The Sopranos creator David Chase originally wanted Robert De Niro or Ray Liotta to play Tony Soprano and Lorraine Bracco to play Carmella..both De Niro and Ray Liotta turned it down because they weren't interested in doing Television series at the time since drama shows weren't really big at the time. Lorraine didn't want to play Carmella because she claimed that she's done that role before in Goodfellas but was convinced to play the Psychiatrist . Loved your reaction and really hope you get to these highly recommended Mob films... "Casino" (1995) directed by Scorsese/reuniting De Niro and Joe Pesci with Sharon Stone. "A Bronx Tale" (1993) directed by Robert De Niro, starring De Niro and Chazz Palminteri "Scarface" (1983) directed by Brian De Palma, starring Al Pacino, Michelle Pheifer "Donnie Brasco" (1996) starring Al Pacino, Johnny Depp, Michael Madsen
I've seen other Sopranos reactors doing Goodfellas...everybody recognizes Christopher, but best I can recall you're the first to tie him specifically to the Season 1 episode where he shoots the clerk in the foot.
This was definitely one of the better reactions to Goodfellas. Nicely done and pretty sure Christy would have been wacking people as fast as Jimmy after Lufthansa. 😂
The am I funny scene was inspired by real life. Happened to Pesci when he was younger. Told a real mobster he was funny and the guy reacted like you saw in this flick.
Honestly don't know how no one told you/insisted you watch this BEFORE starting The Sopranos, lol, but here we are. Kinda surreal watchalong with ya catching all the cast. Bravo! You should try Brando in 1990's The Freshman. A sorta meta light-comedy flick, if ya want something to sit back to and enjoy, and not have to work on posting.
Yes, that scene from the Sopranos with Christopher shooting the clerk in the foot was an homage to Goodfellas. When Christopher is leaving the pastry shop, the guy who he shot cries "you shot me in the foot". Christopher replies, "It happens!" CLASSIC!
Great reaction Cristy like alwyas, love this movie. Some fun-facts about this movie, some of the real criminals portrayed were actually toned down for the film. The infamous “funny how?” scene wasn’t in the script. This famous (if not the most quoted) scene comes at the beginning, when Pesci's Tommy DeVito jokingly-yet-uncomfortably accosts Henry Hill for calling him "funny." In addition to being the driving force behind the scene on screen, Pesci is also responsible for coming up with the premise. Both of Martin Scorsese’s parents have cameos in this movie. She plays Tommy's mother in the infamous dinner scene following Billy Batts’s murder, but the family connections hardly stop there. Tommy’s mother’s painting of two dogs sitting in front of an old man ("One's going east, and the other one is going west. So what?") was actually painted by co-writer Nicholas Pileggi’s mother. And Scorsese's father Charles also pops up as Henry’s prison compadre who puts way too many onions in the gravy. The large “f**k” count was mostly improvised, among the many things Goodfellas has become famous for over the 30 years is its liberal use of the word “f**k.” In all, the expletive and its many colorful derivatives are used 300 times. I dont know how this movie only went home with one Academy Award. You should react to "Casino" (1995) is another masterpiece from Scorsese, with De Niro and Pesci. Keep up the amazing work.
I think what's brilliant about this movie is you see it from Henry Hills perspective in the beginning everyone's in shock that they glamorize the mafia and everybody wants to be a part of it but later in the movie you realize how fucking dirty this business is the glam wears off and everyone wants out just like Henry BRILLIANT!
