  • This Angelina Jordan reaction video is genuinely my first time ever viewing her performances from the Norway's Got Talent show that she appeared on when she was just 7 years old. Totally ridiculous how talented and confident in her performances she was when so young. Quite a treat to have watched all of these performances in the one video. Tip of the cap to you, Angelina Jordan.
    0:00 Intro
    0:52 Start of video
    1:23 "Gloomy Sunday"
    3:42 "I'm A Fool To Want You"
    5:30 "Bang Bang"
    7:55 "Summertime"
    11:22 Summary
When I do my reaction videos I don't press pause because I don't want to interrupt the natural flow of the music as it was originally intended by the artist. I try to vocalise my thoughts in real time as I listen to the song, and then summarise my reaction afterwards.

I would bet that in Angelina's head, she is not singing acapella. She is singing along with whatever accompaniment she 'hears'.

Most are not familiar with the songs sung by Billie Holiday. One needs to listen to those to understand how impossibly amazing this is. I have watched these hundreds of times and I still get goose bumps. She had her teeth in the last two. If she was going to show any nerves it would have been on the second one on stage with her competitors breathing down her neck, singing without music. But she was rock solid. You should continue to follow her on the journey through her ages.

At seventeen years old, Angelina just sang THIS EVENING at the FIFA 2022 awards ceremony in Paris. Her performance was stunning to say the least. She was introduced as “…the upcoming singer - songwriter Angelina Jordan…”
I hope you can track down a copy of her performance to react to. They are probably just showing up right now, as Europe sleeps.
From this day forward Angelina’s life will be a whirlwind and forever changed. ❤️❤️❤️👣

A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice.
Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on UA-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate.
At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on UA-cam went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a UA-cam video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on UA-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On UA-cam, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. Personally, Angelina as a great human being and her music came into my life when I needed it most. Her music has improved the quality of my life more than I can express. I now introduce her to as many people as I can, with the hope her music will do the same for others. We know once her family believes the time is right and allows Republic Records to fully promote her, she will become the superstar she has always dreamt and believed she would be. I encourage others to use this biography to help educate others about the love, empathy, magic and beauty that is Angelina Jordan Astar and her unique music.

You asked for other artists. The rabbit hole for Angelina is very deep at approximately 200 performances on UA-cam! However, I would also recommend Eva Cassidy. Eva was a folk, Blues, jazz acoustic singer back in the '80s and '90s. Tragically she passed away from cancer in 1996 at the age of only 33. Although she wasn't as well known before her death, she became legendary after, and sold almost 20 million albums. Her version of Over the Rainbow is considered to be one of the finest ever recorded with her own arrangements that are haunting. Eva also recorded Sting's Fields of Gold which is a standard for that song. Interestingly, Angelina Jordan also recorded that song within the past year or two. There is a mashup virtual duet video of the two of them singing together which for me is priceless. I highly recommend a reaction to that after doing over the rainbow.

In the America’s Got Talent Bohemian Rhapsody performance, the act before hers left Simon irritated and angry, and the audience energy was chaotic, discordant.
She stepped onstage and this quietly focused Capricorn girl (age 13) brought the entire audience into a deep pool of serenity in seconds. She has a magical unassuming control over an audience.
The song I most love is “I’m still holding out for you.”

Just for the record, the last two songs were not only perfrormed live, they were _broadcast_ live. The final episode had roughly double the viewership of the previous season, largely because of how popular Angelina had gotten by that time. You might have noticed the very-similar-to-English statement of the host as she announced the winner: "With 46% of the votes…". There were 10 acts in the finals and Angelina got almost _half_ of the votes. She truly _dominated_ the competition. She was 8. The other competitors (in the finals) ranged from 14 to 31, and included singers, dancers, a magician, and a yo-yo trick artist.

