    This is another great video but not just for Coders but anyone looking for a job. Now what is show here is indeed tailored for the first-time applicant in billing coding, but it could also apply to anyone looking for employment. This video holds your hand and if you are willing to follow her advice to can not only have a resume that not gets you the interview but makes nailing the job offer almost a foregone conclusion. One has just spent from hundreds to thousands of dollars to obtain the knowledge and have successfully passed a very tough and grueling examination. Now the last thing you want to do if fumble the ball on the one-foot line; you want to go all the way with a clear and well-deserved touchdown. As is the case one can only expect to get out of life what one is willing to put into it. Do the resume distribute it as she says, go to the interview and counter all the obstacles with positives and in short order you will be doing the job you love and the job you have been trained for. Be your best or nothing at all.

    If there is anyone out there wondering if this program is worth it. I say it is worth every single penny and time you put into it. Mrs. Ortega always says to do everything she says and you will pass the CPC exam and I can attest that is 100% true. Without her unique methods of teaching and love that she has for all of her students there is absolutely no way possible I would have passed the CPC exam. I will definitely use these tips to try to land my 1st job as a coder.

    • @MedicalCodingAcademy
      @MedicalCodingAcademy  3 роки тому +2

      Hi love! Record your "get them to bring them in for the interview" video just the way i advise in the beginning of this video and be honest about your lack of "on the job" experience. Admit you did Practicode thinking it would give you all "on the job" experience but realized after the fact that it still didnt satisfy all of the "real world" experiences you were seeking.
      Example:
      "I wanted to share with you that i coded 600 clinical cases thinking it would provide me all of the "on the job" skills i needed. I've realized since then that there are still many skills that can only ever be obtained on the job that I needed. For this reason, not only am I eager to get all the gaps filled in, but my enthusiasm to master these skills couldn't be more filled with deep rooted longing and passion." (Facial and expression and body language will be key here. The fact that this entire matter is very much one that you carry with you in your heart will seep through your face and body) The perspective employer will see your genuine authenticity and immediately root for you.
      From there, pour all 6 of the ingredients I ask you to place in your video. All 6 ingredients work together to captivate the employer and the fact that you have no real on the job experience will become a non issue...it always has and always will.. the guidance in this video is beyond tactical..you will win as you deserve to!!! I can tell you're a go getter and a fighter! I'd like to invite you to our forum:

    I'm currently in school for medical billing and coding, I am working towards being certified in both billing and coding. I applied for a position not really thinking I would get it because I have no experience in billing or coding and no office experience. I thought this would be a good opportunity to gain interview experience for the future and to ask questions. I came across this video and when you said "apply anyway" I wondered if that applied to me because all I have is the classes I'm taking to get into the field in the future. I decided not to go to the interview but I kept hearing the knowledge you were giving out, I called my sister and she was like don't stop just go, the person interviewing me was looking for an experienced biller who had full qualifications. I applied the knowledge you gave in the video and was confident with the questioning. Also when you spoke of general work experience how to sell yourself I applied that too, in the end, she loved me without any work experience. I was asked about my courses how many I have left, what college I'm attending etc. again she said she was looking for someone with experience at the end she says she has time to train me from the bottom up and offered me an internship with pay on the spot. I went to the interview not expecting an internship I was only expecting to get interview experience and ask questions for the future and walked out with a paid internship with the potential of staying on in the future. Thanks for the information you just changed my life!

    Charles Philip Adams
    I really appreciated your suggestions for how to present the resume in a unique way but I still have one question. If you haven't worked in the field yet how can you tell your prospective employer about how good you were at your previous jobs? Isn't that the problem we face if we don't have experience? We have nothing to tell the interviewer regarding how productive we will be. A year ago before the Pandemic hit I had several interviews which seemed to go well but I obviously didn't get any of those jobs. Then they stopped hiring anyone and laid a lot of the coders they had already off and the rest just worked from home. Hopefully sometime this year they will return to using their coding building and they have to return to that facility if they are going to train new hires.

      Hi Charles. I actually provide 3 ways to respond to this question of stating how good you were at your previous jobs if you didnt have any coding experience. Check out all 3 out at the 35:37, 39:52 and 42:36 time codes. These responses coupled with all the rest of the guidance i provide here are total game changers. Let me now what you think. You already went to school and are certified right? Did your school write you a letter of recommendation? I definitely want to see you working in the industry asap..you deserved it long ago!

      @@MedicalCodingAcademy Yes, I went thru CareerStep and have both my CPC-A and the CCA. I will watch the full video. I have to admit I got to the part where you were talking about how to deal with an interview and the issue of no experience and I jumped the gun I guess with my question. Thanks

    I hope one day to learn from Mrs. Ortega's Medical Coding system. I'm really sick and tired of community colleges and universities combining Medical Coding and Billing, as if these two are remotely related? Medical Coding and Billing are completely two different jobs and skill sets.

    So it comes down to money that's the exact opposite reason I want to get into coding

    • @MedicalCodingAcademy
      @MedicalCodingAcademy  3 роки тому +2

      Yes it absolutely does. The medical coder is 100 percent responsible for the collections of the practice, facility or entity. If you want to be in healthcare but dont want to be responsible for the money maybe try medical assisting or nursing...

    I am absolutely THRILLED I found you! But I've got to let you know (with no offense meant WHATSOEVER mind you!), that the overlaying music and sounds and stuff is super distracting and it can get hard to hear you over it. That, however, does not take away from your obvious enthusiasm, great knowledge and PASSION for your work! Thank you, thank you for this, I so appreciate this video! I will definitely be signing up for your courses, it's OBVIOUS how great you are at this! Thanks Ms Ortega!

    Please turn the background music OFF! I couldn’t even make it halfway through because the music is too loud and not even appropriate for the content you’re trying to deliver.

      I know Kimberly...i said the same thing!! i couldn't believe all the work i put into it and then all that music just devastated me!!