21:10 That is because that old lady is Scorsese's Mom and all what Marty told her to do was to bring the picture on the table at some point, no script. Martin Scorsese just put his mom in that scene and told actors to improvise. The whole scene is improvisation surrounding Scorcese's mom :). He did the same thing in CASINO afterwards... RIP Catherine Scorsese
Hello Cristy!😊 The old time gangsters usually would not allow drugs & prostitution. "Casino" (1995) is another film you definitely should watch. It is from the same director (Martin Scorsese) and is also a true story about the mob controlling Vegas. Plus, some familiar faces return in the film. Young Samuel L. Jackson played the small role of Stacks. The character known as Jimmy Conway here also passed away in prison, like Pauly. Both Henry and Karen were kicked out of the witness protection program for drug violations. They got divorced. Henry Hill was active on the Internet for several years before he passed away of natural causes. Great reactions to this very well made and acted film, Cristy!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Joe Pesci's also in "JFK": Oliver Stone's epic film w: Gary Oldman as Lee Harvey Oswald: Kennedy's sniper, Kevin Costner, John Candy, Dan Akroyd, & many more!
In the 90's Animanics did a spoof on this movie called "Goodfeathers" complete with the Godfather pigeon. Absolutely hilarious. This is one movie that makes My Cousin Vinny even MORE funny 😂
RIP Ray Liotta 😢. Did you notice the owner of the restaurant that gets hit is a captain in the Soprano's,and the drug dealer in the motel is the guy run over in Soprano's
Actual mob members had some screen time in this especially when Henry is walking through the nightclub describing some of the "fellas" and during the "funny how?" scene which Pesci and Liotta improvised a lot of.
The Mo Green thing in The Godfather is what happened to George "Bugsy" Segal. The Jewish mobster who actually built Las Vegas from a small desert Outpost to the gambling capital of the United States.
When Michael Imperioli shoots the pastry clerk in the foot on the Sopranos the guy starts yelling about it. Christopher looks back at the guy on the way out the door and says "It happens".
In the 1st restaraunt scene, Tommy says "The Bank job all the way in Secaucus, I'm in the middle of the fkin weeds laying down." ... Thats where I live, in the weeds, literally lol.
I'm glad you enjoyed Goodfellas! It's definitely one of my all time favorite mafia movies. So many memorable characters and quotable lines. As you noticed, there's a good amount of actors here that ended up in the Sopranos. I think you should watch Donnie Brasco next. It's another awesome mafia movie based on true events. I don't want to say too much about it so if you do watch it you can go go in blind.
42:52 The guy in the scene talking to Henry and Karen is playing himself. He was the actual federal agent who got the real Henry Hill into witness protection.
Tommy's mom is Martin Scorsese's mom in real life, & the painting with the two dogs she painted herself. Lil' trivia tidbit for ya. Best mob movie imo.
I don't think the mob would have messed with his dad. They would look at it more like "If you don't want to catch a beating from your dad, you don't get caught."
Definitely have to watch Casino next. It’s another too quality Scorsese movie with Joe Pesci and De Niro, and a great cast based on true events. Glad you liked this one, it’s definitely one of my all around favorites, definitely favorite mafia movie along with Casino (don’t tell anyone I said I like them more than Godfather, I’d hate to get whacked 😂😂😂)
This movie has a lot of cast members also in the Sopranos (27 in both). Karen’s mom is also Carm’s mom. Scorsese does an amazing job romanticizing this lifestyle, the restaurant date scene his one of my all time favorite scenes.

