- DJI is a Chinese company, and is the world's largest manufacturer of drones, with over 70% of the global market share and with up to 90% of the sales in the US market. DJI drones are used by 90% of America's first responder units.
In the National Defense Authorization Act legislation that advanced to the Senate, DJI drones will be banned for use or sale in the United States.
Local governments and police and fire departments are fighting back, insisting that DJI drones are stronger, fly farther, have more robust communications packages, and are one fifth the cost of US-built drones. They have grave concerns that the bans on DJI will have a huge adverse impact in their search and rescue missions, policing of criminals, fire control and prevention, and locating missing children.
Especially worrisome is the case of major disasters and mass casualty events in remote locations, such as earthquakes, floods, or avalanches.

A few years ago I looked into vlogging/livestreaming, and was taken aback that DJI had the best products based on reviews and features. Like most people in the U.S. I was wary of using a Chinese product with a Chinese app. It was literally an "ah-ha" moment along the lines of... "wait a minute, I thought Chinese products are just rip-offs and cheap clones of American products...? But these DJI gimbals etc. have features no other product has...?"
I've been slow to understand that the Chinese have already passed us in tech capability in many areas, given that you don't really hear that on mainstream media. I bet 99% of Americans aren't even aware and were as naïve as I was. Really love how this channel fills in the picture and helps correct wrong assumptions.

You all forget that USA defense companies make some of The most sophisticated drones in the world and most of them have commercial divisions that sell drones to USA government agencies. 10 years ago I sponsored longest commercial drone flight in world history using commercial version of a military drone. Flew 250 miles in about an hour with a vertical take off drone. All remotely flown by fAA certified pilots. USA has very capable drone makers . I have USA made drones in my warehouses in USA that use AI to count inventory now. Don’t underestimate USA ability . In undergrad I built a drone and programmed it as part of a class. Mine and everybody else in our class made terrible drones that were shaky. I have so much respect for the people at DJI, it’s hard

If the establishment thinks DJI are a problem just wait until they "discover" the cheap yet very capable drones from Xiaomi; their V168 has range, performance, two good cameras, automatic obstacle avoidance, and all the GPS associated little benefits (including auto return to base when the battery gets low). Useful (clear line of sight) range is up to 5km.

i suspect that expense isn't the reason the Pentagon refuse to rip out their Huawei gear. Isn't "Damn The Expense" the Motto of the Pentagon? Maybe the reason is technical qualities such as reliability, sophistication, etc.

The resulting Trade Bloc will decimate both the trade and influence of USA in everything from Energy supply to raw materials, to the trade routes (Consider the Suez Canal, Red Sea, Countries either side of which are all considering membership)
I think that's why "Tensions" around Iran/ Lebanon, etc are rising. They would be part of the Trade route from Turkey down towards UAE, across Saudi Arabia and back up through Egypt, also linking the highway across North Africa from Egypt to Gibraltar.

DJI encrypts flight log data which forces users to go to API to get info and puts all their information on servers in Communist China where government then can see photos (not videos) with exact coordinates …not terebytes of data not even close. And yes US security organizations have seen these data transfers. Beyond that there is classified data indicating even more concerning data being transmitted. It’s the perfect spy tool! This is why national security people have issued warnings .
