11/22/63 is my all time favourite book. The story is great, the execution was brilliant and felt involved with the characters. Also the fact that I m obsessed with time travel so it was sort of inevitable.
Got to reread it. Outstanding.
Nice! That's a pretty great choice for favourite book of all time!
It definitely holds up on reread!
A much Awaited Video. Already Done By Bookish Drummer. Now By Dave!
👍
Agree with just about everything you say here. Well done.
Saying that The Institute "pulls its punches" is a perfect way of putting it.
Cool sweater!
Thanks - the sweater was knitted for me by my mum 🙂
@@DaveReadsKing Ah, that makes it even better!
@@barry1578 😀
Couldn’t agree more. 11.22.63 is amazing. Top 5 King for sure.
Oh yes!
I have not read everything from this decade, but Doctor Sleep and Revival are defiantly amongst my favorites. One thing I love about the past 15 (or 20 years) of Stephen King is that by then he has already finished the Dark Tower, so now he can just kind of do whatever he wants. And so what we end up with is some of King's most experimental work. We get time travel, hardboiled crime, whatever the hell Fairy Tale is ect... not all of it works, but a lot of it dose.
Yep - it's similar to why I love his 90s stuff so much...he just gives things a go
Great list - you always make such great videos! I'm personally not a huge fan of 11/22/63 - but absolutely loved Joyland. Different strokes for different folks they say 💜 You always add such great tidbits..never spoiling an unread story, but offering exciting tidbits of encouragement to make you want to pick up the next one all the sooner! You've added Elevation to my list of upcoming reads!! 😊 Love your videos!
Nice, thanks - and always happy to bump things up someone's list!
I wish more people talked about Elevation. Really loved this book.
Yeah, me too - I think its a slightness causes people to forget it
I agree with your assessment of 11/22/63 - probably some of King's best work! What's funny is that the rest of my ranking is pretty much the flip of yours: I love the Mr. Mercedes trilogy and The Institute keep me very entertained. :D I haven't read Joyland yet, but I'm going to be adding it to my list since you enjoyed it so much!
Nice - that's the power of King, something for everyone!
There must be something in Keyhole that speaks to me only. 😄 Have never heard anyone particularly liking it except me. Revival and 11/22/63 are definitely among King's best, totally agree.
That's the beauty of King - he has something for everyone!
I was going to say Duma Key but realized it came out in 2008, one of my favorite and extremely underrated. Your top 2 books in this video are perfect
Thankee-Sai!
I've only read 11/22/63 and Revival, but they're both fantastic. Revival is in my top three King books.
Nice!
I have NO IDEA Little Finger has a youtube channel about Stephen King. Love it.
I’m sorry, what?
Pretty much nailed it. 11.22.63 Revival and Dr Sleep are incredible pieces of work for me. Any chance of moving back, kinda miss the tractors!
I'm keeping my eye out for a toy tractor when I'm in charity shops to pop on my shelf as a permanent easter egg for the old house!
@@DaveReadsKing I'll see if I can find one to send you!
@@nigelmilner1514 😅
I love Wind through the Keyhole personally.
That’s cool - it just didn’t do much for me
Hello Dave I really enjoyed the video I can't wait for the adaptation of The Institute
Yep, fingers crossed it actually happens!
My mom is in Vegas right now so fingers crossed that she gets along well with Randall Flagg
@@samtubebackagainramey6971 oof, she might do better to stay away from that guy!
@@DaveReadsKing mom is pretty tough and Randall Flagg isn't real so... But if he was he would probably be scared of my mom get her angry to the point where she starts yelling not good
This is my first time to your channel, and I'm going to be a bit superficial: I love your sweater!! Does it have a story?? It looks handmade (I'm a knitter). I just love everything about it from the cabled sleeves to the uneven stripes.
It was handmade, yes - by my own mother! I saw Noel Fielding wear a jumper in this design on the Great British Bake Off and asked her to make my own version 🙂
I fuckin love Joyland. One of the few books to make my eyes water because of how bittersweet and damn relatable it was at heart.
Good top 3 btw.
I do love the Mr. Mercedes trilogy though, but I see why it's not everyone's cup of tea.
💪💪💪
Here's my top favorites
Sleeping beauties
Full dark no stars
Revival
11/22/63
Aside from Sleeping Beauties I'm on board with these!
I totally agree with you about the institute 💯
Yeah - it's a shame because it definitely had the potential to be excellent
This decade was full of highs and lows for me! 😅 my least favourites would be Sleeping beauties, end of watch and the institute too. Faves go definitely to Revival and of course 11/22/63 Which is my favourite king in general.
Thanks for hyping up the bazaar of bad dream, that one is still on my tbr and no-one rly talks about it ever. Good to know someone at least liked it :)
No problem! Bazaar is, in my opinion, excellent - I hope you enjoy it!
Agree with your top 3, and their order! A mixed, but still potent decade of stories.
Totally - it rivals the 90s for intrigue for me
All things aside, I HAVE to know where you got that gorgeous jumper
Knitted bespoke for me by my mother's own hands!
it'll be interesting to see you ranking for 2020's, i did my video on that last week, it'll be fun to see if we have similar opinions or not
I’ll probably wait a bit longer to do that one - at least a year or so. He’s not slowing down any time soon! I can say with confidence that Fairy Tale would be at the bottom though 😂
I feel so jelous of those who have not read 11/22/63 yet. Living that book for the first time!! ❤
Ah, totally!
Great video. Top 5 1/ Mr Mercedes. 2/bazaar of bad dreams. 3/ finders keepers. 4/ doctor sleep. 5/ the outsider. Love the display by the way.
Thank you!
Nice! we have some similar opinions on the 2010's, although i don't like elevation, I really enjoy Finders Keepers, I think 11/22/63 is overrated a bit, Full Dark No Stars and Revival are my favorites from the decade.
Nice - it's great seeing how many other people enjoyed Full Dark...a very underrated book I think
Great review! Im not sure if you lidten to podcasts the stacks did a great episode on song of dolomon . Tar baby is one my fave books by her and the first one i ever read people dont talk about it much but i love it. Thx !
Thank you 😊
1. Joyland
2. Mr. Mercedes
3. Bazar...
Big fan of all three of those!
Top: 11/22/63
Top Tier: Revival, Full Dark No Stars, Bazaar of Bad Dreams, Joyland
Bottom: Elevation
Not read: Finders Keepers, End of Watch, Gwendy's Button Box
Shame on you: Ranking Wind through the keyhole at the bottom
I don't see any reason to shame me for sharing my own opinion? On my own channel no less!
Do u read books other than Stephen King's?
I do, yes, particularly lots of indie authors - if you sign up to my newsletter you'll get a recommendation of an indie author every week ;-)
My least favorite 😖
The institute
The wind through the keyhole
Doctor sleep
Interesting trio! Thanks :-)
