Ended up getting the Nd5 for our vintage Planar 2. Amazing cartridge, benefits alot from the P6 platter upgrade you showed off a few vids ago. Can’t imagine how great the Nd7 sounds
Thanks, this was just the video I needed 😅 I have been wondering what to replace my P3-24/Exact 2 with, especially in terms of mm or mc cartridge, since I already have the Aria & Aethos. Sounds like an ND7 and Planar 6 or RP8 might be the ticket. That said, I always found my current TT setup underwhelming, especially compared to my modest digital (Pontus II and the wonderful Rega DAC), so a part of me is afraid I’d end up disappointed and out of pocket 😅 Note that my digital of course “wins” on technical parameters, but more importantly also on engagement, flow, musicality, prat, tonality and is more forgiving.
@@RigVader if you want a fun journey go P8/ND7, then upgrade to a MC after a while. An Apheta 3 would be a worthy upgrade after that. You can always skip the ND7 and go Apheta 3 if you are ready to experience it all.
I look forward to hearing this on my P5 modified with Groovetracer and Mogami armcables. Haven't received it yet since I ordered it last week, but first batches of ND7 has arrived here in Norway. Now I am using Exact, that is musical and plays well, in my opinion.
Hi, can you pls. tell more which Mogami arm cable you used for modification of your P5? And how good it is. I am planning to change cable in my old Planar 25 with RB 600 arm. My P25 has 24 Volt electromotor upgrade kit, with 24 V Rega Neo power supply and EBLT drive belts. Have you changed subplatter on P5?
@@Integralista001 Hi, the cable used inside the arm is Mogami W2739. I sent the arm away to a company here in Norway that are restoring and repairing record players. I use a Groovetracer subplatter that I bought for my Rega P3 15 years ago. Tangospinner has a subplatter too, at a lower price. Last year I bought the Rega Neo power supply, that was an upgrade too, together with the EBLT belt. Earlier I used the white belt. Edit: I will receive my ND7 this weekend.

I look forward to hearing these new Rega MM's. I was a fan of the Exact though always thought the Elys and Bias were just ok. I generally prefer LO MC carts myself and it generally goes without saying that with LO MC's the quality of the phonostage becomes way more crtitical in terms of the final result.
@@tonyfafoglia2927 yeah the phono stages do make a big difference. I think I should get a Rega Aria phono pre amp so I can compare the MC/MM on a some what even playing field. I also agree about the Elys and Bias, great kit carts, but the exact was a great cartridge period.
Hi, looking forward to try ND07 on my "sleeper" Planar 25, which I have one of first ones ever produced. I have him more than 25 years. My P25 has used mainly Benz Micro Glyder SL and before Goldring mm 1042, both excellent cartridges. Now I have on P25 mc Goldring Elite. But this new ND07 will beat it I think. Great video! -In your experience , is the nd7 a better tracker than the already very good exact ? (Better inner groove distortion,etc..) -How would you sonically compared the nd7 to the exact and Ania Pro also ? Thanks 😇
@@remiwjuniski1808 these are great questions. I have been very surprised at how well the Nd7 tracks, it is as good as the exact if not better. Buy the Ania Pro. I had an Exact and after that I bought the Ania Pro. It was much better with more details, more dynamic and a breathtaking deep and punchy low end. Unfortunately I broke the Ania Pro and bought a much cheaper Excalibur Black which is very similar to the Hana SL. It sounded well but it hasn’t had the drive and the musicality of the Anis Pro. What should I say? A several month ago I went back to the Ania Pro and everything is fine again. No thought about a new cartridge anymore just having fun in listening to the music. One thing I had excepted, was that a Moving Coil could sound a little to much expressed in the highest tones. But it really doesn’t, it sounds very fine and detailed on a very calm and relaxed side.
@@jamiesmith8307 great question. I have fitted one 2M black in my day. Great cartridge.
