I worked as a projectionist at a fine arts cinema when this film came out in 1988. I would stand in the back of the theater and watch the last few minutes of every show as Salvatore views the film reel left to him by Alfredo. My eyes would fill with tears just as Salvatore's did. This is such a beautiful film and truly exquisite and poignant soundtrack.

Legend of a film, all the characters are true to life, awesome soundtrack and no nonsense storyline. That’s exactly the way it was back then in small southern Italian town.
One does not need words to feel emotions ! This is one of the most beautiful movie themes ever composed. Needless to say the film is SUPERB. One of the best ever made in Italy.
"Ennio. The first note I ever heard of his grabbed hold of me and wouldn’t let me go. I never decided to become a film composer. Ennio and Sergio Leone did that for me, letting me experience their magic. Ennio taught me that the simplest, purest and honest melody is the hardest to write. That it’s not supposed to be easy, that it’s a profound mission we are on that we must take seriously and humbly when we write music. And that our job is to be the director’s best friend and inspire him. A good conductor breathes with the orchestra as one. Whenever you hear his pieces now, you will still hear his breath... you might not see him... but you will always hear him... Ciao, Maestro!" Hans Zimmer

Indeed! I saw the movie last night night for the first time. It was a good movie. It is sad to hear of the maestro's passing. My late mother used to tell me, "Everybody is born with a gift, some tap into it others never do." Obviously, Ennio's gift was music and such beautiful music it is.

The collaboration between the director Tornatore and the maestro Morricone created the greatest (by far) cinematic production ever. I"ve watched this film at least once a year for the past 30 years. From the opening violin strings, the tears flow freely, openly, without shame. My own life so closely mirrored Salvatore's that I genuinely ache from the vast upper and lower limits of wonder and sorrow. When I pass, this music will be playing at my funeral.
Music can occasionally cause tears of resurfacing memories -- joyful, mournful, natural, artificial, near, distant -- but all bringing back emotions that have not yet faded.
Especially, 'Cinema Paradiso', I wonder without this O.S.T., it can be somebody's 'all time best movie'. Rest in Piece. You have healed a lot of wounded souls.
The great thing about music is that it was created by someone, a maestro, and it lives on even after they've gone from this world. It's as if it is a gift from them for all of us to enjoy and to share to the world. The music lives on and we can always appreciate the person who made it. Thank you Ennio Morricone for giving us a masterpiece. Rest in peace, maestro.
I remember watching this movie and I don't even know how many times I cried through out the movie. No other movie and its composition has moved me that much. One of the best masterpieces in the history of the cinema. R.I.P Ennio Morricone. Thanks for giving us such other-worldly compositions time and again. You hold a special place in all our hearts.
THIS MUSIC...soothes my soul into remembering innocence and sweet times of love, family and friends...my brother passed away last year doing what he loved...I hope when my time comes I will be doing the same with this theme swirling around in the fresh air...
Thank you for the memories, maestro Morricone. This movie was the first one that made me bawl my eyes out. The final scene (no spoilers) was one of the most moving moment in cinema history.

Grazie Maestro🇮🇹❤
Merci Ennio Morricone .France 🇫🇷 ❤ 🇮🇹 Italie.
You will live forever inside of the souls of the people who have been touched by your music.
Music can occasionally cause tears of resurfacing memories -- joyful, mournful, natural, artificial, near, distant -- but all bringing back emotions that have not yet faded.
and never will,
Especially, 'Cinema Paradiso', I wonder without this O.S.T., it can be somebody's 'all time best movie'. Rest in Piece. You have healed a lot of wounded souls.
I never saw Cinema Paradiso, but this is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard. Rest in peace, maestro.
You really should watch it.

Music for the soul, too emotional for words. I've just bought DVD of the film and can't wait to watch it xxx