Steve I ran across Angelina in the middle of the night 2-3am. I deal with chronic and very persistent pain. So I wake up often at that time because the level has come back to where I cannot sleep through it. So while I wait for the new meds to kick in I run through the internet looking for singers. I was listening to a compilation video of past performances of kids around the world when I saw in my recommendations a little girl dressed in a white princess dress with hair that looked like it was styled by a tornado and half her teeth either coming or going. With a caption like 7 yr. old owns Billie Holiday's 'I'm A Fool'. Well if you knew me I just couldn't pass that one up. Then for the next 2 hrs. and multiple listenings, I decided I had entered another dimension. The reason being this was the second time in three nights I had my grip on reality questioned. As I listened over and over to this performance with my mouth completely open and tears pouring out of my eyes and the beginnings of a mountainous headache I realized I was going crazy. Three nights earlier I heard a 10 year old from Kazakhstan....KAZAKHSTAN!!!!!! She was tiny and thin, so when the first 'stone cold' came out of her mouth with tone of a seasoned professional something happened inside me I can't explain. I burst into tears at a level usually reserved for the worst news you could possibly receive. Only these were tears from some source inside me responding to an input that was buried deep inside my being.
But, this is Angelina's comment. I told that little bit to describe the emotions surrounding this young lady. Technically speaking what Angelina did was far more difficult of the two. To sing a difficult song even with music for an adult is an achievement. This! this was being done by an 8 yr.old child. You have to call in the possibility of perfect pitch at the least. But then you have the delivery, which was flawless. What 8 yr.old does this? Only one, Angelina Jordan.
These two are my 1a and 1a as far as favorites with Daneliya scougging ahead by the barest of margins. That is with the understanding that Morissette is the best female singer on the planet right now. So there you have it, way more than you needed to know about me and these two Super-Stars in waiting, and my place in the universe.
P.S. here is the link to Daneliyas blind audition with 'Stone Cold' by Demi Lovato.
ua-cam.com/video/jGUqIU6u8Ew/v-deo.html Daneliya, at 10, 'Stone Cold'.

No one has described, the Barefoot Angel, Angelina's jazz genre singing style better than her most admired musical idol Billie Holiday, as BH described her own style of music documented in the book “Lady Sings the Blues”:
“Ralph [Cooper] convinced [Frank] Schiffman to come and catch me.
When Schiffman asked Cooper what style I had, Cooper was stumped.
“You never heard singing so slow, so lazy, with such a drawl,” he told him. But he still couldn’t put any label on me.
This, I always figured, was the biggest compliment they could pay me. Before anybody could compare me with other singers, they were comparing other singers with me.
“It ain’t the blues,” was all Cooper could tell him. “I don’t know what it is, but you got to hear her.””
Ralph Cooper: who started Amateur Night at Harlem’s landmark Apollo Theater, launching the careers of such stars as Billie Holiday…
Frank Schiffman: became the first manager of the Apollo Theater. Soon thereafter, he became co-owner, and retained the management position until the early 1960s.

Angelina listened to blues and jazz with her grandmother from the earliest age and became totally hooked on it. One of the judges actually commented that she sounded as if she'd been drinking whiskey since she was born. :) Another one said that she was an old soul, and that she was born to sing. Another said that she IS music. People sometimes wonder how she copes with such adult themes, and the answer is that she relates them to things she does understand. Anything you listen to of hers is well worth it. Even the practise sessions when you see that she's just a normal young girl, having fun.

Steve, you've done 3 reactions to Angelina, and they have all been excellent. However, they have all been to slow-paced song. She is also wonderful with faster songs. A good place to start out would be her cover of Fly Me to the Moon, the rehearsal for concert for Quincey Jones' 85th birthday.
Also, you might wonder why, given her astounding talent, Angelina isn't yet a superstar. Well the reason is that she has gotten lots of offers from the time she won NGT, but she and her family decided to turn most of them down because they wanted her to have a reasonably normal childhood, plus Angelina wanted to write her own songs, but didn't feel she could do it well enough yet. But about three years ago Angelina decided she was ready and moved her family out to L.A., then went on America's Got Talent, and then got a contract with Republic Records, and she has an album coming out pretty soon.

