Yankee Boy Basin Road with Monkey Bike

Yankee Boy Road snow has been plowed. We made it within 1 mile of Mt. Sneffels hiking trailhead. Over 12,000 feet above sea level. The road from Ouray is 9 miles long and rises 4600 feet. That is an elevation gain of 511 feet per mile.

That would have been a messy trip in the recumbent! Riads were narrow, ice covered, and very bumpy.

The road from Ouray to the Basin is 9 miles long and climbed 4600 feet. That's 511 feet of altitude gain per mile. The road was fairly smooth. If we let the tire air pressure out, it'll work fine. We will give the trikes a try when the weather improves and the road dries up.
