For anyone else watching all of the mishra upgrade guides, this is singlehandedly the best out of all of them. This is my first video, just subscribed.
I like you build, and i really like that you say now what you would replace for the non budget upgrades and sidegrades. I think this upgrade is really cool because most of the upgrades for this deck are looking for the infinite turn combos. I think this combat and etb focused upgrade is more fun .
Glad you enjoyed it! I figured I would try out the swapping specific cards to see if folks like it or not (since a decent amount of people have been asking me for specific swaps) - so its good to hear that at some folks are liking it!
Great video as always, really liked how you included lore suggestions in the upgrades. Also the replacement upgrade suggestions is really helpful. I have built two of your decks and I always have fun playing them.
I'm loving your builds man and I'm actually surprised how much similar your criteria for removing and adding cards is to mine. Said this I have a few card suggestions(better said looking for opinions) that could work out incredible for this deck. As we are running a lot of artifacts it's very easy to come up with one sided board wipes, cards like "Their name is death" stand out for this, but flavorwise im a big fan of "Phyrexian Scriptures" as it will clean the board leaving Mishra intact, and it's sooooo Flavorful. Talking about flavor same goes for "Portal to Phyrexia" as it's easy to cheat out and will wrench havoc if multiplied (even more with Sundial shenanigans) A card that I find also incredible is "Whirr of Invention" as it will allow us to tutor and play needed artifacts, but I understand leaving it out because of some playgroups adversities to tutors. A card Im trying to include but have no clue what to cut for them are the Saheeli planeswalker (all of them are incredible) and Daretti for some graveyard Reanimation shenanigans.Same goes for Joira, Ageless inventor, but this one feels weird Lastly I'm a big fan also of Mishra, Tamer of Mak Fawa as with sundial it allows us to cheat out expensive artifacts, offers us protection, and adds to the Mishra flavor. What do you think of this cards?
Glad your enjoying the builds and you know what they say - great minds think alike! Your suggestions are all quite solid - Their name is death is a solid wipe that is good for a artifact themed deck and Phrexian Sciptures works well to keep Mishra alive while wiping the board (which makes up for its slow speed). Portal to Phyrexia is also a very good choice, especially once we start making copies of it with Mishra, though that CMC 9 casting cost is tough to get to. Whir of Invention is always a solid tutor to include if we have the space to add some additional constancy to any artifact themed build. For walkers in this deck, honestly I would advise against them, since (until we're able to get permanent copies of Mishra's Warforms or get to our token generators) the decks actual board presence on our opponents turns can be quite small - leaving walkers very vulnerable to just being attacked into and destroyed. But that's just my opinion and I can see the argument for including walkers like Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge, Daretti, Scrap Savant, and/or Saheeli, Sublime Artificer - all of which have very good synergy with our artifact heavy deck. As for Mishra, Tamer of Mak Fawa - one the one hand he can serve as a potent deterrent for our opponents removal - since our opponents will have to more or less 2 for one themselves whenever they target our creatures. On the other hand, this can just become a minor annoyance if we don't have a way to constantly reduce our opponents resources, which I personally do not think this particular build has enough of. Still, I haven't tested him in it, so I'll have to reserve judgment until or if I get a chance to add him in.
I really like Mishra, Tamer of Mak Fawa as well and really, really like portal to phyrexia. It can be oppressive really fast. jhoira, ageless innovator is also really great in this deck since so many artifacts are quite cheap. She will get targeted pretty quickly though because she will get out of control really fast. I will add some of my picks here too: Thran Dynamo has to stay for me. The ramp is too good and being able to copy a 3 mana rock and now have 6 colorless mana to toss around without even counting lands is very strong. Ashnod's altar is also a great pick imo. Whatever else you do with your mishra's warform, you can always sac it for 2 colorless. If you copy thran dynamo, that's 5 just from the warform. I can't imagine not including Blast-furnace hellkite too. It will come in free or almost free and will pay off big time since it gives ALL creatures attacking opponents double strike, not just yours. The biggest addition I have to mention is Bloodthirster. If you have a cursed mirror or machine god's effigy and your opponents can't block this 6/6 flying trample demon, you get infinite combats by copying your mirror/effigy which becomes a copy of bloodthirster and you can basically go infinite or at least go pretty hard. either way, it's really really fun.
possessed portal is also really good if you are already ahead on board. it will most likely just lock down the entire boardstate and u can just sac your mishra tokens to it
I understand where your coming from. Personally I don't mind the 40k cards, but I can see the argument for giving them more traditional MTG alters so that folks can play them without them clashing with the typical MTG flavor.