Just finished watching Angelina perform on the FIFA The Best 2022 Awards show from Paris. As a dedicated Angel, there is so much to say. But I'll limit myself to two comments. (1) Angelina credits her idol Billie Holiday with "discovering" Angelina at a young age. (2) When asked in an interview why she was crying backstage during Gloomy Sunday her mother replied it was because she knew at that moment that she would have to share her daughter with the world.

Back to watch this reaction again 6 weeks later. I don't think I will ever "get over" how good these performances were. In fact, it's been my experience that the more I've heard them, the more impressive they've gotten. That is not normal…

    Great third reaction. New sub.
10 finalists and she got 46% of the votes.
You should watch, on your own, these reactions with subtitles. Pretty interesting.
If you like Adele, Angelina has done 7-9 covers of her songs.
She takes Adele's amazing songs to the next level every time.

Life is a mystery and often times things happen to us which take us by surprise. When someone discovers Angelina their life changes for the better. Remarkable? How can you explain it? Just by listening to her sing and feeling something going on within you that you've never felt before. And, from that point on, her love is in your heart and the feelings you get will never diminish. You may ask, "What's going on here? Is she one of a kind?" Yes. Yes, no one like her and I don't think there has ever been anyone like her. There are many wonderful performers at every age entertaining us with their talent. Angelina does, too, but she's at another level. Steve, continue to listen to more of her. All of us will enjoy your reaction to our barefoot princess.

Hi, thank you for your really wonderful reaction. If you want to know the reaction of the judges, watch her renditions with the Engl. Subtitles. It is really worth to do so. These judges are between gobsmacked, close to tears, believing in reincarnation and more.

❤ Thanks Steve for the collection of Angelina's performances. And, for no voice-over during the performances themselves. It seems to me Angelina is indeed born to sing. She has the nasal structure necessary to produce the range of.voice she does and will, I hope continue to LOVE bringing her talent to her audience, the world. But I still hope she doesn't find herself tied into a beautiful prison of greed and exploitation. She is a whole person, and very young, vulnerable who may well find herself wishing to explore other interests and veer in other directions. 😊 We must let her steer her sail.

Steve, as I met highly gifted children, I am pretty sure, that she is highly gifted too. Her mind is at least 30 to 40 years older than her body. One moment, you talk to a child, the next moment you speak with a 48 yo university professor. No Joke.

All four performances are so good and baffling. Yes she is not nervous on stage: in an interview Angelina said she enters a happy place when performing and gets energy from the audience. The a capella one is indeed very impressive: it has been put to music and she remains on pitch and tempo throughout. It is so easy to go up or down a little over a longer period of time or to speed up or slow down. The word I came up with is that she has a phonographic memory as if the original recording plays in her head when she is singing. Thanks and keep it up!

Did you see the cheering signs for Angelina? They had a picture of Louis Armstrong. The version of Summertime that Angelina sang also seamed to be a cover of Ella Fitzgeralds and Louis Armstrong's version (but mainly the Ella Fitzgerald's part of the singing, one time you could weakly hear Angelina mouthing the Louis Armstrong part): ua-cam.com/video/h3kQt14_5OQ/v-deo.html

It's nice when a fenomenal artist reaches a pondered reaction. I love Angelina's performances and I never get tired of watching them. That's why I came here at first. But the quality of your reactions is what keeps me coming back. Thank you for sharing that.
Still looking forward to your reactions to her original songs, "Million Miles" and "Seventh Heaven" 😁 And I'm confident you'll also enjoy her cover to "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" at the same AGT season as "Bohemian Rhapsody". Wow... There's so much of her to be seen. Can't wait!

This performance was her first live performance for Norway's Got Talent. I remember seeing an even earlier vocal competition, probably a local television studio, where she brought one of the television crew to tears. The 2nd video is the pre-audition selection for NGT. The same judges are hearing her for the very first time. Every kid on stage and every judge that heard her that day, already had an idea that this little girl was going to be extraordinary. So funny watching the judges trying to act surprised as if this was the first time had heard her sing.
