Row Tator Recumbent Trike
Приєднався 17 лип 2018
Recumbent trike rides using the Sunseeker Fat Tad recumbent trike. If the trails or conditions are not right for the trike, we will go exploring with the fat bike or the Honda Monkey Bike. It doesn't matter what machine we choose, Tilly the Chihuahua is always up for a new adventure.
Monkey Bike takes on Owl Creek Pass, Chimney Rock, and Morrow Point Dam

The Rimrocker Trail goes over the top from Montrose to Moab. It is 160 miles long. We sample the first 25 miles on the east side. There are plenty of sites to see.
Storm King Monkey Bike Trail Ride
Переглядів 27021 день тому
A nice relaxing afternoon ride with the Monkey Bike. Storm King is a little short to be a 14er. With an elevation of 11,338 feet, it still will take your breath away as you approach the top. Listen to nature's background music provided by the high altitude birds.

The reservoir is full! We have never seen it at this high water mark. The trees that have taken root below the high water level may have second thoughts. Here's a link to the short video taken 9 months earlier at the same entrance to the lake. ua-cam.com/users/shortspysUlGS1L2s?si=cfZirKoJU3jqLXXg

103° Fat Tad Recumbent Trike Ride

Air temperature of 103° on the trail. The sunshade makes it possible to ride trike under the noonday sun. How do the ants with no protection tolerate such harsh conditions?

😁
Absolutely gorgeous!
The fat tad looks like it can handle that road with no problem.
Make “snow chains” with zip ties.
😀
I love how you enjoy nature.
@joannemartin7306 If we slow it down a little bit to take it in, nature is pretty awesome. Thanks for your comment!
So cuuuuute❤
Beautiful ride! Lots of fine things to see! Pup seems to like the adventure too. Did you move to the South West permanently?
@mihkhailgaudette4370 SW Colorado for now. Less humidity. Feels better here, except for the noonday sun, but we took care of that with the canopy. Tilly does enjoy the adventures. She does a lot of her own exploring on the end of the 14 foot leash, but we never film it because it's kind of slow.🥱 Thanks for your comments 🙂
7:00 reminds me of my bald spot. 😆
Wonderful ride. Makes me want to get a Monkey or a TW200 to do little trails. Although I live in the desert so I'm sure any little Chihuahua I take won't be happy in this summer heat. LOL!
Tilly keeps me in check. With her riding along, I try not to be stupid and take chances. We always take a bottle full of ice water. She stays under the umbrella out of the sun and enjoys the adventures. Thanks for your comments.
I put one tooth higher on engine outlet sprocket and road tires on my TW200. Incredible road bike then!!!
Love your videos keep them coming where is this in Colorado?
@@paulw1365 24 miles south of Montrose.
Love looking at scenery here, including wildlife and flowers!
Thank you so much for sharing you adventures!😃
@@BobLinton 4 hours pass so quickly when touring with the trikes. The canopies are the ticket for noonday sun.
What a beautiful ride! We will be in Colorado Springs in August. Looking forward to triking in the Garden of the Gods.
That sounds great. Get out and do it!
HAHA! Go for it! YA! WEEE!
Tilly said, "Let's go, daddy!"
That bridge looks wobbly!
Barbed wire usually used to keep cattle in their own territory.quite the steep ride!😊
where did you get the umbrella for Tilly

Oh wow your temps sound like ours in central Arkansas. My last ride last weekend was around 100, nice canopy you got!
100° in Western Colorado is more comfortable than 90° in Minnesota. The humidity was only 10% today. With the canopy, noonday rides are quite comfortable. Tilly's umbrella keeps her happy.
Hope you are in the South with those temps this time of the year!
Yes, SW Colorado. If we keep out of the midday sun using the canopy, it's not too bad. We always keep a thermos of ice water with.
Must still be in the South!?
SW Colorado.
Keep cool Mr Tator. 😀
10% humidity allows us to keep cool as long as we take along plenty of ice water.
@@rowtator6543 good to hear my friend!
@@rowtator6543 in Georgia the rain just floats in the air. LOL
You are thoroughly prepared. Where exactly is this trail?
Uncompahgre River Way south of Montrose Colorado.
You are a brave soul for riding in those temps. Looks like you are prepared with your shade & plenty of water.
Thanks for the comparison, that was good insight. I had an '18 DL1000 and currently have a '20 1050XT. I am considering adding the 800DE as a bike for BDR's and off-road adventures. The 1050XT will remain my ling distance touring bike
Tilly taking Daddy for a ride!
Made me smile!
😂😊
Saw your lady's sunshield, wondered what you might have for yourself. Looks good and shields you from sun and light rain. Still in the southern states? Will that shield be usable up north?
I built the red one first and worked the bugs out of it. Then, I copied the design and made the orange one. We just never needed a sunshade in Minnesota. The sun is not as direct and constant as the southwest.
😁
Loved the video! Been using heel cup pedals with all nylon straps removed! Heel cup pedals would suit vast majority of recumbent riders. No hand effort is required to use heel cup pedals. Have not yet (over many years now) removed weights in 4 sets of pedals. Possibly in the future, but limited mobility here. Was your sunshade homemade? Your appreciation of natural beauty is great, and that is well worth detailing!
The sunshade is an Amazon kayak model modified to fit the trike. It still rolls up in its included cloth storage bag in case a strong wind comes up.
@@rowtator6543 Too sweet, thank you!
Now I know who outbid me on those pedals!
I just couldn't see buying a brand new pair just to cut them up and modify. 😁
Some steep ride! Actually riding on the highway with monkey bike?
The speed limit in this area is 25 mph. Perfect for Monkey Bike tour.
❤ looks like it would be great for s long haul ride. Hope you have many wind free days under that shade!😊
Wind free days are rare around here. I have them tied down pretty well. 15 mph into a 20 mph headwind has been tested. 😁
Thanks for the ride beautiful scenery to boot
Hope your Lady has a good signal on you!
Yes, the phone signals find their way up the canyons in this area quite well.
Yes, the phone signals find their way up the canyons in this area quite well.
Great job my man.
Both shade AND cloudy days loved here!
That would have been a messy trip in the recumbent! Riads were narrow, ice covered, and very bumpy. How was the ride?
The road from Ouray to the Basin is 9 miles long and climbed 4600 feet. That's 511 feet of altitude gain per mile. The road was fairly smooth. If we let the tire air pressure out, it'll work fine. We will give the trikes a try when the weather improves and the road dries up.
Tilly needs some goggles!
We try to keep her under the umbrella so she doesn't get cataracts from the sun. As far as goggles go, she says, "Can't touch me."
What camera do you use? Videos are always nice! 👍
Note 20 phone. Most of the shots are hand-held, which keeps things smooth.
What a trek! And all by yourself too. Can understand why uour Lady would let you do that alone. Hope she had something equally as adventurous to do with her companions in the South west. 😮😮😮!
bravo for the good job for the stokage !! nice
I bet you can pull a bus with your Monkey! WoW! I love the veiw!
I bet that was the first time anyone said " I bet you can pull a bus with your Monkey" .
No one has said that, but today, Tilly and I rode past a family out walking, and they hollered, "we love the Monkey." They couldn't care less about Tilly or me.
@@rowtator6543 🥲🤥🤥
I think Tillie bit off more than she can chew. A very adventurous pup!
I tried to follow your ride while looking on google earth for the area where you were. Ha
