      "Candolf the Grey" was suggested, along with other brilliant names but looking at his face I think he needs something more "real". I'll know it when I hear it. He looks like he thinks wise old thoughts, lol so I want something to reflect that..

    How nice to see your forest once more! As for your trash bin, on FB I suggested Venerable Mungus, but I kept thinking.... In honor of Treebeard (Tolkien) perhaps Onod, which in Sindarin, (Tolkien's invented Elvish language), the word for Ent.
    Loved seeing you create again. Thanks so much, Sharon.

    I love this ..It’s just so creative,but your whole craft room is just like walking into a fart land and why not have a bin that follows the whole theme...I love home,it was amazing watching him come to life ...I think he needs an old name like Eldred ,I don’t know what it’s meaning is but it’s a widely used name from 1300/1400 Medieval period and I think he deserves an old a tie to name ..Love n Light 🥰

    An idea for people who want out side projects: I have watched on other channels featuring cement planters instead of paper mache. They did cloth in thin set cement. You can create almost the same texture and of course the painting had to be sealed if using acrylic paint. It's the only thing that IV ever seen that is featured out side.

    • @WhereTheGnomesLive
      @WhereTheGnomesLive  2 роки тому +1

      I've never tried this but others have told me that sealing their projects, (made from the materials shown in this video) with an exterior sealer worked for them, you'd have to seal every part though so no moisture seeps in

    You kind of hinted about him one day being outside. I think he would make an awesome planter. Maybe put a jar inside the the potted plant sitting on the jar. Folage would look cool. I want to make these with different shaped old buckets etc...but for outside?? Please respond thx @wherethegnomeslive

    • @CrixJoki
      @CrixJoki 3 роки тому +1

      Could work if you use a few coats of outdoor varnish on it :)

    • @WhereTheGnomesLive
      @WhereTheGnomesLive  3 роки тому +1

      I hinted about him being outside? I don't recall saying that, my apologies if I did though.... all my builds are for interior, they're all inside my craft room and will stay there. Anything that goes outside would have to be sealed first with an exterior sealer. I've never done it myself but others have told me it worked for them. I don't know the best product to use but I'm sure you could ask at your local paint store, they should know. As for a planter, I want to make one of those too and thinking about what I've seen for sale, like planter baskets, they are lined with plastic on the inside so that's what I will do when I make one. It might become a project for a video!

    • @mamarhondasworld7104
      @mamarhondasworld7104 3 роки тому

      @@WhereTheGnomesLive I was thinking even him or as someone suggested in the comments..a free man. Plastic liner or even gravel in the bottom of the bucket and setting a potted plant in it.
      I'll try the sealer idea. Thank you!! Luv your channel!

    So happy you're back, sorry to hear about the mold situation. I hope it's all worked out now, and you can relax. Absolutely love this little guy! I think I might have to do this to my little trash bin in my craft room. It keeps tipping over too. Very annoying. Who designed those things, anyway? heh Thank you so much for sharing. I love learning from you. Now if I can get over my nerves and actually make something with your techniques. This might just be a good place to start. If I mess it up, well, it's a trash can. So no harm done.. haha Thank you, Sharon.. again, very glad to have you back.

    You should consider putting a few of your smaller pieces up on Etsy and then linking the shop to your UA-cam channel. Many Creators are doing it with the stuff they make for videos. Don’t forget to value your time and effort. If you build it, people will come!
    Because I’d sure as heck pay money for that Garbage can if I’d seen it on Etsy.*
    *it’s the scrunching part, my hands are very painful. I can’t even write a note or fill out a form in one shot. I suppose that’s why we have kids though besides reading the directions on those blasted labels we used to laugh at our parents about.

    This is one of THE MOST clever things I have seen for upcycling I have ever seen and lends so well to the fantasy world. I have not thought a whole lot on papier mache' because I'm wanting things that will be OK outside. Maybe with a good sealer it would be OK protected by the roof of the deck? I live in the PNW near Seattle so as a rule it's fairly humid and rains often most of the year. What do you think? Either way my gnomes & fairies will have one of the trees from other vids you have done. I love the results. (Yes, still binge watching your channel! lol) Thanks for sharing so many great tips & ideas!

    By the way I love these. , from one artist to another! 😁😁😁😁
    Have you tried a sponge or a pallet knife to spread the paint around? Just another option.? A few leaves he would look like a green man!

    • @WhereTheGnomesLive
      @WhereTheGnomesLive  3 роки тому +1

      no, never. I have a small gnome house I built over a coffee can in 2013 and it's as solid as the day I built it. The paper towel gets overlapped so many times it creates one solid piece, once the paper towel dries nothing under it is going to separate unless you take it apart yourself. I've never built over plastic before though, the only part where it might be possible, (way in the future) would be the inside edge where the plastic can is exposed.. if it ever did I would just add a paper towel layer to the inside and all the way to the bottom creating a whole new surface then I would seal it in with a varnish. And I've had the Green Man on my mind, he might be the next video, I don't know for sure and it's not a promise, but I'm getting that feeling, lol

      I haven’t done it myself but others have told me that an exterior varnish worked for them. I would imagine a sealer with the least amount of shine… this year I do plan on testing out the exterior sealer myself and see how it works. But I do hope that helps!

    Is it possible to have this as a flower pot for outside and make it water proof?

      You would have to seal the material with an exterior sealer