I found this video Only now,i've already buyed the Deck and maked a couple of Upgrades Last month. It s pretty close to your list, despite i add a grinding Station,a jester s Cap and a panharmonic. When i find all the Cards during the game It s incredible, Play jester s Cap, Trigger mishra effect and populate effect,With panharmonic, Trigger two times each,i have 5 copies on the field, sac and remove all the win condition and a couple of wipe Board from all the Players. Next turn with grinding Station mill a Little bit their Deck, and the others turn Smash With the Dragon pumped by the mana and artifact.
Wow great video and I will make most of the swaps! One thing though: as I was scryfalling The Mightstone. Isn’t it prohibited from this deck as the backside has an azorius color identity?
I believe I can answer my own question 🙈: “In the Commander variant, a meld card's color identity is determined only by the mana costs and mana symbols in the rules text of its front face. No symbols or rules text of the permanent it melds into are considered.” Maybe this helps others as well then :-)
UA-cam and Phyrexia really look similar in how they try to stop me, huh... that said, amazing video as always! And holy shit, the name abuse shenanigans! The flavour win of how much potential Mishra could have if his brother wasn't that much of a war criminal! That's the kind of stuff I keep being subbed for! Heck, even Arcum Daggson of Starlight Manaburn fame is in the deck! Truth be told, if Garth One-Eye is my favourite Cut-Rate Deck Tech, then this may very well be my favourite precon upgrade! As for the vote... Drafna is a bit too like a tech card in my opinion, while Tawnos is quirky as all hell with the specific typing and Artification shenanigans. Oh, and we just had Mishra, so surpassing that will be a bit too tall of a task. So yeah, Simic for win. Day 459 of waiting for the Grazzet face reveal. Fun fact - the Starlight Manaburn I mentioned above? It's a manga, based on Magic. It also gets really wack really quickly. And it's somehow not even the only MTG manga out there. Crazy, right?
Thanks for the support as usual and happy to hear that you really enjoyed this one (honestly, its one of the more powerful and fun precon upgrades I've worked on). Tawnos if quite the interesting build around with his beast/bird gimmick - but catching up to the younger(?) version of Mishra is not going to be an easy task.... I honestly had never heard of Starlight Manaburn. I was aware of some MTG Manga but I never got around to reading them. I'll have to check it out some time to see just how off the rails it goes!
Love your precon upgrade videos! Btw, could you recommend a good alternative to Neurok Stealthsuit in this upgrade? Kinda hard to come by that card on my side of the shore
Glad to hear it! If your looking to stay in the same CMC and budget consider Mirror Shield, it still provides hexproof and while it is more expensive to equip and can't be attached at instant speed, it does make Mishra considerably tougher to make blocking with him more reasonable. Otherwise, on an increased budget - Champion's Helm is down to around $3 thanks to commander masters to provide hexproof and a +2/+2 stat bump for only 1 more to cast, and for course the classic Lightning Greaves is always a solid option, and its down to around $5 due to commander masters as well. Hope that helps!
Tawnos is is my vote, looking to build a new Simic deck Always another great video, thanks for doing what you do kind sir I would also like to see you build this commander in the near future Liberator, Urza's Battlethopter
Thanks for voting and glad you enjoyed the build! Liberator may be a bit difficult to build around on a budget - mainly due to the mana base being limited to colorless, but its even remotely feesable then I wouldn't be opposed to it!
Thanks for voting! Tawnos is definitely an interesting build around for Beast/Bird Tribal no doubt - being able to double anything (even from a limited pool) tends to be powerful!
Hi I got a full art Karn, Living legacy and I think I could put it in this deck, what do you say? Any recommendations for swapping in and out? I still have the base deck with some minor changes to noncreature artifacts that I got from drafts, The most Notable ones are: Altar of Dementia (no sinergies) Unwinding clock (to swap in) And I pulled a mox Amber which I think I will sell because I don't have any decks that are good / I been away from magic for many many years so I can't really see a lot of use apart from its effective mana ramping abilities
I don't think Obeka actually does much for this build.....since Mishra says sacrifice the warform during the "next end step", won't the token just be sacrificed at the end of your next opponent's turn?
Okay nevermind...but this is a pretty confusing interaction. You have to use Obeka while the end step trigger is on the stack. Then the permanents stuck around
@@jzoobs Magic is full of iffy stuff but yes that's the best use for obeka/sundial. As you said if you just skipped to end of turn it'd be sacrificed next end step but since "at the beginning of next end step" is an effect that only triggers once if you let it trigger and then clear it from the stack you get to keep the token permanently.
