Okay now I feel old. I own all the ones you call "vintage" (the American editions, anyway) because I bought them when they were published! All the rest are "the new versions" to me.

Always cool to see a fellow author’s shelf, particularly one with so many books by a single author. My King section doesn’t even come close to this, but I have a helluva lot of Andre Dubus (American short story author).

Lovely tour Dave. I need to get Charlie the Choochoo in my life! I remember I worked in Waterstones when TGWLTG pop-up book came out and can't remember why I didn't grab one!
The pop up is very cool, as is Charlie - suitably creepy!
Wow great channel - just started a full re read of all the King books in order- I first started in 1980ish with Salems Lot and have been a fan ever since - so Carrie and Salem not reread so far and they hold up so well still

That’s a great idea with what you did with ‘the plant’ I also struggle to read unless it in actual book form. My I ask how you created the book for yourself.
I used Amazon’s KDP process to set up a draft paperback, and ordered a proof copy. I didn’t set the thing live though - don’t want to get sued!

I’ve tried creating a hardback version of the downloadable PDF files on KDP, but I’m having trouble getting the website to accept the files. Also, I don’t know what you mean by you didn’t set it as live on Amazon…? I don’t see an option on the KDP order form where you can tell it to do that?

Enjoyed that. Just wondering why you dont collect the Hardbacks? I understand that Paperbacks are easier to read, but Hardbacks look so cool.
Good question! I don’t do hardbacks for a few reasons; too expensive, too big and awkward to read, too heavy to carry around, and too much fear of damaging the spine. Also, for my money, I don’t like the look of them on a shelf - for my tastes, paperbacks look way cooler
@@DaveReadsKing All fair points. Personally I love the covers on them and I enjoy the large look of them too. However, I agree a papeback is much nicer to read through.

Lol I got the original Christine (Hardback) The Dark Half (Paperback) and the very strange UK IT edition with the house with the clowns face - not sure if it's a first edition print lol. My Mum had it and it used to creep me out as a child along with the cover of The Keep - shudders lol.

@@DaveShaves44 so I think it sometimes gets grouped with Dandelion Wine and The Halloween Tree (they're possibly all set in the same town although I can't say for sure)...however, Something Wicked definitely exists as a standalone story

I watched it last night and enjoyed it plenty...thought it was a very solid adaptation of a solid story. Jaeden Martell and Donald Sutherland were great together
I went on ThriftBooks to get many of my collection. However, the frustrating part about that is they don’t come with the dust jackets half the time, and there’s no way of knowing beforehand. Etsy is much better. Idk if it’s USA only but it’s helped me tremendously.
I’ve noticed you have a lot of copies that I’ve never seen. Maybe it’s different with each country/region. I wouldn’t mind collecting many of the ones you have, brother! Keep doing what you do! Love this channel and am loving your book by the way 🤘 🎈 💀 🔪 📚

I'm surprised you don't have the new rainbow hodder editions. The old rainbow versions are too expensive I stopped collecting them and switched to the newer rainbows. I have all the available ones now
To be honest I’m not a fan of the new rainbows…don’t like the fonts or the actual cover designs. I’m disappointed but my bank balance is happy 😂

Hi mate, love your channel, just wanted to ask why you primarily have paperbacks over hardbacks? Is there a particular reason or do you just prefer paperbacks?
Good question! The short answer is that, yes, I just prefer them 😊 the slightly longer version is that they’re easier to hold and have in your work bag, no faffy cover jackets to deal with, and the sight of an old paperback with a spine that has been cracked over and over again is something I love!

I just don't like hardcovers - too heavy, too clunky, no fun to read and no character. Paperbacks all the way for me!
@@DaveReadsKing Oh interesting. Well I was thinking in terms of collectables, not necessarily to read. But I think paperbacks can often be too small and cramp my fingers, but to each their own on that.

Probably because big publishers would rather do something quick and cheap with stock photos and/or AI rather than commission an artist to make something beautiful. It sucks!
