My dad passed away by suicide in June of 2021..the day after father's day. He was raised in the 70s, looked like a country hippie, and loves these music. Now, whenever this song comes on, I know my dad's in peace and venturing around the highway in Ventura. Perhaps driving a classic car. He's free from pain and these music makes me think of him and gives me some healing of good things and memories. Thank you to so many who commented and liked. While I know this isn’t about popularity, I just want everyone to know I’m grateful and do appreciate the love and support. This song gives me a time when life is free and how my dad can just drive his mustang anywhere and speed down the highways to the beat of life. Also, mental health wise, I hope you all are doing okay. Times are tough in this world, but give yourself the love you need. Hugs and love to all! Xoxo
1973, summer. Relationship just ended, decided to drive the California/Oregon/ Washinton coast alone from San Diego to the Canadian border. This is one of the songs I'd play with nowhere to be and in no hurry to get there. met a lot of people out there just like me. The goal was the journey, not the destination. Still is to this day, now 70.
Pretty sure every generation says something similar about new technology. I get what you’re saying, though. The radio, tv, etc. Sigh. Our grandchildren will probably not be able to remember a time before holographic conversations with our friends. 🤷🏻♀️
Some of us still live that simpler life, and it's definitely more calm and fulfilling 🎉mainly come to you tube for music like this, so that I can reminisce, flooding my home with fantastic energy from these simpler days🥂💃🎉
Since I was a young teenager, I wanted to see Ventura Highway. I passed Ventura on the train to Santa Barbara. It seems so peaceful. One thing off my bucket list.
This song is timeless, as it's not just about the 70s. But rather it's about a feeling. A feeling of freedom and joy. Taking life one day at a time. And not not taking yourself too seriously. Truly a classic of Americana and a free spirit.
@Erin Walter The road is about 20 miles all along the ocean which is on your right as you drive south towards Ventura and on your left as you drive north to Santa Barbara. Beautiful views of the beaches. Towards sundown driving north the sun will set over the ocean, and I saw the green flash for the only time in my life. You have to pick your spots to drive the road because rush hour can get hectic. But any time between 10 am and 3 pm the road is open and always at night with nice warm breezes. It’s an old freeway, with palm trees and shrubbery separating the two sides, two lanes each side. The song really does set and capture the mood of the road and the drive. Just before Ventura you can get off the freeway and take Highway 1 all the way down to Malibu and Santa Monica. That’s a nice ride too and if you keep it under 70 the cops won’t ever bother you.
This song among many others, always reminds me of my old stoner hippie cool uncle. I miss him dearly. Kickin back, playing guitar and drums sitting on the couch in an old country home in the middle of nowhere I miss those days. Rest in peace Uncle
Chewing on a piece of grass Walking down the road Tell me, how long you gonna stay here Joe? Some people say this town don't look Good in snow You don't care, I know Ventura highway in the sunshine Where the days are longer The nights are stronger Than moonshine You're gonna go I know 'Cause the free wind is blowing through Your hair And the days surround your daylight There Seasons crying no despair Alligator lizards in the air Wishin' on a falling star Watchin' for the early train Sorry boy, but I've been hit by Purple rain Aw, come on Joe, you can always Change your name Thanks a lot son, just the same Ventura highway Where the days are longer The nights are stronger Than moonshine You're gonna go I know 'Cause the free wind is blowin' through Your hair And the days surround you daylight There Seasons crying no despair Alligator lizards in the air
Cette chanson représente la liberté, quand j’écoute cette chanson, je m’imagine en Californie dans une décapotable en train de rouler au bord de la mer et c’est juste trop le bonheur

@@Berthalle I was born in 1969. I am a child of the 70’s, and believe me when I tell you that I am very aware of the bad times.
Wouldn't it be the same if you chose not to use social media?
This song brings me me to tears

This song reminds me of a better time when California was still young.
When California still rocks in the highway without Californication yet

Esto fue es y será siempre música ❤❤❤ muchas gracias, un abrazo desde La Habana, Cuba!!!
That's how I view today's music to the past years. The young people don't realize those songs told you something...THE 1970s were magical

Alligators, Lizards in the air are clouds. For those that live in NYC , i can't explain.
Chewing on a piece of grass
Walking down the road
Tell me, how long you gonna stay here Joe?
Some people say this town don't look
Good in snow
You don't care, I know
Ventura highway in the sunshine
Where the days are longer
The nights are stronger
Than moonshine
You're gonna go I know
'Cause the free wind is blowing through
Your hair
And the days surround your daylight
There
Seasons crying no despair
Alligator lizards in the air
Wishin' on a falling star
Watchin' for the early train
Sorry boy, but I've been hit by
Purple rain
Aw, come on Joe, you can always
Change your name
Thanks a lot son, just the same
Ventura highway
Where the days are longer
The nights are stronger
Than moonshine
You're gonna go I know
'Cause the free wind is blowin' through
Your hair
And the days surround you daylight
There
Seasons crying no despair
Alligator lizards in the air

70s music played like gifts that artists wanted to personally present to our ears because they loved us. 😊