Id like to get this deck and upgrade it but stick to old border style cards just because I love the look. It probably wont be the most optimal but theres probably some things i can put in
That's fair. Personally, I can take or leave the old border cards, but if your a fan and like the aesthetic then I really can't fault you for trying to keep everything on them. Sometimes style is more important than optimization after all!
Drafna!! Yes, let's not pay bills for a few months and buy some stock in Mishra's Workshop! Bummer, he's low on the poll; might just have to brew up my own design then
Thanks for voting! Yeah, Dranfa is certainly lagging behind in the polls - so we may have to wait for him to show up again for a second chance later on (maybe).
You should do like a YT short or maybe add a sideboard to the deck list that has strictly old boarder cards I love the upgrades and the deck is super good but throwing new art cards really messes with the overall vibe of the deck imo
Goblin Welder would be spectacular in this build - letting us sac away our temporary Warframes to get permanent artifacts back from our grave us superb! Its a shame it costs $17+ at the time of posting this, but it would certainly make a great upgrade to the build if you have the cash or have one in your collection already! Hope that helps!
Generally we'll at least have Mishra to crew our vehicles since he tends to be too valuable for us to swing in with, but for the most part we'll actaully be relying on Mishra's ability to create Warform versions of our vehicles that are 4/4's and can attack by themselves (while getting their ETB and on attack triggers as we do so).
Master Transmuter is really only option we have in this build - so looking back, easily may have not been the best word to use to describe its infinite turn usage since we have not real way to tutor for either of them - though we can easily get an extra turn our of Ugins Nexus normally with all our artifact sac effects so it can still be a viable sidegrade that can potentially go infinite in this build.
Glad you enjoyed the build! I also could certainly see that being a good swap, since Delina, Wild Mage lets us get free extra copies of our Warform's to take advantage of their ETB & on attack/damage effects with the added bonus of getting around the legendary rule.
@@hotsaucehunter2570 Fair enough - it looks like Arcum skyrocketed in price since I initially dropped this build so Delina may be the best budget alternative!
Yes it would - but you would need to be prepared for when you playgroup kicks you out, be cause that it is really degenerate (especially when it gets down to the 1v1).
@@GrazzetMTGhaha i asked them if they were okay with it and they said yes. May regret that one. This is my first deck, would darksteel forge be a good edition?
There is clearly some MTG rules that I don't know. Take the example of skysovereign. His effect says "Whenever Skysovereign enters the battlefield, do somethin...". When Mishra's copy of Skysovereign enters battlefield its name is not Skysovereign, so it shouldn't proc its ETB effect, right? Also applies to a lot of other cards. I'm beginning to think there is something I'm missing.
I wonder since we already have the might stone and weakstone, to sneak urza in there for a meld… Also I’d love to see a Gix deck or 2019 primal genesis!
Urza, Lord Protector sadly is in white so that not going to be possible in this build. But a Gix build or a tuned up Primal Genesis precon would certainly be fun to build and maybe something I might consider tackling provided I have the time!
That is a good suggestion! If we can copy Mishra's ability we can just keep putting Breath of Fury on a Warform for infinite combat phases (since he'll always create another one to replace the one we saced at the start of the combat phase) - which would work great with our vehicles with built in evasion!
That is true - though I found in testing that this build doesn't typically need counterspells to be effective - as our artifact based removal suite if more than capable of pulling its weight to removal our opponents threats on top of most of them being reusable as Mishra creates copies of them. That said, if you are the type of player who is compelled to run counterspells because you are in blue, cutting 2 of our lower cmc artifacts for Disruption Protocol and a Stoic Rebuttal would provide some decent spell negation that is on theme, while Counterspell and Arcane Denial provide some good generic counters if we have a bigger budget.
@@GrazzetMTG Could you help me come up with a deck list ? I want to combine both brothers war precons into one deck and make the commander breya. But I want to be able to include all new versions of Mishra and urza in it. I think it could be janky and fun
@@ruskyprime6147 Interesting. I'm not sure how powerful it would be, since Urza, Chief Artificer cares about artifact creatures and Mishra, Eminent One cares about non-creature artifacts. Still, Breya would make a solid commander for it if you want to stay within the artifact theme (though I would say that there are a few generically good 5 color commanders that would also be good). I don't think I'll be able to go a full decklist (sadly I don't have the time) but I'll investigate a bit and see of I can suggest a few includes for the build.
