Even 10 years later, Im still in the golden period of POE, since I dont follow any guides. My builds are my own, I play SSF and am having fun. Im not an endgame master yet, but every league I get a bit better. And thats the fun part - progression of the character and progression of the self. No shortcuts.
Hell yeah man! I do the same thing myself, though I try to make the niche builds work, such as Dual Wield Trickster using Viper Strike or Pestilent Strike, or a Holy Slammer Guardian, etc. Unfortunately the Passive Tree is not large enough to make them work, even with Cluster Jewels, but got the dual wield Pestilent Strike Trickster to red maps. Good on you man :)
@@harrynazarian3184 You could make them work, problem is you're already at a disadvantage with strike skills, and those two especially. Perhaps you could try Viper Strike of the Mamba, since you're stacking cluster jewels anyway. Sure it won't be as strong without wildwood ascendancies, but you can probably push the damage very high anyway. But again, you'll face an issue with clearing (pathfinder could be interesting, or just run the incubation aura), and defenses (being melee and all).
It's definitely been done with great success before, you just have to find a way to take advantage of the game's mechanics without gimping your build.
@@yeahright420 You're correct, I didnt push my build far enough to try T17. My league starter got to T16, then my second one got to about T11, I got 20 challenges and quit the league.
My personal goals are unconventional, so T17s were not something I had much interest in at the moment. If they stay, I'll chase them next league.

One thing I will say about POE 1 vs POE 2, is that Chris seemed to enjoy being deliberately obfuscatory, where finding out how things in the game work was something they seemed actively hostile to. Whereas Jonathan is much more open to opening the hood a bit, and presenting information cleanly to the player. A much better approach IMHO. While hiding mechanics is a valid approach to game design in some spaces, for a game as complex as POE, it was not, IMO, the right path.
I feel the same. I've watched so much of the poe 2 content but actively avoid the long playthrus. I don't want to have it spoiled more than a boss here or there. Watching someone go from act 1 to act 2+ would just rob me of first time experience.
This is what I have said to myself as well...
I share the same mindset. I want to try, to discover, to fail or (less likely) succeed, and to learn on my own. No guides for me for PoE 2, nor saying never, but that period of PoE 1 was magic, dying on Mervail, or being unable to get past dominus to advance to cruel/merciless, trying to better yourself and try again.
I have years of experience now and thousands of hours in PoE 1 and many other games. I’d think I can pull it off now.
Well put Tri. Jonathan has done a fantastic job filling Chris' shoes. We're lucky to have a development team as passionate as them. It's a win all around when that can happen.

That glaze was from top to bottom but no honesty deserved. He really doesn’t get enough recognition. I really think that dude put 110% and seems like a really down-to-earth guy.
I'm more excited what POE 2 will do for POE 1. If people see and feel the QoL changes in POE 2 they will want them in POE 1 which is great. We already saw this when last epoch came out.
Super hyped for poe 1 new league and all the new stuff and theorycrafting in poe 2! I just hope the performance will be ok, my pc is getting old and weak.

However, I'm getting the feeling more and more that you're also quite subjective. I mean i'm also hyped. As far as we've seen there is a lot to be hyped for. Yet. I really like Jonathan as the director of PoE2, he seems so passionate, but also opens about new idea. One sad thing tho, is that Chris was like that before (not necesseraly the openness XD) and I feel like he lost a bit of that because of all the backlash he received :(
I’m excited for poe2 is because they have been taking their time to make a game with good quality. I can’t wait to see gameplay at full power blasting through maps at end game
The slow zoom in or zoom out you do reminds me of jingling keys to keep a toddler entertained.

I am most excited for the cohesive lore. Mine of is have a clue and it will be amazing. It will give KCN dozens of hours of content to cover too. I am also super excited KaysGaming will be returning. That shows how big of a pull PoE2 has!

JR just continues to make me smile. My main thing with JR is how passionate and excited he is about his work of art, PoE 2, and how he can't wait for people to play it. And he and GGG respect the players a lot to give them the best game they can produce. Because of that, I will support them as my CC (and wife) allows. 🤣🤣 Contrast that with scam artists like New Blizzard, who only have one goal in particular "Give them a game good enough, and snag that $$$. The content creators will do most of the legwork for us, and sell the stuff for us." Can't wait to see the Titans go at it in the future: Eleventh Hour Games (Last Epoch) and Grinding Gear Games (PoE). New Blizzard is a has been, and they're always going to be punching upwards.

What color is your room? I've meant to ask for a while now. Is it yellow or lime green? It resembles the color of the key lime pie I had for desert last night. I must know. I'm going to bet that it has a certain name and not something generic like light green. I just bought a place and I want to paint the walls something other than white. Probably not that color(a little bright and loud for my comfort) but I can't say for sure

Please ask him to bring us the paladin or templar class 🙏 tell him to look at the Game called lost ark another ARPG game that I really need to be brought to north America programmers, and I just mean the hack and slash and paladin and berserker and sorcerer skills and way they play .. I really need a paladin or templar with POE 2 because diablo 4 has been letting me down so bad man.. please tell the devs of poe 2 to bring us the paladin and templar class asap

I’ll be honest, and I know I’m the minority here, but I HATE uniques. I should say I hate when uniques are better than every other possibility.
Either way, this is the most I’ve been looking forward to a game in a very long time. Great job, Tri!
I just hope the endgame wasn't all about running around killing stuff in a split second, I wish defeating harder and harder bosses is the true endgame

for the chris wilson argument, i would say that Jonathan is as good as Chris but less iconic, not because he lacks something but for two reasons: one, he had less time to build up reputation and memes, two, because he became the face of poe2 when poe1 was already big, they are no more a small company that can afford silly stuff like in the past.
There is an old video of Chris talking to the cameramen while walking, at some point he exits the building, enters into a barber and get 100% shaved while still talking to the cameramen, lmao.

I am not touching any guides, path of building, or any other 3rd party programs except for maybe a loot filter. Once you start optimizing fun it goes downhill.
Who is giving Jonathan Rogers crap? I honestly haven't seen any. Tri I think you need to try not to push this hype too much with POE content and your channel growing. It's feeling forced.

He's in a tricky spot tbh. His channel is starting to grow so he needs to push to keep the mythical youtube algorithm on his side - BUT - the latest batch of content has dried up. It's going to be a painful wait until the next content dump by GGG both for Tri and us.
Actually, Chris Wilson not being in charge is the only reason I'm giving PoE 2 a shot. He can take his monster-buffing, player-nerfing "vision" and shove it. It's time for new blood. Seriously.
show some respect.. lol, hes the reason that poe2 is even here.. his vision is what brought this about, and a lot of players actively still love poe1. But cant keep everyone happy and when you try, you fail. Im glad he stuck to his vision and we are here now.
@kgold01 Speaking for yourself and every other meta-player that has the time to sit around and go through a masterclass on how to perfect the 5% of builds that will even make it to the endgame content only for it to turn into one-shot bullet hell anyway... If that falls under your code of "respect," I remain entitled to disagree on what real respect looks like. I just hope the sequel will encourage more diversity among builds, rather than punishing lashes that make you masochists yell "Ahn~ harder mommy~"
