- This is one of my fake cables that I got of curiosity - how does fake top of the line cable fare compared to cheaper original?
And whats the fuss about digital audio cables - do they work, or is it another bottle of snake oil?

I have the same cable. Works with TV. Produces a very clear picture and little noise on gray and color. There are cables of this series that are poorly assembled. You need to choose a trusted seller.

I have Thunderbird lined up for the review and yes, dimishng returns are true and its better to spend that 100USD on some power cable or just some good wine ;)
You won’t notice the difference in a still image but it makes a big difference to action and complicated audio scenes. You are lucky to own a I2s system, my room needs treating before I would consider one.
I saw a article on the web with colorimeter measurements for different cables (taken on stills) and there are measurable though very small differences. Interesting thing that you can actually measure it. I am not as big video freak as I am in audio so I just went with large screen, fake vodkas and real cinnamons for my AVR setup :)
Fully agree by experience for many years now and extensively! :-) Well explained. 🙂 And oh yes, I have a very good LG Oled television and yes you can see the difference easy. But as always: you have to have a revealing system, so of course also a good screen if it is about the visuals. Greetings again and I did erase my DBS story and wrote a correction there, read it. 🙂

Nope, nothing really. Customs judge the value based on the invoice value (for stuff over 150Eur) so there's no problem because the value there is always lower. And you know, these are cables. Who sane would pay for them more than 150Euro? ;)
I agree... i am just worried because in Croatia they are super crazy at customs
@@k4syx i am considering to get Firebird speaker cable... that is well over 150Euro.... so, i am worried if it does not arrive from EU center of distribution but directly from China to my address, then cutoms will stop the order and aks for the receipts and if they conclude it is a fake, they will try to "destroy it"... on the other hand, i can see you ordered and got so many of them and others from Europe are getting them - so maybe it will go through normally....

I recently changed from an Audioquest Carbon USB (Real) to Curious Cables USB (Real) and the difference was profound from SoTM Streamer to Chord DAC. Clear Improvement across the board, its not even close. Much better in all aspects.
Have you tried Carbon with DBS disconnected?

@@EricRhodeslivesBetter depends on your preferences: but it does influence the sound a little: without it there's a bit more dynamic and transparency. Try it if you still have that Carbon
My AQ Carbon doesn't have DBS. My AQ Diamond does. I think Coffee is where they start, no?

Do you hear the difference between silver and copper cables/interconnect?
Silver plated and copper, yes I do. Silver plated tend to be a bit more precise, faster, which gives impression of being bright with less bass. But that's just an impression because good silver plated cables are just better. On the other hand there are cables like QED micro silver speaker cable which are executed badly and are just fatiguing (as opposed to f.e. silver anniversary XT that sounds just right)
@@k4syx what about pure silver cables from AliExpress, do you recommend those with high price tag?
@@k4syx I heard pure silver has less bass but more top end extension, Im afraid it will make my system shrill
@@MasterofPlay7 well executed silver plated cables don't do that (like my fake Dragons or WELs or AudioNote or real Wireworlds). Try to borrow that kind of cable if you have some audio friends or shops nearby
Interesting, especially the differences in tv applications.
Maybe I'll go for a DDC in the future, but I'll probably won't buy an expensive I2S cable, just an average cheap "fake" from ali.
Currently I'm using my SMSL D1SE2 with the iFi iPurifier 3.
Overall, the sound is more alive, puchy, dynamic and full bodied, more focused. But I've also found out a slight loss in the air frequencies, which contributes to give a more warm presentation but also makes upper treble a little bit muted.
Do you think that a DDC would be an improvement?
I saw there are also cheap ones like Douk U2 PRO, or SMSL PO100 PRO, but maybe they are not worth it over the iFi.
SMSL po100 pro would be the one I would recommend for a start - I have it and you can find my review on it (also douk one, I have both of them however douk doesn't have iis). I would hate loss of dynamic and airiness with my electrostats:)
@@k4syx cool, I checked that smsl video. However, Douk U2 PRO has iis... I can see it on google pictures. Is the difference between these cheap DDCs and something like Gustard, Matrix, ecc. that big?
@@danieleturrin5625 ok I didn't see that "Pro". I'll have to check it out. SMSL one was the best with best value, Gustard is my choice for my best setup as electrostats are transparency kings. Try with SMSL (haven't heard the Pro Douk variant) and if you'll like the effect go with something more expensive.
How much is price? On Ali?
I've paid 60usd for 0.75m (that was with some coupons etc)
@@k4syx by the way, have you tried the AQ Hurricane power cable? What's your opinion using one of such fake cable to your main power amp or even main to conditioner? Are such cable quality good enough ?
@@ZEN_X999 they are really good. I haven't reviewed Hurricane but look for my videos on Blizzard and Silver Cloud. And there are WEL and Dragon coming too so stay tuned!

@@ZEN_X999 I dont have hurricane to compare them: however, basing on my experience with AQ fakes so far they follow the originals ladder: higher positoned sound better than lower positioned. Stay tuned for reviews of Dragon and WEL power cables.
