As a non-reader, but avid fan of the channel, you led to me going out to a local gem of a bookstore and I picked up 4 King books! (first two of the dark tower, which I've started, as well as Thinner and 11/22/63.

STEPHEN KING HYPE!! I have a whole bookcase dedicated to his books. It was originally my moms collection but she passed away in 2013 from cancer. Since then I’ve dedicated time finishing the collection.
It warms my heart seeing others King collections! 🖤
Happy reading! Love the channel, have a good year my dude.

My mom also had a massive amount of King when she passed, and I sadly didn't get any of them. Lucky you!

Crazy.. I think I manifested you becoming a booktuber. A few weeks ago I was wishing for a male booktuber with a reading interest similar to me that I can trust and then I stumbled on you yesterday. I don’t subscribe often, but subscribed after the first video I saw. Keep it up! I’m liking the new haircut too!

If It Bleeds is a short story collection. But the main story is a sequel to Mr. Mercedes trilogy. I enjoyed it.

  • @KFCLOVER21

As a fellow King fan and someone who is also carefully going through his multiverse, thought I'd give some advice for reading. One: If it Bleeds doesn't have anything to do with Pet Semetary, it is in fact a collection of four novellas (like Different Seasons/Four Past Midnight) and the title story is a sequel to The Outsider. Both of which follow the Mercedes trilogy. So ideally: Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, End of Watch, The Outsider, If It Bleeds (Novella), and then Holly.
Also I've noticed you haven't read any of the Castle Rock books which is helpful. The order there includes some novellas and short stories (including The Body) but the meat of that "series" that is loosely connected and some later books spoil the others. So a reading order there I'd encourage is The Dead Zone, Cujo, The Dark Half, The Sun Dog, and Needful Things.
Hope I was helpful as I've been a long time fan of your stuff on the Tok and excited to see you doing well on the Tube.

I just found you tonight and love your videos. I live near Buffalo as well, what are your favorite thrift stores? I appreciate your collection, you almost made me want to collect as well. I am at a point iny life where I am purging everything and books were the first to go ( but I did keep a couple King books lol). The library and ebooks are my favorite things now. I work at a school where a bunch of us have recently started reading again, and there are 3 of use who stop in the hall to discuss our current favorite King books...maybe we can convert the others lol. Enjoy reading!

Until I watched this video, I felt like I had read a lot of Stephen King, but apparently not 😅

I was surprised you said under the dome was one of the least liked of his books. I’ve always compared it with The Stand in its structure and to me it just feels similar. I think I like Dome better just because it didn’t seem to drag on as much as I felt The Stand did. Both great books though!

I get a kick out of when you say "just a paperback no big deal" because IMO trade paperbacks are where it's at. Mass market paperbacks are too small and are awkward to handle when reading, hardcovers are heavy and bulky and also a bit awkward to handle when reading, whereas trade paperbacks are the perfect size and super comfy. And when you get one with a matte texture *chef's kiss* plus a lot of times I swear some of the best alternate covers are for trade paperbacks. Like the Misery and It covers you have, the trade paperbacks look so good. Though I guess hardcovers do hold up the best and look great on the shelf. But personally all my favorite covers and editions I own happen to be trade paperbacks. I think I'm a minority when it comes to book preference.
I am so jealous of your first editions and that signed copy. I ended up getting a lot of my Stephen King books from Goodwill so many of them are mass market paperbacks or beat up hardcovers. Maybe I should go through and see if any are first editions. I don't like buying from Goodwill anymore, because at least where I live it's rare to find books in good condition and I have realized over the years that I want my books clean and pristine. Many of my Goodwill finds I end up wanting to replace because they look dirty or abused. I'd rather buy new or from better thrift stores. I also worked at Goodwill for a while after I graduated high school and have seen how gross and unsanitary people's donations are...

I thought you should know: there are actually 3 versions of 'The Stand' and you have the complete unabridged 1990 version but you ALSO have the rare 1980 version. The 1980 paperback has one minor edit from the 1978 first edition and that is the year the story is set in is changed from 1980 to 1985. The 1990 complete edition is set in 1990 with cultural reference updates (things that hadn't happened yet in 1978).

Whilst I appreciate leather-bound books, the ones sold at B&N are poorly crafted. They use bonded leather instead of genuine leather, which makes them prone to falling apart if not kept in a controlled moisture environment. To maintain their condition, consider using a dehumidifier if you intend to store them.

I wanted to love Under the Dome. I enjoyed all until the very end. Then I wanted to huck it across the room. I would even reread it now but would skip the end. The main villain is just so vexing and I loved it. I have been meaning to read the Langoliers. I saw the most awful movie version of it when I was a teenager but the story sounded good. Maybe it will be more enjoyable as a book rather than a movie that looked like someone used MS paint for the special effects. 😂
