer more damage per second from more angles but in the same 2x2 space that they occupy you can place 4 walls with a greater total health pool
and level 2 walls are totally awesome! they last quite a while vs the level 1 walls
Dont put energy storage in your walls. When one gets destroyed they all chain explode destroying the entire wall
they also dont have more hp - an energy store has 500 and takes a 2x2 square a wall has 350 and takes 1/4 of that space a wall of equivalent size has 1400 hp vs 500 of an energy store
I played for the first time yesterday, unlocked a Chainsaw, its soo good haha.
I picked this game up for $2.50 for PS5 and I was a little overwhelmed at first but I think I'm understanding it now. I came here to see what the best method for power plants are. I feel like I'm not using each power node to it's potential but I see you're using most of them. So I guess I'll try that. I just need more experience I guess.
Played an hour or 2 of this last night on Game Pass PC. So far it's great. It's got a great mix of ARPG, TWIN stick shooter, RTS and Tower Defence. It's like Path of Exile meets Total Annihilation. *chefs kiss* Thanks for the tips, mate. Can't wait to get on and try some of these out.

I've never played any of these sort of top down strategy games but this looks so good. I'm really tempted, especially now I know FireSpark plays it. He got me through Conan Exiles. A "like" from me.

Energy storage health is 350 but it's also 1/4 the size of energy storage, put 4 walls up instead and you've got 1400

That tip of putting weapons outside the base and wrapping them in only a thin 1 width wall does not work so well. They will go right through it when swarms come. Better tip is cover your area with radar then only protect the outer edges but protect them with thick 3-4 deep walls. Once you get the hives under control you can leave the mining spots pretty unprotected and just warp in to deal with swarms, rebuilding as needed.

Personally, i space out my wall layers by 1 so i can squeeze close range towers in between them. also, the laser weapon and flamethrower are GREAT for clearing out the Demon Yeast.

My version:
Rush Alien Flora Cultivation ASAP and use the Hazenite Concentration map as the outpost to plant ALL the stuff. I built my outpost close to the edge of that map and managed to isolate the monster waves there, keeping all my cultivators to the South and West safe.
I'd also use the Radioactive Desert Recon map as my warehouse outpost - spam those Storage buildings there.
The other outpost locations I use are the Tanzanite concentration map (if you're lucky you can get around 9 Cultivators running there), Ferdonite concentration map (pray that Geothermal Vents spawn there though), the Acidic Plains Recon map (just watch out for the acid yeast, and use the sludge pools for water).
This makes the Mining Outpost maps optional, and adds a little funny feeling when Ashley says I should cultivate the resources needed instead of mining them... something that I would already have been doing since they're ridiculously OP compared to mining.
You'll still have to progress through the missions because the mineral spawns are locked behind the researches only unlockable after completing them.

Hey! Not a bad video tips were def helpful. I had to replay the game after I fully understood the concept and strat of the game. Def should make a new video and farm a bigger square box for a base. Clear adds and land and make the command center in the middle with a bunch of solar panels, power storage etc with walls back to back on the outside. Makes everything so much easier! And looks neat.
When the storms happen I like to start placing batteries around so they fill up a lot faster; takes greater advantage over the random weather events
you want to get rid of the Acid Yeast? Flamethrower coupled with a Minigun, using that I went on a lovely stroll through it

If you are new to this game my absolute biggest tip is to turn your main hq base into a massive resource harvesting farm once you unlock the plant harvester and species growers. Then you will have unlimited resources with 0 work and you can power almost every new base with plant matter power factories. It's amazing and super cool to build and watch. I actually filled my entire hq map to the point I have no more water I can harvest to build more farms, it's impossible to run out of resources now.

I think a combo of the spear and upgraded fists, in theory, make health a non-issue. Like, use spear for clearing mobs and when your health starts to go down since there are vulnerability frames with it, switch to the upgraded fists to regain that lost health... that is assuming, OFC, that I actually get close enough for melee and don't automatically default to shotgunning the trash mobs... which... well, that's my solution in most games where sniper isn't available... when in doubt, shotgun 'em to the face ~ "Doom guy" circa OG Doom.
A 2 thick wall is better in every way to a energy storage
It's not because if they break a wall they will ignore all other walls. If they break an energy storage they will hang out in the no-man's land killing more energy storages while your turrets destroy them.