Yeah, not only in Colombia people are named María or Juan, all of Latin America has those names. In Mexico, I must have met two dozens of Marías and Juans.
Frank Vincent asked Martin Scorsese for a lead, they're stars, they have tag lines. I've been in 40 movies & no one knows my name. Marty said why didn't you say so. You want Billy Batts. Frank Vincent freaked out. BILLY BATTS? He dies in the opening credits, are you nuts. But - Frank Vincent stated if he had known everyone was going to shout at him. "Billy Batts! Go home & get your shine box" he would have said the line better. *The part of the wife in The Sopranos was offered to Lorraine Bracco. She wouldn't consider it. I'm not playing two mob wives in a row. But, the psychiatrist Jennifer Melfi looks very interesting to me. Any chance I can get that part?

GOODFELLAS represents organized crime more accurately than most other movies of this genre. THE GODFATHER while an excellent movie is a fictionalized version of organized crime. Excellent reaction and it's good to know you are learning more and more about the subjects you cover.
If you want a more realistic depiction of how Italian organized crime works, watch Gomorrah or especially The Traitor by Marco Bellocchio which I would consider a documentary in movie form, they've even recreated some scenes from the trial down to a tee and Pierfrancesco Favino is amazing at impersonating Tommaso Buscetta. Gomorrah's story and characters are fictional but inspired by real events and people, so you don't get to learn a real story but you get a pretty accurate picture of the Camorra (Neapolitan mafia) in the 2000s.
Goodfellas is a brutal, realist, and darkly funny insight incorporating America’s brutal immigrant experience that highlights why the mafia -- while they have great stories -- shouldn't be seen as idols to aspire to. If you can, watch The Irishman as well. It's the most somber deconstruction of the genre you'll ever see and it's Scorsese's swan song on the genre as we know it.
He spent the last years of his life feeling miserable about his life & ill from poor diet & alcoholism. Never any money in his pockets, sitting on a bar stool, repeating his story (a story) to anyone willing to buy him a drink.
given your affinity for The Sopranos, this movie is just perfect for you...believe that Joe Pesci's Oscar-winning speech for his role in this movie is still the shortest in history, but don't quote me
Casino next another great mob classic. They bring back Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci and they have Sharon stone. And once again, the film is based on a true story. And three of the main leads like Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Sharon Stone, their characters are based on real people.
No one ever noticed that Karen's mother is the also Camila's mother on the Sopranos
“One dog goes one way and the other dog goes the other way. And this guy’s saying, ‘Whaddya want from me?’” my favourite part
Ikr. It's excellent and tells a lot about how Tommy sees the world 🙂
The Sopranos creator David Chase originally wanted Robert De Niro or Ray Liotta to play Tony Soprano and Lorraine Bracco to play Carmella..both De Niro and Ray Liotta turned it down because they weren't interested in doing Television series at the time since drama shows weren't really big at the time. "Casino" (1995) directed by Scorsese/reuniting De Niro and Joe Pesci with Sharon Stone.
"A Bronx Tale" (1993) directed by Robert De Niro, starring De Niro and Chazz Palminteri
"Scarface" (1983) directed by Brian De Palma, starring Al Pacino, Michelle Pheifer
"Donnie Brasco" (1996) starring Al Pacino, Johnny Depp, Michael Madsen

Well man The Cristy abides!
I've seen other Sopranos reactors doing Goodfellas...everybody recognizes Christopher, but best I can recall you're the first to tie him specifically to the Season 1 episode where he shoots the clerk in the foot.
And he walks away saying "it happens"
There are several Goodfellas references in The Sopranos ...
27 actors who appear in this movie appear in the Sopranos! That's pretty wild!
You would love "Casino"
"Just nip it in the butt." I'm dying
Definitely watch Casino next, you’ll love it
Another mob classic is "Casino" directed by the same legendary Director and staring the same legendary actors.
This was definitely one of the better reactions to Goodfellas. Nicely done and pretty sure Christy would have been wacking people as fast as Jimmy after Lufthansa. 😂

Since she liked Pesci so much, she should also watch My Cousin Vinny. He's as good in that as he's bad in this one...
Check out the movies American Gangster(2007), American Me(1992), Menace ll Society(1993), Training Day(2001), Jackie Brown(1997), and Scarface(1983).
Yes, that scene from the Sopranos with Christopher shooting the clerk in the foot was an homage to Goodfellas. When Christopher is leaving the pastry shop, the guy who he shot cries "you shot me in the foot". Christopher replies, "It happens!" CLASSIC!
It's cool you showed the continuous shot of them walking into the back of the Copa and appreciated it. So many don't

Casino is the same style and cast movie, don't miss.
Pesci’s Oscar. “Analyze This” Mob comedy with Robert De Niro & Billy Crystal
So many Goodfellas actors are in the Sopranos, its great!
27 actors that have from main role to seconds of appearance in Goodfellas appeared later in The Sopranos.
IMHO this is a best mafia movie out there.
arguably THE BEST gangster movie ever made! LOVED your reaction! 👍☺

Cristy two times, Loyalty and Loyalty
You’re really in tune with these mafia shows/movies. Great reaction!
Now ya need to watch Casino
‘Being a gangster was better than being president of the United States.’ I saw your face!
Tommy's mom is Martin Scorsese's mom in real life, & the painting with the two dogs she painted herself. Lil' trivia tidbit for ya.
Best mob movie imo.
Actually the painting was done by the mother of Nicholas Pileggi, the man who wrote Wiseguys, the book on which the movie was based.
Lots of actors from The Sopranos in this. I can watch this movie any time it's on without getting tired of it.
I don't think the mob would have messed with his dad. They would look at it more like "If you don't want to catch a beating from your dad, you don't get caught."
R.I.P. Ray Liotta ❤

Henry and Karen's daughters when they were little were Lorraine Bracco's real daughters.
What a treat on a Friday night. Thanks so much for the upload! Now you are obligated to do Casino - you'll enjoy it for sure 😄
Billy batts was above all of them. He was a made guy and none of them were. They can’t kill a made guy
This, Pulp Fiction and 300 are in my top 5

