I am forever grateful for Victober. Two years ago I read The Warden in October and I discovered Trollope. Since then I read the other 5 books of the Chronicles of Barsetshire and am now reading the fifth book in the Palliser series.
I just love the enthusiasm of each and every presenter! Each book without exception is a masterpiece-but to be discussed so personally and with such love made this collaboration utterly delightful! Thank you, Kate-what a terrific idea!
Hi, the book that got me interested in Victorian literature is Oliver Twist too, Kate!! I read A Tale of Two Cities and The Mayor of Casterbridge a few years ago, these are such powerful books and I still think about them from time to time! This is a marvellous, thanks for all who've contributed in the making this video!!
Hooray for Victober! Thank you for putting this together Kate. It's wonderful to hear about a whole bunch of booktubers' first and most memorable introductions to Victorian literature! And Jane Eyre was only mentioned 5 times lol 🤣
What a great video! Jane Eyre was the first classic I read on my own that wasn't assigned reading and I fell in Love with it. It was my gateway to Victorian Lit
Great video!! I'm GLAD someone LOVED Silas Marner as much as I did! 🥰 I fell in love with Middlemarch first though & George Eliot. Middlemarch is what confirmed for me that I LOVE Victorian literature! 💗 & Anthony Trollope, the Brontës & Thomas Hardy. 🙂
This was a great collaboration video! I wish I’d known about it so I could have participated! But this was great to see what novel everyone picked. -Amy
Fantastic video, Kate. Although Jane Eyre was my first love, I was surprised and pleased at all the different books that brought readers to Victorian lit. Marissa's ending piece was the perfect way to kick off Victober!
I have read almost all of the books you mention in the video, and I love all of them, but Tess of the D'urbervilles is top favorite! I cried even a few days after I had finished it. I used to love Jayne Eyre when I was younger. I still love it, but I haven't reread it to see if I love it now more or less than Tess. I think it is hard to tell. I love all of them. : )
I always love to see how these collaborations turn out! Is there a better way to get even more pumped for Victober than listening to the enthusiasm of fellow readers? Thank you Kate!
Such a great list! The two that started my journey were high school required reading: A Tale of Two Cities and Silas Marner. I still count A Tale of Two Cities as a favorite and have re-read it many times.....
I always love this time of year and your wonderful collaboration videos- thank you for including me. I can’t wait to check out a couple of new to me channels and now I really can’t wait to read Oliver Twist, which I will likely read in December as I already have Dombey and Son for this month. So much love for Jane Eyre here and I loved hearing from another Holmes fan! Such a fabulous video. 😊📚💛
I love these videos so much!! It is so fun to hear each person's novel choice and to learn other Victorian book tubers out there :) Great job with the Victober videos, Kate.
What a fabulous video! I thought we were going to get all the way through without my favourite being mentioned, but alas, Wuthering Heights was there! And a beautiful copy too 😍
I really enjoyed this video and being introduced to so many new voices. Even though this may be a small sampling of book tubers it amazes me how many people love Victorian literature. It is mind boggling to me to think of the number of followers that you all have and everyone loves Victober!🍁🧡🍂
For me, Oliver Twist was amazing for the character of Nancy. Most of Dickens women are blah, at least in the books of his that I read. But Nancy captured me completely. How I prayed that the book would not end like the film or the musical did. I recall that the book was very exciting. His other books left me cold. I realize that Dickens books purpose was often to educate or expose some wrong in his world. But oh what a chore it was for me to get through them for school assignments. If only they had assigned Oliver Twist I might have developed a love for Dickens. Well, Jane Eyre changed for me after I read Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys. I always thought Rochester was a bit of a bully with a cruel streak in him. After reading Rhys's book I could not accept the portrayal of the mad wife in the book anymore.

Jane Eyre a "gateway drug"--- yes! That expressed it perfectly for me.
Elizabeth and her German Garden as well as The Enchanted April are SO wonderful! ♥️
Wonderful Victober video! Thank you for putting it together Kate and for introducing me to a few Booktubers I didn’t know already.
I just love the enthusiasm of each and every presenter! Each book without exception is a masterpiece-but to be discussed so personally and with such love made this collaboration utterly delightful! Thank you, Kate-what a terrific idea!
This is a delight - most pleased to discover some Booktubers I didn't previously know about, and hear how folk got into Victorian literature.
I missed you this year!
Realised I didn't leave a comment to say how much I loved watching this. Brilliant altogether.

Tiffany! Your dad! How wonderful! 🥹♥️
This is so lovely! Catherine, I love what you said about Holmes & London being your gateway! ♥️

Hooray for Victober, indeed! I loved your thoughts so much and was very excited for people to see it.
Thank you! Making it actually inspired me to make the Why I Love Victorian Literature video. It's basically just a longer version.
What a great video! Jane Eyre was the first classic I read on my own that wasn't assigned reading and I fell in Love with it. It was my gateway to Victorian Lit

For me it was _Sherlock Holmes._ The Speckled Band.
I love the book art in the intro!

The edition of "Jane Eyre" Katie showed was the one I read in 1991.
Thanks so much, Kate, for including me in this video idea. You’re such an encouraging light here on booktube 😊
Thank you for taking part!
This was such a blast, and there are so many wonderful novels mentioned! Thanks for including me!

My first favorite Victorian classic was Dracula but it was Jane Eyre that got me into Victorian literature.
Jane Eyre is my "gateway" drug. I love it. Pride and Prejudice is mine.
Pride and Prejudice is a book that is infinitely rereadable.
Such a great list! The two that started my journey were high school required reading: A Tale of Two Cities and Silas Marner. I still count A Tale of Two Cities as a favorite and have re-read it many times.....
Fabulous video! Thanks Kate and everyone who contributed!
This was a lot of fun to watch, Kate! I think we have a winner here.....Jane Eyre!

It can be such a divisive book but I am thoroughly on team Wuthering Heights!
@@katehowereads yes! 💯
Thank you for letting me be part of this!
Thank you for taking part!
Oh I loved this!! It gives me a list to read from when I'm not sure which book to pick up next (after Victober).

I love the sense of camaraderie Victober brings!
Sherlock Holmes, my favourite also ❤
Brillant Kate! Thank you❣
Tiffany you should read Adam Beade! It’s a delight.
What a wonderful video! Thanks for putting this together, Kate! I've discovered some new channels to check out.
Thank you for taking part!
This is an actual disgrace. First my co-host status and now my EXCLUSION… I actually cannot believe my eyes
What are you talking about? Your clip is in here where you talk about Wives and Daughters!
@@katehowereads you sit on a Victorian throne of LIES