The battery is 500hp but it takes up 4 tiles, a wall is only 1 tile, so if you fill the space with wall it's much more HP than the battery.
Wouldn't just more wall vs energy storage be better? Storage might be 500hp but it takes up 4x4 instead of 1x1, and is a lot more expensive. Or am I missing something?
Personally, I agree with you. Also it's a 2x2 area not a 4x4, but your point still stands, you can fit four 350hp walls there for like 5 carbonium a piece as opposed to the energy storage which is about 50.
Most of those tips are garbage, dont even use floor to boost moving speed wich is very usefull if attack on more than one side and it look better
7:18 don’t do this, the energy storage takes 4 tiles which could be used by walls, 4 x the basic 350hp is 1400 hp which is almost 3x as much as the storage

It's not so much about min-maxing the defense per tile though, as much as it's about space management and rolling an essential part of your base into the defensive perimeter - I like it
Wait but cant u put 2 walls where u are putting 1 energy storage where 2 walls would have 700 hp rather than just the 500 on energy storage

One thing that's completely baffling me is that I've built an ammo factory and several ammo storages, and the ammo factory isn't doing anything... :\

If you are cloud streaming this game on xbox I highly recommend setting the save interval to 5-10mins. The stream often crashes or gets interrupted for me even with 200mb high speed internet

Just picked this up, as it looks great. It is a little daunting though. What things are most important to take on board for starting a new game, please?
Resource deposits are not unlimited. You’ll need to manage them when they run out and you may need to readjust the building over the deposit to keep getting the resources.
Also, there’s buildings that generate said resource infinity if you can power them.

Energy storage in the walls is not a great idea. Yeah, they've got more HP than a single wall unit... but they take up the space of 4 wall units. 350x4= 1,400 HP which is >>> 500 HP.
So instead of doing that, simply just make more wall??
The main difference is though that if they break through 4 walls they will all funnel in and destroy your base. If they break an energy storage they then focus fire on all the other energy storage giving you a much longer buffer time before they get into your base core than 4 walls.
you should have another 4x4 wall structure in front of your little turret outposts, that way they'll attack that and not your turret structure. it's especially good for ranged AoE mobs as they won't damage anything important at all.
EDIT: you actually do this next, LoL.

Hammer is great for clearing vegetation to slow for actual combat imo. But if you like it and it works for you more power to ya. Glad you are enjoying the game.

One very overlooked tip…when your health is low go stand on your hq and it will repair/heal you. Helpful at the beginning when you can’t do it yourself.
Shouldn't density of hp matter more than simply having a building with more hp? The creatures have to destroy every building. You can get 4 walls in the same space you can get 1 battery. So, theoretically (this doesn't account for splash damage, which is an admittedly pretty big factor), wouldn't the 350*4= 1400 hp of 4 walls be more beneficial than the 1 battery with 500hp?
Edit: I just saw that at least one other person made the exact same argument.

Might be using the mod that increases storage
level 1 stores 10 k level 2 stores 20 k... going by that i believe level 3 is 30 k storage

So I played the beta for this game a few years ago but havent done much with it since.
One question I have is: When you upgrade buildings and guns via the tech trees in a mission, do they keep your progress or do you need to unlock ALL your guns nad gear from tier 0 every single time you play a match? I know the base structures are lvl 0, but stuff you research in the weapon, armor and equipment tree, do they also revert to lvl 0 every game?
And how do the attacks go? Is it full blast all the time? Or do attack sizes vary? In the beta you had moderate attacks then the unwinnable horde in the end....is it like that int he actual game?
Not sure what you mean by "match" but the game has a beginning and end for the most part. You can restart a new game fresh with everything reset. But while you are playing on the same save, all your research stays forever.
The attacks are every 5 min or so it seems like. Maybe longer. You can also go looking out for fights. Also, the fight in the beta would be a much later stage fight. They start off easy and allow you to build up automated defenses.

could you do something on bases? placement, how to expand well coz i got stuff all over where I want it tidy and neat its messy and hard to keep track. if I make a fence does it stop spawns?
He builds things closely together when they are throwing 'big exploding bombs' on it, i wouldn't hold my breath

Yeah you can. It's unlocked through research once you've got the communication tower.
Shortcut to repair is "R"

You need to upgrade them in the skill tree and they unlock mod slots.
only advanced weapons and up have a mod slot.... meaning advanced has 1 mod slot superior has 2 and so on

Hi, I play this game on the ps5, could someone help me with a question. Is there a faster way to upgrade your walls in stead of upgrading them one by one, you have to press SQUARE then UP then X. It just takes ages doing it one by one. Plus when you unlock the wall upgrade how to you build the wall already upgraded and not at basic level, because then you have to level them up one by one again. Thanks if anyone could help.
On PC you can hold down the Alt key before placing the structure and it will upgrade it before being placed (works for drag and dropping).
Problem is I have no idea what button it would be on a controller since that Alt key function isn't listed in the controls, so you might have to experiment hitting buttons while in placement mode. Unless X on the controller is that upgrade button and you didn't know about the drag and drop upgrading.
Idk what the button for it would be, but there is an option to build Max level right away, like already mentioned. However another tip would be to go to your build menu and select upgrade in that first. Then you just need to hit each building without having to select each one.
You have to pull the left trigger while building to build the highest level version of that structure.
Dont build your walls that close, put a gap in between them, most enemies have an AOE, so those walls that close they are gonna melt them
Nice tips there! The autosave/save not just stutters the game but also heats the cpu way above the avg temperatures the game normally runs it. Like I have around 60ish C and when saving it can go as far as 84C.
Just a fair warning, default save interval has saved my butt a few times now. I've had three CTD in under two hours with the campaign.
i think i messed up in my campaign.... i cant get more uranium or do i first need to upgrade my HQ to elvel 4 before i can actually start mining uranium?
It's locked behind the Uranium Handling research that you can only start near the end of the Gather Uranium Ore Samples mission. That's after the Radioactive Desert Recon mission.