As a Soprano fan (and fan of Cristy Sopranos reactions); so glad you have this now as foundational reference!
This movie was a role playing audition for Sopranos. What if Joe Pesci was casted on Sopranos? Could have been funny; Funny how; how the F*$&!
.
Thomas DeSimone (the real life character played by Joe Pesci) was an unhinged psychopath who had no problem murdering women and children.
One day, Henry said that they were walking in the street and Tommy had bought a new gun and he shot and killed a random guy in the street just to try it and wasn't the least bothered by this senseless murder.
Just like in the movie he killed that waiter who told him to go fuck himself and he killed Billy Batts who told him to go bring his fucking shinebox.
Truth is that Tommy's body was never found, he disapeared in 1979 and the accepted theory is that he was whacked by future crime boss of the Gambino familly John Gotti who was a close friend of Billy Batts.
Gotti had to get permission from Paulie as Paulie was a capo in the Lucchese familly and Paulie probably gave the go-ahead because Tommy was too much of a liability and the real money was with Jimmy.
Have you seen Swingers?

After turning to a life of crime, Cristy had to cut a deal with the feds to escaping being whacked by the mob.
Fun fact: Tommy’s mother in the movie is Martin Scorsese’s real mother
One of my top five favourites movies. it's based on the nico pileggi's book "Wiseguy", and it's a true story.
greetings from Rimini, Italy
I recommend searching youtube for "Henry Hill Howard Stern". He used to go on the show totally wasted.
You'll absolutely love the Movie "Raging Bull" Deniro and Pesci are the Stars of the Movie.
Good choice! For your next epic movie watch Mel Gibson's APOCALYPTO (2006) an incredible film with a great story. MUST SEE!!
Cristy’s reaction to the Billy Bats killing is why you should never bring along a chick if you’re going to murder someone.
And she has no idea who the Billy Batts actor is in the Sopranos, though in fairness she hasn't seen that much of him yet because he doesn't get really big until season 6.
Good film......
My cousin is depicted and I was around some of these guys when I was a kid.
De Niro the GOAT.
I think they censored the ticket because the airline didn't want to be associated with drug trafficking.
@22:24. "CHRISTOPHAAAA"
I love when women get upset that Henry smacked karen when she had a gun to his head. "Leave him girl! He smacked you!" Completely ignoring the fact she had a LOADED GUN COCKED AND POINTED AT HIS FACE! Unbelievable.

GOODFELLAS represents organized crime more accurately than most other movies of this genre. THE GODFATHER while an excellent movie is a fictionalized version of organized crime. Excellent reaction and it's good to know you are learning more and more about the subjects you cover.
Sopranos is more accurate
Goodfellas still fictionalized and toned down a lot of what really happened. It skips over the tons of petty evil those guys did every day.
@@przemekkozlowski7835 the mob isn't as barbaric as the mexicans
If you want a more realistic depiction of how Italian organized crime works, watch Gomorrah or especially The Traitor by Marco Bellocchio which I would consider a documentary in movie form, they've even recreated some scenes from the trial down to a tee and Pierfrancesco Favino is amazing at impersonating Tommaso Buscetta. Gomorrah's story and characters are fictional but inspired by real events and people, so you don't get to learn a real story but you get a pretty accurate picture of the Camorra (Neapolitan mafia) in the 2000s.
please react to snatch
i totally agree. and also "the lock, the stock..."
@ never seen a reactor that didn’t instantly love both movies 👍
Agreed! Snatch and Casino.
Ooo! React to the movie too!
Goodfellas is a brutal, realist, and darkly funny insight incorporating America’s brutal immigrant experience that highlights why the mafia -- while they have great stories -- shouldn't be seen as idols to aspire to. Now you have to review Casino - like Good Fellas, but even better imo
One of my all time fav movies.
your eyes are completely gorgeous!🤩😍
As good as this is, an important thing to remember is, Henry Hill was a drug addict, and, a RAT, so, his word should be taken with a grain of salt.

Gotta do A Bronx Tale
The city was definitely classier when the mob ran it 😊
I can see it her Cristy's eyes. She loves the gangster shit. Normal dudes aren't for her. She will just look at them like they are weak.
Good morning gorgeous lady. It's great seeing you.
Fear of not respect. It's more motivating.
Scorsese at his best!
Please react to Casino
Cristy....simply put....you are so, so cool.
you gotta watch Casino now
Great movie!
Great reaction!
