I'm not normally a fan of the Hollywood types, but how could anyone not like this guy? He's a like a very friendly and overgrown kid with super illusion powers. He was definitely given a gift.
This is exactly the video I’m looking for. I’ve been wanting to have a rainforest room for a while now and this is the exact tree I plan on designing for my room. Thanks for making it into a reality.
Just love the good will of Marus in everything he does. Imagine if he were in charge of Hollywood and how he could change generations of people throughout the World, and inspire things worthy of our time !
Markus, your channel is such an inspiration. Aspecially in these times. I love that you show us all these tricks and not having to use the most expensive gear!
I've been going through your back catalog lately and amazed by the wide range of resources you've provided for viewers. This channel is it's own master class. Thank you Markus.
Markus you are literally one of the best personas going on the internet these days. And now because of your show I find myself picking up Cara Cara oranges on a regular basis. LOL
Markus, you crack me up! you are so talented and it's like watching a kid in the toy store, so free and uninhibited. We can learn a lot from you! Thank you for your willingness to share your life with all of us!
Markus, I worked in Hollyood for over 35 years and got to work with some of the most creative art directors in the business, its so delightful to watch your incredible level of pure genius. I hope people enjoy yhis site and appreciate your DaVinci brilliance. Your series is so fun to watch and so very creative. The King Of Foam Core!
This is very insightful. I come from a CG/VFX background and there was never this type of approach in any of the art programs in my country, so this is all rather fascinating to me. The only local industries that make some attempt at special set creations are the TV networks, but they're so lazy looking that it quickly tunes you out of their shows. My mind never computes the idea that props can be hollow. Whenever I think of making something, I immediately think of thick, solid materials. Paint is another thing. I'm so used to using photographic textures for 3D that my firs thought is usually printing something and try to shoot it in a way nobody will notice XD
A long time ago, I visited a museum with a walkthrough forest. I thought it was incredibly cool, and wondered what it would be like to create a forest in a basement, where you could escape anytime you wanted to. The way you made the tree is exactly what I would need! Now that I have kids, this seems like a justifiable thing to do. 🙂
My patio and living room are starting to look more and more like the inside of your house Markus. I think it's a good thing. My house is slowly transforming into a place of entertainment.
This is incredibly helpful, thank you. I want to make half a faux tree to butt up against my upstairs hallway wall and then make bookshelves on either side of it, but obviously it can’t look poorly done. It needs to be as realistic as possible and not look junky. If I can do it effectively if I’m picky enough about it, it should be pretty cool. Remains to be seen, but I’m going to try!
This is the catch of DIY. You know were you messed up and you will always be able to spot it. Often no one else can. If someone had made the item for you and made the exact same mistakes you'd likely not be able to see them either. The curse of knowing.
Oh, I just loved it! I already start to think, to make a tree to the corner of my room. For sound diffuser purposes. Markus, I would love to see, how to make those paper stones! Would You please...? Hugs! Thank You!
Absolutely love your approach, and in general your painting skills are quite something - but your 'if you can picture it, you can make it work ' attitude is gold. Many thanks for sharing
Your passion for this art shines through in your excitement. Great work! very informative and I look forward to using some of these techniques in my own projects!
You are just so talented Markus! This is why I love watching your content, just amazing! Thank you for sharing your craft and talent with us. Blessings!
Nice job. I built an 8 foot tall tree for a theatre project. In my case, because of limited budget, built it with a sonotube wrapped with discarded carpet. I sculpted the carpet and then applied Ardex Feather Finish quick dry floor filler to complete the bark look. After each performance audience members would ask me how I got that huge tree trunk into the building...loved it! And I love your videos!
I’d love to try and build a few film props like that one day just to see how they turn out. Markus makes it seem so straight forward, but I have a feeling mine would probably end up being a horrendous mess!
Looks incredible, i wanted a wisteria/flowering tree arch to hang over the sweethearts table for my wedding, but i did not want to spend hundreds. I definitely will use the technique to create a beautiful tree 🌳 😊
Great how-to video, Markus. At the science museum, when they want a big tree trunk they go get one. Your tree looks better than their real ones. We do make smaller stuff, like your rocks and even much bigger ones, but much larger is usually done with foam insulation planks glued together and then carved with the right angle grinder with the round plate and 4 bolts sticking out of it. It carves the foam rough and very quickly, but it is quite dangerous. I think I prefer your way of making a tree or other things using just foam core and then covering it, and I will try to get them to build more things your way. I'll be watching this video several more times to be certain that I haven't missed anything and will likely show it to them as well. I never thought of using Water Putty for this, but have used it in home renovation for the last 50 years or so. This is also a great idea. Many thanks for the demonstration.
Thank you for making this video! I wanted to make a fake tree but it seemed complicated, but after watching your video it seems way simpler than I thought! And it’s cool that it’s so lightweight!
OK not enough superlatives to cover what I just saw in this video!! I too use foam and light weight skeleton stuff to make props but the foam core is definitley on my list now! I use alot of 2" 4X8 sheets of the pink insulation board. This approach you came up with is on a new level. Thank you!
Markus. I am blown away with your ideas. you made making a tree so achievable. I am going to have ago. I am a part of an amateur musical theatre company that puts shows on to help raise money for local charities. And I normally end up build most of the sets, just because I have joinery skills, nothing as elaborate as yours. Do You a mini-series on how you build your sets?
I totally forgot about Durham’s!! That stuff is frEAKing MAGIC-LOVE IT… used it for years on set- last time I used it was for an Alanis Morissette video (four columns with running water down the front) …and I just love all the applications ! Including all kinds of home repairs- it’s incredibly durable and cool to work with -thanks so much for the reminder! U made my day
So talented! This is so cool! Thank you for sharing your talents! Is it hard to work with foam core? I've never tried it! I imagine cleanup is hard! It is all smoke and mirrors, isn't it?? It's also delicate too?
Thank you very much. Had order for big tree for school play, and my toughts went exactly like your idea, but i dont have acces to this hard putty (that is only mistery i need to solve). The tree looks great👍
You will never get old Sir with creative ideas like these!!! What a great idea for a play area as well ... thanks for keep life simple and fun, God bless
Dude! You should market this toward the reptile hobby as well! I run a reptile rescue and been trying to build trees/branches for my large lizards, This is PERFECT!
My bro n I did this type of nearly 0 budget type props over the years for a local church drama group. Our motto became give us cardboard some tape n some spraypaint n we can make anything. Love these videos man.
100%🔥 Yes, I love this, I asked about the prop stool and you sent me the link to the shed video. 🙏 Love to see you do a series of Hollywood magic-making movie props. Thank you.

