    Hi there
    Thanks for this review and especially answering to My Request for Your Impressions and comparisons of the built in Dac of the Rega Elicit MK5. I have the Rega Elex MK4 with the same built in dac and phono stage as the. Rega Elicit MK5. I concur with Your Impressions of the sound quality of the built in Dac of My Rega Elex MK4 and My chord Mojo2. I would like to add here that the mojo 2 is definitely the better Dac here with more detail retrieval, slightly fuller tone and timber, a deeper and wider soundstage, better layering and with more 3 dimensionality. However unless You compare both side by side the differences are not that obvious and the built in Dac of the Rega definitely has a very capable and Enjoyable Sound and never leaves You feeling Shortchanged.

      Small thing: the dac is exactly the same in the elex mk4 and elicit mk5 , but the phono stage is not !
      In a video of supersonidos (Spanish shop) they open and compare elex mk4 and elicit mk5 : They noticed that the phono stage in the elicit mk5 is bigger than the one in the elex mk4 .

    On sound quality alone under 80db. The Elicit or the Croft?

      Great question! It's been a while since I heard the croft. While i remember the croft for its superb tonality, I don't recall it having the transparency and air of the Elicit.

    Another question: how does the small rega io compare to the elex (r and mk4) and the elicit mk5 ?

    • @analogholic_reviews
      @analogholic_reviews  8 місяців тому +1

      The Elex R is really better than the Brio, which in turn is better than the IO when it comes to dynamics, bass prowess, and soundstage realism. I love the Elex’s rich tonal balance as well. Much better than the IO or the Brio, IME.

      @@analogholic_reviewsI have both the Rega Brio as well as the Rega Elex MK4 and they both have a very different Sonic presentation. I would say that My Brio has better dynamics and bass prowess than My Rega Elex MK4. Brio has that detailed mid forward and weighty presentation with a toe tapping quality that's rare among modern amplifiers.
      However the Brio can't match the Rega Elex MK4 for soundstage width, height and depth and front to back layering. Also the Rega Elex MK4 has a much better instrument separation and instrument placement within the soundstage than the Brio. Detail levels on the Rega Elex MK4 are much better than Brio with better high frequency airiness and all this without sounding Analytical. Bass definition, control and texture are better on the Rega Elex MK4 as well.

      @@agnelroshandsilva3929interesting perspective. What speakers are you using? How big is your listening room?

      @@analogholic_reviews I was earlier using a 20 Year old Cadence Diva Floor Stander. Presently using a Polk Reserve R700 Floor Stander. ( I know people don't take Polk seriously in HiFi but please if possible take a demo of the R700. It is a fantastic all rounder and just gets to the heart of the Music rather than concentrating on superlatives. Kind of like the Rega.)
      My Room is about 275 sqft. The R700 goes down a shade lower than 30 Hz in My Room with a really tight and well defined bass. The downward firing power port 2 on the R700 has been implemented really well.

    Hello, I have a rega elex mk4 wich has the same inboard dac.
    I’m considering buying an external dac, would you recommend the mojo 2?
    (I’m looking for something that would sound similar to my planar 6+exact+fono mm)
    Good idea or you would wait and buy something more expensive like a Qutest or a Merason frérot ? Thanks !
    (Btw, did you compare the mojo 2 with Qutest ?)

    • @analogholic_reviews
      @analogholic_reviews  8 місяців тому +1

      The Mojo2 is definitely a great buy. The Qutest is much more resolving. It does have filters that could help it sound a bit warmer but it’s overall character is not warm like the Mojo2 .

      Interesting ! Would you buy the mojo or the Qutest for the elex mk4 ? Wich one would be the better match ?

      @@remiwjuniski1808 I personally would get the Qutest over the Mojo2. Although I like warmth in presentation, I prefer realism in terms of dynamics and resolution.

      @@remiwjuniski1808 while the Qutest is the better Dac compared to the Mojo2, it does have a lean presentation and does not have the fuller tone and timber of the Mojo2. The Rega Elex MK4 also has a overall slightly Lean presentation (Also leaner compared to the earlier Rega Elex MK - R). Matching two lean sounding components might not be a good idea. For the leaner Sonic Signature of the Rega Elex MK4 the Warmer, Fuller and well Rounded Sonic Signature of the Mojo2 will provide the better synergy in a system. Also the Trump Card up the Mojo2's sleeve compared to the Qutest is the parametric EQ which enables You to fine tune the sound to Your preference.
