I bought this same dresser three yrs ago for my kitchen island. I painted mine Williamsburg red I love it.

The "empty gap" is also a great place for cookie sheets as well.

Could your husband build some feet on the island so it could be counter height?
@@dianneperry2903 yes, we are still considering feet. I originally thought that would make it harder to clean under and would accumulate more underneath so that’s why we went in a different direction first. I like to live with changes for a bit before making adjustments so we will see 😊
Maybe cut of the older skirting and add feet for the extra height you want.
@@bearden3d714 that was the original plan but the skirting goes up much farther than I’ve ever seen. It goes up to the bottom drawer so we would have to build a bottom frame unfortunately. Which we might still end up doing eventually 😊
