On the crystal you can go into the configuration file and change the local dimming to 0.001. Basically the closest to the LED's turning off completely in darkness. If you turn the backlight down to 90% you can get almost the brightness of normal settings, but in dark environments you get really close to pitch black without suffering from the gray shimmer ghosting that the normal extreme local dimming causes. It really makes a world of difference.
I've been on the fence about the Crystal due to FOMO on wide FOV of 8kx. Found your content this morning which pushed me over the top. I pulled the trigger this morning using 'Omni' Amazon affiliate link. I sent you a Thanks$' I went with Amazon for the return policy until Jan 31; never know if one will get a faulty HMD. Pimax has sale on Lighthouse Faceplate, but out of stock unless purchased with a bundle. DMAS earphones are out of stock, but I think 8kx DMAS can be used on Crystal. I purchased my Pimax Crystal last night and I'm very excited to use it and give it a full in depth rundown as well. I ordered the DMAS headphones and lighthouse faceplate as well and already have the Studioform Creative Comfort kit as well as the ProVolver cups for the Quest Pro and Index, so I should be all set! It's nice to see you using the bHaptics TactVisor with the Crystal as well. It's fits like a glove with my Varjo Aero as well as with the AMVR velcro facial interface paired with the Quest 3. Will be adding it to the Crystal too. Did you have to do any modifications to have the TactVisor fit well on the Crystal? I've crossed paths with you quite a few times and always enjoy our interactions. Hope to catch you around more often. Cheers!

I did not have to do anything to make the TactVisor fit other than affix the included velcro adhesive to the top of the Crystal so the TactVisor controller stays in place. I will be curious to learn what you think of the Crystal versus the Aero since I haven't tried the Aero. I also want the Crystal Lighthouse faceplate, too and would like to hear your thoughts on that . It's nice to hear from another immersion enthusiast!
wouldn't it be cool if you could watch movies on a big screen, but the room you were in while in vr reflected the location currently on the screen. While on kamino there would be clones all about around you etc.
LOL this was good. I have 7 VR headsets but this one is just out of my price range. Plus I'd have to update my graphics card to even use it probably. I don't even want to try one. I just want to pretend to be happy with what I can afford
Hello, when I connect x40 and two wrist vibrators and add a protube somatosensory gun, one device will not be recognized. It should be that my computer Bluetooth can only connect five devices at the same time. Then after our hardware update, each device is recognized as a double, resulting in one device being unusable. How to solve this problem?
I had that Bluetooth device limit problem (although not the doubling) until I bought a larger Bluetooth antenna. I would link here but UA-cam doesn’t allow links here to fight spam. Mine connects with wires that allow me to move the antenna base farther away from the Motherboard I/O (connections) which both allows for a reduction in signal interference but more importantly it slows for larger antennas (about 12”). I found mine on Amazon and it has a magnetic base. It’s labeled, “Eightwood Dual Band WiFi Antenna 2.4GHz 5GHz RP-SMA WiFi Antennae with 6.5ft Extension Cable for PC Desktop Computer PCI PCIe WiFi Bluetooth Card Wireless Network Router”
I have not found it to be hot. It was not hot during my 3 hour 50 minutes Demeo Stream. Crystal has two active cooling fans that vent to the holes on the faceplate.
I can’t stand wearing eyeglasses with any VR headset and use prescription lens inserts instead but I feel like that the Crystal facial interface might be wide enough for most glasses for what that is worth.

If it means anything, with a bit of modding with foam and an apache head strap, I currently find the Crystal more comfortable than my old Reverb G2
