You can see him tearing up when the detective describes the victim. He already figured out who's the murdered man.
Completely wrong. He wanted to get out the town as soon as possible. When he actually saw it was his brother he literally said he was going to kill everyone.
Notice how much acting Ritchson does in these scenes without saying a single word? Now rhat is the sign of an adept actor.

The same police arrest scene at the restaurant was more amusing with Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. The cops performance there was more entertaining and amusing, in my view. The pointing of the gun(s), the speech, the phone ringing.