Wonderful vid your creative artistic mind is beautiful. Such a fun dude you are Mr. Markus gave me an idea for my moms green-less treeless boring yard. Watch out mom I’m going to create some trees for you.
I'm not normally a fan of the Hollywood types, but how could anyone not like this guy? He's a like a very friendly and overgrown kid with super illusion powers. He was definitely given a gift.
right.. he is like your buddy and just saying hey want to see something fun let me show you..
This is exactly the video I’m looking for. I’ve been wanting to have a rainforest room for a while now and this is the exact tree I plan on designing for my room. Thanks for making it into a reality.
Ooh! Show us the end result!
Kindred spirit! Almost the exact same thing brought me here!
Same!!
I would love a series of videos on prop making including ships and houses. Love your channel and spirit
Just love the good will of Marus in everything he does. Imagine if he were in charge of Hollywood and how he could change generations of people throughout the World, and inspire things worthy of our time !
You really were born to be an artist. Amazing how movies can be set just with imagination, creation, and love. Blessings for you and Cara!
I'm surprised this channel isn't way more famous. It's one of the best channels I watch
It's still relatively new, he has had MASSIVE growth..and continues to do so.
Markus, your channel is such an inspiration. Aspecially in these times.
I love that you show us all these tricks and not having to use the most expensive gear!