Are there some unknown quirks with energy connectors? I was trying to hook up power to my water filter plant and Alien research lab but when I walk over to that area I have zero power. It says “Local” and zero energy as soon as I walk over there. Then I walk 10 steps back towards main base and it displays my normal power again? Everything is connected I double checked
it says "local" whenever you are near buildings that are not connected to the same power network as your HQ. check your power connectors and make sure there isn't a gap in them.
I'd say check the connections to make sure they are actually connected and in range of your structures.
@Kenneth Presley Yeah, I've noticed this happening after selling a few buildings inbetween, not realising those buildings were the power connectors to the other area. After placing some new power cores, everything is back up.
The power lines will not automatically form new connections, and I noticed that some times they will only make one connection. For instance, if I have a bunch of gun towers placed side by side the power node will hook into one of the gun towers but not all, and will automatically form a power line going thru the gun line. But if you lose any one of those guns your whole line will now go down. Single point failure power systems are kind of a pain in the butt.
From what I've experienced, most buildings will generate a connection between each other if and only if they touch. For energy connectors, they will power everything in their AoI, including other connectors, which is how longer power lines work. Any grid that is not explicitly part of the main headquarters/outpost grid, is considered "local", and thus independently generates/uses its own energy. So if you see "local" next to the energy bar, it is absolutely NOT part if the main bases network, full stop. There are, however, times when connecting to the main grid is unreasonable.

how do i power an outpost if my headquarters is on the other side of the map? that's my biggest issue in the game
I think I can help you with that.
So when you wanna make an outpost.
1.) Find area
2.) Set up energy infrastructure, walls etc
3.) Make sure to make a rift portal, "V" Button
4.) Travel around your main base and the outpost instantly by pressing the TAB button.
So the energy production and usage is local if you want to have the huge energy capacity of your main base then you'd have to connect everyday through power nodes

When I make an outpost I make it's own individual power source there also when it runs our of resources I just keep the outposts there because they just self sustain so they can just stay there with turrets and stuff
Is there any easier way to transfer power across the map?
Nope just build more stations. A good mix of solar and wind will run most mining operations easy and you don't need many like 3 of each maybe and some power storage. It's a rather small investment.

the game encourages ouposts so you set up a small self sustaining outpost with some solar panels and some turrets and you forget about the station untill the resource node is gone, dont forget the energy storage and walls

Put pump in mud/sludge
Pipes from pump to storage
Then purify
Then pipe but from this point I’m kind missing something
@@martyincanuckistan3635 after the water is purified you can either have that sent to another storage or have a direct line of fresh water going to various buildings that need it.
@@shawnkelly3542 no pump on inlet of that building? I’ve done that and I seem to get this little green ladder symbol of the building so not sure if it’s producing or not

@@martyincanuckistan3635 you place the pump in the mud/sludge pool they produce 100/s at level 1 and the filter i think? filters it at 100/s to the same or less? not sure but its pump, storage, water purifier, storage then whatever building needs it... a green ladder symbol is i believe max storage capacity so it cant store any more, just make your check the rates, btw hovering over a pipeline will tell you its output and input... on pc you can press ctrl and select the pipeline to get the info
how do you change mech skin? in the inv menu i am clicking on Appearance nothing happening
During playing the demo you can change your skin. When the game release, it won't work. Maybe, I believe you need to unlock or achieve something in the game to get the skin.
You will need to find the skins in the wild. You do this by discovering stuff across the maps. Be warn though as soon as you touch it a small hoard will come too defend it. Kill them off harvest the plant / tree / mind like thing and a chance of the skin or mods or statues will drop

im in the campaign and cant build the alientech in the lab... i can start it, but the timer does not go down, someone knows whats wrong?

it actually pauses while youre in the research lab. Go out and back in and youll see it did sth :P

Use a water purifier on the mud. Makes clean water for the lab.

I believe you just didn't have the right dmg type. I can't quite remember which type hurts them. I usually have a variety of weapons on me and I cycle to find the one they are not resistant to.

I found that one of the basic wepons with infinite ammo worked on them, like a blaster or something, i think it is electric damage.

Yes and no..The fighting etc feels real fluent the building is still better than most RTS attempts but I can see how it's low-key frustrating.
