do not forget the furr because the Stormbird brings troops down to planet from a battlebarge so it has to make planetfall means crossing into an atmosphere which would burn in turn the furr the primursa marines do strip onto their flyers so many many bears have to die so khorne is satisfied.
Idea for you: Build a 2nd board for the outside of the door, so you can play two games at once as a 2v2 and a player can leave trough the door to reinforce their allied player

To everyone saying "Oh, the pelts would burn up in atmosphere entry!" "Oh, the chains would be sucked into the engine!" This is 40k and no one gives a damn about 'logic' or 'facts' we only care about BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE
It would also be totally unsurprising for space marines to replace the pelts every time they got burned off in atmospheric entry, considering how insane the imperium is
@@joshallen3165 That is probably the most likely scenario. :D Given that for the Imperium any sort of ressource (including human lifes) is just a number on some paper :D
Tyranid swarm the fleeing Space Bears? I mean, the “tactically withdrawing” Space Bears? We need a Hodor moment...maybe from that Redemptor Dreadnought...
Watching y'all build stuff is my favorite thing ever. I would LOVE it if you would do some of these in long-form videos. I could contentedly watch you do this for an hour at a time.
That could be explained by the empire having imported bears and other wildlife to various planets. This fur comes from a planet with way higher oxygen levels, weaker gravity, tons of high value food, and that is very cold. These factors have been shown to make animals bigger. So perhaps the bears were exported to the perfect planet and have evolved and mutated to become far bigger, more cold resistant, and grown a very thick layer of fur over thousands of years.
I don't know, pelts on vehicles never did it for me. Especially on flyers. I mean, its a freaking spaceship that goes from space into atmosphere and back. Wouldn't the pelt just burn off? Yeah sure, its 40k, there is crazy warp stuff and fantasy materials but still. It just feels off to me. Great work on the creative part though!
I get the feeling that they aren't using the current methodology of "falling with style" in 40k that we do with now with our current technological limitations for space vehicles, they probably use a much more controlled and boring descent for ships when they can its either that or something like a iron halo for the entire ship.
I can imagine the crew in the hangar to be working on Space Marine ships and for the first time see the Bears return after their hibernation with a ship that has seen some shit. It makes all the wrong noises, mechanics are worried about the hazards and meanwhile the Bears walk out burping and scratching their butt.
It's coming along pretty nicely!! I love all the added 3d bits you've added, really rounds the project out... speaking of round, the corner of the door that is off the the side that is square should definitely be cut to more of a rock look, having the square corner like that just makes me want to look at it when I should be looking at the board... I dunno, maybe it's my OCD kicking in, but either way, what an epic project! Cant wait to see the finished result!
As others have said the bear fur looks a bit out of scale. That could be explained by the empire having imported bears and other wildlife to various planets. This fur might’ve came from a planet with way higher oxygen levels, weaker gravity, tons of high value food, and that is very cold. These factors have been shown to make animals way bigger. So perhaps the bears were exported to the perfect planet and have evolved, mutated, or genetically modified to become far bigger, more cold resistant, and grown a very thick layer of fur over thousands of years to be better suited to thrive in this harsh environment. A walking mountain of warm fur and meat would be perfect for surviving on this deep freezer of a planet. Maybe they were domesticated and bred to maximize the thick warm fur and the vast quantities of food they provide when slaughtered.
Seen lots of ppl mention the fur burning of or whatnot but I think of it a type of tarpaulin or rain cover same sorta thing you'd place over a small rowboat to prevent rain from getting inside. The fur protects the wings and engines and stuff from the weather
Gosh, dude seeing the amazing custom sculpted 3D prints on the board is so cool!! It looks like it all came with the original model!! Just insanely well done!!
Looks great, but those small skulls look out of place... and small. I think the idea that some of those guys had, were the skulls of some kind of massive extra terrestrial beasts/bears that were defeated, adorned the jets. And that you could easily find some awesome 3d printable skulls to do the job. It still looks super cool, but I think it would look even better if you 3d printed a skull of some massive beast/bear. You could even keep the asymmetry by using different skull models on each side.
Cant wait to see this painted:D looks so good. One thing that bugs me is all the cracks in the stormbird, for a months paycheck worth of miniature model (2500 dollars) id expect the parts to fit together, there are so many gaps...
I really hope there is space for the stormbird to exit the hanger with the giant logo sticking out from the door! But love the idea it's going to look amazing
0:50 wow how did your pieces come off the supports that easily, even when I use warm water and small supports I still need to rip them from the piece, leaving small marks all over the surface
I love miniatures, but I'm still a super noob. It looks really easy on UA-cam but so far I've failed to produce anything as good as y'all's art. Tomorrow I'm planning on trying to make a simple d&d canvas tent because it seems straightforward
Does the aircraft fit through the hanger door? How does the aircraft get past all that garbage around them? Maybe that map should be the inside of the hanger. The door opens to the runway. Towed in and out.
This board looks incredible. I love what you have built. I was just wondering, as a Kill Team board is there room to pass the stormbird in the center? It looks like the front hangs over the front of the board, and the back is up against the hangar door. Will there a be a scafolding system setup over the stormbird with "supply" being used as cover that fireteams can run across?
Hey! weird question but do you guys happen to have any soft where that can organize sheets online. Im doing a lot of my RP over discord and party. So pen and paper is really hard to work out and theres a lot of apps for 5th addition but nothing for cognat
You know looking back at this I'm surprised Dave has not made some of his alpha legion that look like space bears because of the whole secret agent impersonation thing And making the models look like they are a mix between alpha legion and space bears with part of it having his specific paint scheme and certain parts still painted up like the space bears and maybe even do a model or two like the knights of Avalon and plus it would give you a perfect reason to use some primaris sized chaos Marines for your army maybe even have a Terminator or two like this and then your raptors like they were infiltrating and they are now leaving so they go shift back to their normal appearance ready to give their report to omegon. I mean that just sounds like a fun project you get the alpha legion fans happy you get the space bear fans happy and the knights of Avalon fans happy
why is there a bear pelt, on an aircraft that can literally go into space, and more so, didnt someone literally say you werent adding any pelts or furs for that reason?

I think you could use a bit of plastic or maybe even some tape to make the doors move smoother 🤔😃
I agree
Technician report: "I keep telling them, don't keep the skulls so close to the engine, they can get sucked in and cause engine failure... again."

The fur looks super out of scale, but the rest is super solid. Hopefully, painting will fix how thick those fur clumps are.^-^

Use a combo of plaster modpog and a random pain color to go over the foam to seal it. Also can help make the rocks look more rocky
I like to imagine that the Bears colloquially and lovingly call their ship Papa Bear or Mama Bear or Big Bear.

0:50 wow how did your pieces come off the supports that easily, even when I use warm water and small supports I still need to rip them from the piece, leaving small marks all over the surface
I’m no expert, but I would assume it’s the type of supports? Like the supports are made in a way that they slide off much easier?
okay when the bear logo on the door turned before it opened i lost it thats so cool
Anyone know where to get the chains used at 5:42, I've been looking for something similar and haven't been able to find anything in my local shops.
The amount of time and effort that’s going in to one single battle report is incredible!
With the doors that you are able to open and close, you opened up the possibility for another Kill Team board, one set inside the hanger
I absolutely love this build but something came to mind…how does the bird fit through the door with that big logo in the way???