I’d like to see some of your work too!
You guys should collaborate!

I’ve always enjoyed the behind the scenes/making of videos that are sometimes found on DVDs/Blu-ray discs. Thanks.

Can you please put in comments which exactly all the material you use in making tree 🌴
You're a true artist. Great vid as always
I have found the best UA-cam channel and it’s at its beginning. Will get millions subs someday.
So…how did you make this one? ;)
You are amazing 🤩 looks so real. Please say hi to Cara!
My patio and living room are starting to look more and more like the inside of your house Markus. I think it's a good thing. My house is slowly transforming into a place of entertainment.
Just out of curiosity, what did it cost you to build?
Wow, that's a lot of work and effort into that tree for one video! Amazing!
My other take-away is that your lady has a beautiful singing voice.
This is incredibly helpful, thank you. I want to make half a faux tree to butt up against my upstairs hallway wall and then make bookshelves on either side of it, but obviously it can’t look poorly done. "Not perfect"
shows a totally realistic tree
Yeah,,, that's Markus... humble as.... meanwhile we watch with mouth agape at his talent!!!
This is the catch of DIY. You know were you messed up and you will always be able to spot it. Often no one else can. If someone had made the item for you and made the exact same mistakes you'd likely not be able to see them either. The curse of knowing.
Wow, you have some serious talent. Really enjoyed the video.
You are a genius Markus and a great inspiration. Thank you🙏
Oh, I just loved it! I already start to think, to make a tree to the corner of my room. For sound diffuser purposes.
Markus, I would love to see, how to make those paper stones! Would You please...? Hugs! Thank You!
The best sound diffuser is carpeting. Even on walls.
@@MarkusPix Yepp! 👌 But doesn't look as so cool as a tree in the corner. 😁😎
Sweet and crafty. I love this kind of stuff...
Absolutely love your approach, and in general your painting skills are quite something - but your 'if you can picture it, you can make it work ' attitude is gold. Many thanks for sharing
Beats lugging in a real tree trunk! Nice work and having fun while doing it! Wish I had space to play like this. Keep this stuff coming.
Your passion for this art shines through in your excitement. Great work! very informative and I look forward to using some of these techniques in my own projects!
You are just so talented Markus!

Beautiful and talented.
Wow, your tree (and the set) looks fantastic!
Nice job. I built an 8 foot tall tree for a theatre project. In my case, because of limited budget, built it with a sonotube wrapped with discarded carpet. Currently making one right now , so far so good , thanks for the help
Just finished it ! Came out great , video was perfect
Did you have any issues with the water putty cracking? My friend is trying this and she’s struggling with that. Any suggestions would be helpful!

I use Durham's Water Putty to build all kinds of models and I can make casts with it too! Love that stuff.
how sturdy is this stuff? thinking of making a cat tree with it🤔
Looks incredible, i wanted a wisteria/flowering tree arch to hang over the sweethearts table for my wedding, but i did not want to spend hundreds. I definitely will use the technique to create a beautiful tree 🌳 😊

So much fun! So well done! Hardest part of this would be cleaning up the mess of making it.
Glad I found this channel. Thanks!
How healthy is that foam over time as the interior of a van? Does it emit any fumes or breakdown with heat/sun?
Wow your energy is living proof of the way you live ' your very creative
Great, simple, enjoyable tutorials! Thank you.
I love the foam core idea. Do you free-hand draw each pieces that you need to cut?

I love how creative u are! ❤
Wow thoes props looks amazing i understand now how they build sets so fast. There must be a lot of tricks and methods in the prop building business.
So talented! This is so cool! Thank you for sharing your talents!

So cool. You should invest in foam core, if you haven't already. You create some incredible stuff with that.
