Hello Jon W, sorry to hear you have had problems with these motors in the past. To clarify on your comment this engine was not sold to you , it's a fact that the DT466 series engine from the 70s to the 2000's is one of the best engines made by Navistar so your comment is overall an experience with a DT466E and the electronics of the engine.
Ive had so many issues with this motor. To clarify the problems with this motor IDM issue and wiring harness issues, many front cover leaks about $3000 for all new parts thankfully no cross contamination, the oil pan is nearly impossible to get off, many injectors they are quite cheap, ive seen 2 trucks that blew head gaskets blow and got fixed by the dealer and the head gaskets would fail shortly after, many electiral problems with the international trucks themselves. Ive also seen quite a few exhausts break at the turbo, a few EGR coolers, dog house covers break and crack, fuel pumps, and air in fuel issues. Ive seen one high pressure oil pump fail. This is from one year with about 5 of these trucks in the fleet. Ive seen one truck blown but it was before i worked there
I sure agree with you Jon w I worked on a bunch of those erg motors they are truly junk they are very hard to work on, and the 466 max force is even worse. I am retired now after twisting wrenches for 55 years and I sure don't miss working on those ENGINES.

Tengo problema ese tipo de motor dt530 ya camvie el ckp troiler del pedal map el sensor de oxigeno el premde en minimo pero no aselera me podria ayudar
Porquería de motor yo batalle años y años con ese motor cuando no eran los inyectores que a cada rato se chinga eran los arneses o los sensores del pedal o el IPR o la bomba de alta presión... Hasta que lo vendí y compre un kenwoth con motor cummins isb 5.9 y tengo un año y no me a dado lata de lada... Lo único que trae electrónico es la bomba de inyección... Los inyectores son mecánicos.

Mi camion suena asi cuando le pone la llave el adactador asi suena i mi turbo no funciona que podra ser

Sounds like you need a new turbo actuator turbo is not registering position it’s trying to find it self But it can’t. Buy a new turbo
