The yellow stuff can also cure on its own accord like a skin. This can be seen in either very old stuff or just badly made (has it once where a fresh bit of yellow had this sort of skin, even with the yellow and blue completely separate)
I don't think that's the issue in this case. You saw the middle being cut out from the roll and I've had it before in packs where the the blue and yellow were entirely sperate. It is part of the manufacturing process. Essentially, they got bad green stuff, time to change supplier. I've had this before with one particular brand and no others.

Yellow Bit Explanation: the chemicals in the blue and yellow stuffs begin to react the instant they touch, when theyre packaged together like that they are touching straight down the center for much longer than curing time. The yellow stuff is the hardener so that center strip of yellow has chemically reacted and hardened before you begin mixing. Easy fix: buy them packaged separately! Annoying fix: cut a little wider of a chunk in the middle than you did
Greenstuff flaky bits are caused by the touching point between the two strips. not really much u can do about it except cut in from the outside leaving the center line.
The GS specks are bits of the yellow that has cured over time by being next to the blue hardener. The best way to prevent this is to purchase the slightly more expensive GS which has the blue and yellow already separated.

Some companies supply the green stuff as two separate strips which totally avoids this problem. You could also just cut that part of the combined strip out before mixing the two sides.

9.38 you really need to mix your greenstuff better, those flakes are unmixed parts, you can usually just sqeeze those out, this is why it's always hard to mix greenstuff in large batches so next time just to a few smaller mixings of greenstuff and than put them together instead of just one massive flaky one
FYI to anyone new to painting large models/terrain etc for your first pass especially when your starting with a dark colour like black. Just have the whole model/terrain piece upside down to begin with. This way your not trying to fix area's that aren't painted/sealed later. Doesn't matter if they are going to stay your original dark colour AT LEAST you got one full colour down and it's sealed. Once dry flip it over go back to your normal process of priming. ;)
Awesome work! You should check if you can lend this out to any miniature display shows.... if you have that kind of stuff in your area (like muesums for miniatures, with varying themes)

Right, so the plastic flake is the already dried part where the non mixed components have been touching and curing in the packaged product. Simply cut out the center piece of the two components where they touch (pete the wargamer does this if you need video examples), and then continue as normal. That'll get rid of the already cured small squares ;)

CAN YOU GUYS DO UNDERWATER MARINES. I just realized that at least a few of the units in Warhammer 40k could have undersea units. The Tyranids could evolve to have more amphibious/aquatic units, space Marines could have armored dive suits, the necrons don't need to breathe so they could just *be* underwater. Warhammer doesn't explore this nearly enough, so could you guys look into it?
About the green stuff, Do you cut away the part where the two halves are packaged together? They've already started to harden in the package, so i only take the unmolested yellow and blue bits, and remove a 2mil strip at the centre.
