    One thing I’ve learned about diet from my experience, is cutting bad foods from your diet is much more effective than adding healthy foods.
    I used to eat terrible, but I would also add super-nutritious food during the day to try to balance it out. But I’ll tell you, nothing made a bigger impact on my health than cutting out the bad food and not even bothering with super nutrition. It’s simpler, the food tastes good and I’m healthier.

    I learned all about Chaga on my own while harvesting it alone in the woods and it wouldn’t surprise me to learn the Indians used it for all there ailments knowing how good it is for the body they must have known.
    All modern med is ancestor to the alchemy of the past which is the roots of modern medicine.
    So many cultures over millennia made the meds or there time same as we do and They worked then and will also work now.So many things have been lost in the past or never documented only by word of mouth but our ancestors knew what they were doing even way back when ,we just forget.

    I never hear many talk of Chaga so it always interests me because here in Vermont I have made my living in winter doing Chaga and foraging in summer and spring for mushrooms of all kinds and picking fiddleheads,Ramps,leeks
    I was picking 100 pounds of Chaga every week then selling it to a mushroom guy.
    Stuff sells for $40 a pound dry so great money and truly there is nothing better For the body.
    We have a lot of yellow birch in Vermont over white birch which you would find more of in Maine.
    You can use chaga to make a basic tea that works great as an antioxidant but if you want to get the 200+ other good things in Chaga to work for your body you have to break it down with an alcohol solution and make a concentrate to eye drop into your drinks.
    Chaga grows any place on the tree so it can and often does grow 20,30,50 feet of the ground and you need tree climbing gear to get the stuff ,it’s hard work but a self created well paying job and it’s good for people so it feels good doing it.
    For an athlete there is not much better then Chaga.
    Only down side is it takes years to grow and I noticed I was whipping out spots completely of it then realized this and started leaving 10% to 20% of the Chaga mushroom behind that’s like soft rotted wood in texture or A kin to cork and if not careful you can totally annihilate Chaga form an entire state lake North Dakota did which now has no more Chaga because it’s been picked clean.
    Vermont is full Chaga and it would be hard for anyone to do it on the scale I was anywhere in the U.S unless your in Russia in the Vast woods of the Tiber which is loaded with Chaga and they have known about it for 1000 years.
    It only grows on a cold northern climate so Canada would have lots as well.
    It’s rare stuff and you can only harvest it in winter when all the good stuff is frozen and locked in it.

    • @CagedPaps
      @CagedPaps 5 місяців тому

      @@retribution999 Well I just told you, when they tried to expand too far they were defeated. Never managed to take Scotland and built a wall to keep them out of England. And finally beaten by a force fueld by dairy and meat. Part of their demise was not being able to defend their large borders.
      If you want to know how they managed it you should read a book, they're famous for expanding their empire not through brute force but being well trained and using numbers. You must have heard of their engineering, the road systems? They had a professional army, made famous by their tactics such as the testudo formation - (the tortoise formation, that's where it comes from). The fortified camps (castra). Siege engines. You've probably heard the phrase 'divide and conquer'? - Very popular with the Romans, what better way than have your enemy defeat itself.
      You can go on and on. But, maybe you're right, maybe it was because they ate grain and they lost it all and defeated because they were too big and strong. Though some food for thought, we know they weren't particularly big due to skeletons, the average was 5'6". We know they were a professional army so trained, did drills, long marches. We also know they ate meat when available and drank wine. But again, maybe you're right, maybe the big soldiers you speak of have just never been found. They also struggled with famine at times, this grain you speak of they'd at times rely on Egytpt and North African imports.

    I have been into all types of diets and exercise programs over the years, but this has been my final destination. Good health is a balance of calories ingested to calories expended. Feeding your body only what it needs to survive is the key.
    If you exercise often, you eat more, if not you eat less. The body has a natural wisdom to heal itself and run efficiently, and putting as little stress as possible on the digestive system allows this to happen. When I do eat, I follow a lot of what Laird does. I never use dairy, and white sugar and flour to a minimum.
    The main staple of my diet is fatty fish like sardines, oils like olive and avocado,
    and I juice celery and carrots for vegetable nutrients. Something he did not mention here is organic, I almost never eat anything that is not organic. Stay far away from all processed foods like those egos in his freezer.

    What about Coconut oil?

  • @andresil8330
    @andresil8330 4 роки тому

    Why is everyone commenting about he saying coconut oil?? This isn’t a thing in USA? Pretty common where I live.

    • @mikegrand4181
      @mikegrand4181 4 роки тому

      He said it many times in a short interview. Coconut oil is used in the US, more so in Hawaii where Laird lives, but the average obese American eats much more omega 6 oils like corn, canola and vegetable which are deadly. People also eat meals that contain the harmful oils with sugar and that is the worst.

    I usually love Graham's interviews but being a surfer and someone who looks forward to diet tips and getting in depth looks at a world class athletes regiments I have to say this was one of the worst interview segments and camera work I've ever seen. I mean, Laird, who wrote one of the best books for health and fitness about 8 yrs ago, opens up his fridge to show exactly what he's eating and the camera was out of focus. They totally missed numerous shots and when Laird hits on a interesting point about health fats and how the brain uses these fats Graham goes to a total generic question, totally skipping over that HUGE point about ADD and useful info for people about fat for fuel and Graham follows that with, "what are your staples in your diet"?!?!?! Really? What a awful follow up, considering what Laird is giving. And the camera work again is atrocious!!!! Arrogant Graham dropped the ball on this one and the Kelly Slater interview as well. Disappointing Graham what an opportunity missed.

    pretty sure my alcohol intake is all about the buzz not the sugar!

    • @whitegoodman7465
      @whitegoodman7465 5 років тому

      There is no sugar in regular alcohol like beer, vodka, whiskey, etc..and it also doesn't turn to sugar in the body when consumed which is also a big myth but can be stored as fat because of the certain way its metabolized in the body, so laird is a little off with that one.

    That seems like a pretty weird diet. Don't understand the coffee and creamers. What does he mean by "raw dairy"? Why is he eating fish in plastic wrappers whilst living so close to the ocean? That said he looks great and is living proof it works.

    • @kmsch986
      @kmsch986 2 роки тому

      Some people call the SCOBY or mother a mushroom because it is fungal species or other yeast species, and kombucha means mushroom tea so he’s not too far off even though technically it’s a combination of yeasts and bacteria. I noticed the lack of veggies, but on Gabbys videos noticed they had huge garden so tended to pick most of what they ate fresh daily, benefit of gardening in Hawaii

    • @meowmix1569
      @meowmix1569 4 роки тому +2

      I would think he would lack the crazy amount of energy in that case. If you have chronic fatigue of some type, caffeine only brings you up to baseline.

      @3RD Werks Well, most people like chiros that claim AF is real are really describing HPA Axis dysfunction. You can eat proper and still have this. In my case I was taking too many stimulants for too wrong. I'm sure excessive stress, poor sleep, and other variables can cause this too.

      I’m an athlete, I drink coffee, and I have adrenal fatigue. I should not be having coffee because it definitely makes it worse. When you exercise regularly (overexercise as well) you release cortisol and adrenaline into your blood stream. I struggle tremendously with insomnia because the cortisol and adrenaline from exercise keep me up even though I’m exhausted. Adrenal fatigue isn’t uncommon in athletes
