  • UPDATE 4/18/24 I am now an affiliate with Oblik and you can save $10 using my code ENDER at checkout at www.oblikdesign.com/ through July 31st.
    Since so many of you chose to watch my AMVR Quest 3 Facial Interface, Oblik sent me their custom fit facial interfaces for Meta Quest 3 and Valve Index (They also make one for Quest 2). It uses a scan of your face to custom shape the interface to match and has a silicon pad.
    These interfaces were sent to me free for review and no expectations on my opinion were made by Oblik.
    I do not have a Bobo M3 to test with, but I think since Oblik does not have a forehead component like the AMVR interface does, I don't foresee a fit issue. I do not know about the Quest 3 charging dock at all.
    I think it could work with the bHaptics TactVisor if you CAREFULLY remove the silicon interface and replace that with adhesive hook (velcro), but I don't want to risk damaging the silicon and will just use the AMVR interface for that accessory instead.

    Oh my, one more thing to buy for VR, and expensive one, but it sounds like a must-have one . :-) The light leakage in the stock interface plus the pressure on the face are quite bad. Great review and lighting as many noticed. Thank you for sharing!

    If they make one for the Vive XR Elite I might do it, if it wasn't for the comfort, or really lack there of, I'd use it for PCVR. My Valve Index already fits me really well, I'd never need it for that headset. EDIT: Ah crap, no Vive XR Elite. I paid full price for it and have used it for PCVR, works well for that, but man it is uncomfortable.

    This seems very cool! Right now I’m not using any facial interface on Q3. Just using Bobovr M2Pro with conversion kit. Works great for me! Great back lighting!

    This video gives me some DIY ideas I should try. I have 3d printed facial interface for use with kiwi design q2 foampad, but it's not a perfect fit. Rather then randomly trying to change an stl without a source model, maybe we can use those white thermoplast pellets that softens in hot water and just press around the face. Or use fast curing silicone putty (more expensive option).

    • @EndersVRcade
      @EndersVRcade  7 місяців тому

      I know very little about 3D printing, so while I did not follow a lot of the specifics you mentioned, I do enjoy modding a lot of my VR gear and am glad to hear this video may have inspired you to do some mods of your own.

    They should use a different 3d print method. A resin print would look like a more finished product and professional. It looks janky and like it could pose quality control issues on a mass scale with the mechanical part of the facial interface. I run a ender 3 and would love to sale stuff like this to the public, but with how janky the print looks i would most certainly never do that unless i could get a manufactured mold finish. I understand why they are doing this the way they are, as casting a mold is very expensive and 3d printing allows for rapid changes and prototyping, however i think they should look into the long term of the product ironing out those layer lines with a different style printer and resin is the way to go for that. The mechanical clips will come out more polished and consistent too. That is what i would do if i were to launch this product.

    Glad you reviewed this! Do you feel like this interface improved FOV noticeably over the stock interface for Quest 3?

    • @EndersVRcade
      @EndersVRcade  7 місяців тому +3

      Definitely something I could notice but not a huge amount if that makes sense. Keep in mind, it depends on the preference slider that you set in the app how much you want to trade off comfort vs FOV.

    This is amazing but I do have bhaptics facial interface. If I could somehow use the bhaptics with it I would totally buy it. I could swap out when I don’t play games that support the bhaptics facial interface but man I wonder how it would effect my quest 3 in the long run. Would it wear out the clips constantly swapping in and out

    Went back from AMVR to the stock interface. The AMVR has that large top part that interferes with my halo strap.

    • @jackr.749
      @jackr.749 7 місяців тому

      If you are using the BoBoVR converted M2 or the M3 strap, if you don't use the short front Velcro strap (Strap to top of HMD), then the AMVR facial interface will fit well. By not using that Velcro, it allows for a bigger gap between HMD and M2 strap thus the space needed for the AMVR Facial interface. I have the AMVR, not perfect by any means, but better than the stock interface.

    • @DaveSimkus
      @DaveSimkus 7 місяців тому +1

      @jackr.749 Hey thanks! I removed that little velcro strip and it works! The AMVR with their "silk" cloth insert is definitely more comfortable than stock. One question though, do you notice that the Bobo M3 forehead piece touches the speaker arms on the Quest? It restricts from adjusting the forehead up higher. Not sure if normal. If I force the forehead piece up higher then the sides dig in between the speakers and Bobo arms. But so far this is much better than stock.

    • @jackr.749
      @jackr.749 7 місяців тому

      @@DaveSimkus Hello, I actually have the M2 strap with the conversion kit, it also very much depends on your head shape and face shape, mine is long and narrow. So not quite sure about what you described about the forehead adjustment restriction, I don't have that problem. Wish I could help.
      I find the two little arms on top of the M2 - M3 strap are pretty good at complimenting the forehead part to hold the Quest 3 in place on your face without having to clamp it down like a vice as the Elite style straps do, oh how I dislike those kind of straps for comfort (or lack of) LOL

    I don't see an upside to the AMVR interface at all. It's actually a little bit closer to the lenses on the max setting which isn't good if you wear glasses or have long eye lashes. Meta did a fair bit better this time around with their interfaces. There is less pushing on the forehead and their silicone one is what I'm using. I used to use the KKCOBVR fan interface on my quest 2.

    • @EndersVRcade
      @EndersVRcade  7 місяців тому

      For me the AMVR advantage was for me about the thicker padding for my cheek bones more than anything else because I found the stock one too uncomfortable (and unhygienic being cloth). I agree the FOV isn't noticeably different. I appreciate you sharing your experience that you didn't see an improvement because my perspective is only that. It's great for VR viewers to hear from others because my experience may not be theirs.

    Shouldn't the depth sensor of the Quest 3 be capable to scan your face as well?

    • @EndersVRcade
      @EndersVRcade  7 місяців тому

      The depth sensor is for your external environment (room around you) not your face (internal). It scans your room and hands to judge distance or depth between hands/controllers, headset, and room.

      I can’t say for certain. However based on feedback from others that the AMVR interface with the larger forehead piece was an issue that can be adjusted for and Oblik not having that aspect in theirs, I guess it would work. I don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t.

      @@bluebottles0It's not about ios app per se, it's just iPhones have lidar scanner built in that allows to scan your face. Can't do that with random android phone as they don't have one and even if some of them do API isn't there. So in this case ios/Apple is enabling technology, not restricting.