Instead of Mnemonic Sphere I would run Skullclamp instead. The cmc and activated ability is 1 instead of 2. It looses the channel ability but I think cmc and cost to activate are more important and it can be any mana to cast or activate, you still draw 2 cards
Skullclamp would certainly make a good addition, as we can cheaply equip them to our Warform's for the extra draw when they die - though it was its nearly $5 price tag that kept it out of this build. Still, if you have one already or don't mind spending a bit more on the build, it would make for a superb upgrade.
@@TheSpiritombsableye Yes, in the community tap on the channels page there is a poll currently going on - there is also a link in the description of the video. Hope that helps!
Glad you enjoyed the build! And yeah, Mindslaver is powerful, but I could not in good conscious recommend it because it is such a nasty card that I can't being myself to play it (unless I'm going all in a evil). But hey, if it works for you, then feel free to add it in!

You're really going all in on the vehicles eh? Do we really have enough other creatures to crew them?
Generally we'll at least have Mishra to crew our vehicles since he tends to be too valuable for us to swing in with, but for the most part we'll actaully be relying on Mishra's ability to create Warform versions of our vehicles that are 4/4's and can attack by themselves (while getting their ETB and on attack triggers as we do so).
Is the precon still good or you have to change way too cards to make it good?
How can you bounce Ugin's Nexus back to your hand before the copy sacs "easily?"
So instead of dagssun, I put in delina wild mage and I've still had more fun with this then I have with the others in a while.
Glad you enjoyed the build!
I also could certainly see that being a good swap, since Delina, Wild Mage lets us get free extra copies of our Warform's to take advantage of their ETB & on attack/damage effects with the added bonus of getting around the legendary rule.
@@GrazzetMTG I recently won a game where delina went into 6 warform copys of Rever titan. Also dagssun is 15$ nowadays
@@hotsaucehunter2570 Fair enough - it looks like Arcum skyrocketed in price since I initially dropped this build so Delina may be the best budget alternative!
would mindslaver work in this deck?
Yes it would - but you would need to be prepared for when you playgroup kicks you out, be cause that it is really degenerate (especially when it gets down to the 1v1).
@@GrazzetMTGhaha i asked them if they were okay with it and they said yes. May regret that one. This is my first deck, would darksteel forge be a good edition?
@@GrazzetMTGalso bought a marionette master
another juicy grixis commander
Yeah - Mishra is certainly no slouch. He's probably one of the more powerful commanders in this set honestly.
A bit late but a token entering as a copy of something enters as whatever it is copying including ETB effects
I wonder since we already have the might stone and weakstone, to sneak urza in there for a meld…
Also I’d love to see a Gix deck or 2019 primal genesis!
Urza, Lord Protector sadly is in white so that not going to be possible in this build. But a Gix build or a tuned up Primal Genesis precon would certainly be fun to build and maybe something I might consider tackling provided I have the time!
What can I cut if I want to play Portal of Phyrexia?
Is the deck still balanced if I only do half the upgrades ?
Yes I'd say so
when will the urza iron alliance commander upgrade be released?
Good question - current release date is 11/26.
Breath of Fury would have the potential of giving infinite combat phases in this deck. Especially if you have tons of evasion
That is a good suggestion! If we can copy Mishra's ability we can just keep putting Breath of Fury on a Warform for infinite combat phases (since he'll always create another one to replace the one we saced at the start of the combat phase) - which would work great with our vehicles with built in evasion!
EDIT: didn't read the original reply, and yep, that'll get you there. I really think Mishra is going to be my "20 combos in a deck"...deck.
Cool!
Glad you enjoyed it!
My friend plays this deck with portal to phyrexia and it’s damn near impossible to thwart….
Has access to blue includes ZERO COUNTERSPELLS in his build.
Good luck.
Can I ask a stupid question and have you help me with a deck idea ? I am very bad at building
Sure - I'll see what I can do to help!
Mishra of Mak Fawa!
Thanks for voting! This younger version of Mishra is currently in the lead, so your candidate may just take the top spot!
@@GrazzetMTG is there a spot to actually vote?
@@TheSpiritombsableye Yes, in the community tap on the channels page there is a poll currently going on - there is also a link in the description of the video. Hope that helps!
I need absolutely zero friends when I run artifact decks so why not include mind slaver :D
Great deck tech as always, godspeed Grazzet
Glad you enjoyed the build! And yeah, Mindslaver is powerful, but I could not in good conscious recommend it because it is such a nasty card that I can't being myself to play it (unless I'm going all in a evil). But hey, if it works for you, then feel free to add it in!
Would you add something like phyrexian fleshgroger or even better wurmcoil engine to this? If so, what would you replace?
@@freddymitchell7598 you can't copy fleshgorger with mishra's ability, it works only for non-creature artifacts
