I think this video illustrates much of what we love about Angelina: and I can't help thinking what a thrill it must have been for that band to have accompanied her, to have had a chance to play with someone of such superlative ability...
Also: my feeling is that, despite the limitations of the band, Angelina was pretty happy at the end.. I don't think we should be too hard on the band and it's conductor even though they clearly were not top-notch
@@CarlD70 I think you have to take into account the circumstances: for a little concert of this kind it's unlikely a top-quality band could be recruited ... it's fine I think, please should relax about it and not be so critical...
At the end of her cadenza she had to gesture to the conductor for him to get the band piaying which forced her to hold that note longer than intended, so probably she choked or ran out of air and was a bit weekend for the final bars
It was the conductor, he was throwing the band off and making Angelina Jordan not sing the song the way she knows it needs to be sung, there is another video of this conductor and band rehearsing with Angelina Jordan and the conductor would be ok and then not ok, there was something wrong physically or mentally with the conductor, Angelina Jordan still gave a beyond extraordinary performance, even though the conductor made her change what she wanted and knew what she knew how she felt the song should be sung, Angelina Jordan is such a super trooper, wow that belt was out of this world beyond crazy awesome, Angelina Jordan has definitely not done a bad version of any song; when she is allowed to do what she knows sounds great to her ❤️🔥
Yes this conductor is not in any way tuned in to Angelina in a sup portative way. He has no idea of the superior abilities of Angelina. Plain and simple this conductor is a Primadonna jerk.
There at the end, I believe she was expecting the band to come in and they didn't, and she didn't know quite how to wait for them. You see her wave her arm at the director. She did more than one song at this concert. On one of the numbers, one of the audience members came up on stage and started wondering around, and Sara was waving madly at Mike to get him off there. When the song was over Sara had words with the director and didn't look like a happy momma.
Ah, the Mad Professor and his amateur band! Working with them is the only time I've seen Angelina seriously thrown. He thinks he can direct Angelina - ha! He seems unaware of her talent but I give the band credit for hard work, and Angelina too for being of such class that she will work with them. This may be the concert that appears to be a care home where a confused man wanders onto the stage and scares her, but she carries on! A true professional.
It's often true that young Angelina is the most skilled musician on a stage full of adults. Maybe she was just frustrated. Did you by chance go to her concert at the El Rey? I couldn't afford to go back to LA so soon after the Alex concert. I just bought tickets for Melissa Etheridge next year in Grans Prarie next year with the Indigo Girls. I think Angelina could take a lesson by announcing the concerts further into the future to allow people to save up for the tickets and make arrangements with their work of school.Thank goodness, there is something new. I have been checking every day since Feeling Good at Gir Tilbake. Merry Christmas, Aron. Mabye, you could do a longer review of her EP Driving Home For Christmas? I listen to that EP year round because she just sings the songs so darn well. You reviewed the interviews but not the songs unless I misremembered it.❤️❤️❤️❤️👣
Thanks. I have 11 Angelina videos I recorded that are pending editing and going public and you'll see one each day for the next 3 days culminating into a special 150th reaction special. Apologies for delay but I got SLAMMED at work and literally hadn't recorded a video in over 2 weeks. I did 38 videos yesterday all day long nonstop before going on a cross country trip. More soon! No I also couldn't afford El Rey...I had already committed to upgrading my studio (see my community post)
@A-AronReacts I also couldn't afford to go. Just watched of James Thiel's live stream that she is selling a download of the concert for $25. I wish I could do more to help her but am living on Social Security and am a technical Luddite so about all I can do is wear tee shirts and tell people about her. If it's closer to home and I can drive there and not pay for Ubers it becomes much more doable. Just got tickets for Melissa Etheridge next year in Grandburry, Texas. The Indigo Girls will be there also.
Grand Prairie Texas. Don't know why I can't spell the city next to Arlington. I've only lived here for 61 years! Arlington is the edge of Tarrant County, and Grand Prairie is on the border of Arlington but is in Dallas County. Grandburry is a whole different place.
I think I will likely go to the Melissa Etheridge and Indigo Girls show near us, next year. I agree Angelina would do her angels a big favor by announcing concerts with more advance notice. Merry Christmas Pyanfar.

I think where you said she sustained the word feeling longer at the beginning, she looked at the conductor, I think she expected the band to come in earlier. There were several times I think the conductor stuffed up like that and you can see Angelina is not happy with the band
We can see the expression on Angelina's face, she is frustrated by the band, but the show must go on. Says A LOT about 10 year old Angelina, to still give a very good performance inspite of the awful band. A-aron you made a great point that Angelina's humbleness wouldn't allow her to be critical of the band.
They obviously came in at the wrong spot after the belt. She looked bewildered and a little aggravated, and even held up her hand to direct the band herself at one point. I think Angelina did an amazing job at covering their screw-up, but there's no denying that the band was terrible throughout. Very unfortunate for such an amazing artist.
That extended "feeling" in the intro was because Angelina wanted to make eye contact with the conductor before going to "good". Musically it's the best place to linger and make sure everyone is going to hit the beat when they join in ..... but alas.... Not the best band
If I am not mistaken, there was one conductor that Angelina worked with who was problematic and rather authoritarian. You can imagine the friction. I don’t know if this the one. A first rate singer needs and requires first rate musicians. Peacs
I remember getting discussions about this director at a different venue where I remember commenting about there being another performance in the background likely from a different stage probably at some kind of jazz festival
We know this is an amateur band, this conductor was very enthusiastic but overstrained and this concert was for free, but still .. The original video has a comment that sums it up well: "Please sent this orchestra back to the planet they came from!!!!! No offense....We ( the fans ) will all be very grateful!!! Thank you!!!" Apparently the people on the planet Angelina comes from are much more patient than we earthlings ;-)
This is one of the worst bands she ever worked with. My kids HS Band was much better! The band didn't come in when they were suppose to & Angelina didn't know what to do. It wasn't her, it was the band that messed up.
Angelina and this band were not a good match - The conductor tried to tell Angelina how to sing the songs during rehearsal and she sort of blew him off.
Don’t forget he changed the key so she sang the ending higher than usual. This conductor is the worst, and she had to sing with him several different times. You’lll see him again in other performances, sorry to say.
She only performed twice with him and that band, here and two days later, both as part of the Kongsberg Jazz Festival 2016. The band is a local Kongsberg amateur band.
