I have moved onto a much larger inflatable boat. But, The last frame I made lasted a long time, and I still have it. As long as you seal it with something heavy duty like 4 coats of maine spar varnish or west systems epoxy you will get many years out of a frame.
The floor is going to be my first mod on my M4. I just picked it up yesterday. The pipe insulation is a good tip for protecting the seams. Thanks for the video.
Sir that's a freaking awesome job I truly believe that that's the best design I've ever seen for the Mariner 4. Stay Blessed and Safe also tight lines.
Excellent build! Easy to tell you put a lot of thought and time into this project. I’m in Montana also and have been thinking of doing something like this for my wife and I to do some fishing . Right now I have a Fishcat 9 so I’m solo but want to be fishing together . Great inspiration, thanks for posting this.
Friend what a beautiful set up incredible.I have a question please?im going to build my own motor mount and your set up is the best ive seen how did you build and get the curves on the pvc frame that holds the tablet, well realy the hole motor mount.thanks so much for sharing.😊
Now that you have had time to use your boat. Is there anything you would change? Has your Intex Mariner held up? Any wear points on the boat where your wood frame touch?
It needs to be rigid, not necessarily heavy. You will be carrying stuff and people so the lighter the flooring, the more people and gear you can bring.
Congratulations, this was not a modification, it was a work of art out of curiosity what engine are you using? i use a 40lbs electric motor from intex just so you know how much your video runs the world I am from Brazil, caxias do sul, RS Um abraço fica com Deus
As far as that Ice chest goes.... I would also consider an electric and avoid the ice. I have a rather large Alpicool that's worked well but it would be too big for this boat so I might consider a smaller one. Another thing you might consider is using some sort of insulation around whatever cooler you decide. It's a lot more moolah but I'm considering Marine Plywood with that West System. Might go Mahogany. Sure would look pretty.
Hi great modifications, just got a mariner 4, and small 2.5 hp outboard, thinking about doing similar to what you have done but maybe add extra support for the outboard..? Have you built the latest one yet? How did things work out? Thanks for the video 👍😊
This motor mount is good for gas motors as well, but if I added a gas motor I would most likely build a frame based motor mount. I'm actually working on the 3rd frame as we speak, made a few changes, nothing major. The new changes are the front and back storage areas, where I keep my batteries... I'm using hinges on those instead of the original way, and I have this finished with different products. I coated it with 2 coats of ProLux SRD Natural Semi-Transparent Stain and I'm doing 3 coats of marine spar urethane. I'm also getting a different cooler, so I'll be making a new cooler/rod holder set-up.
This is a work of art but for myself i would go with a jon boat construction . For me the idea of an inflatable is a craft that can be transported and stored quickly and easily .
Fun vessel ... got mine in 2010. Still have it, renew lic as needed just in case I get to use again. Had lots of fun. My videos are on my Breezeaire channel but they are really nothing more than me and kids. No fishing videos which are way cooler. So how heavy is this, or do you just have it on trailer. Better yet maybe you have it on dry dock. Cool lay out.
@@RogueMTRafter I bought a mariner 4 and so did my buddy. Can you shed some light to us on what size wood and any floor plans you may have. We would be eternally thankful
I have a little harbor freight trailer that works great. I usually have another person that goes fishing with me, so it's super easy with 2 people, but I can manage it by myself if I have to.
Very nice build..
Gives me ideas for my M4.
Greats from The Netherlands
Please do a update video on how your M4 has held up?

Thank you kindly Eric, appreciate it.

Thanks much Al, please send any questions you have my way, happy to help! Happy fishing.
This is great. I just got my Mariner 4 and took it rowing for its first voyage. Battery box and motor are on order.

Awesome builds.
Great job both on boat and video!! Just subscribed to your channel so I don't miss your new videos. Thank you!
Thanks for subscribing. I'm going to be starting another frame soon with a motor mount that attaches to frame.
Thanks for the upload! Well done and good info.
I've found my next project!
Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to help out. Thanks!
Wow! Such great modification! Gratz Bro, enjoy!
Excellent project and excellent video. Thanks for sharing.
Great job. You sold me on the raft
Thanks for stopping by James. It's a great way to get a boat out without spending a fortune
great video Mr.!
Now that you have had time to use your boat. Is there anything you would change? Has your Intex Mariner held up? Any wear points on the boat where your wood frame touch?
Great job thx for showing
Do you row this boat, or use a motor? If you row, what is the seat position for rowing?
Awesome mods. I subbed.
Just got my M4. Can’t wait to test it out.
Nice! If you ever have any questions hit me up.
Do you think you want the floor to be light weight or would a “heavy floor” aid in stability?
It needs to be rigid, not necessarily heavy. You will be carrying stuff and people so the lighter the flooring, the more people and gear you can bring.
The 3/4" Birch Plywood I use is extremely stable. You could probably go with a thinner plywood, but I prefer stability over lighter weight.

Im using a Minkota 45 Endura and it works great.

If you add a gas motor I would work on a motor mount that connects to the frame. Good luck man!

Where did you get the motor mount ?

What amp hour of batteries were you using
I just use Walmart Everstart deep cycle marine batteries.
This is great! Do you still use the PVC floor and lay your floor on top of it, or just use the wood floor?
Just the wood floor, but it's sealed in West Systems Marine Epoxy (2 Coats)
Nice! Fellow Montanan here. Debating between Excursion 5 or the Mariner 4....
Mariner all the way, the skin is more durable.
Is your floor a single floor or split ?
Hey man, did you ever got into building that 2nd frame with the motor mount attached to the floor?
Hi Micro Boat-Garden! :D It's very interesting you video! :D which wood you used to made the frame? And which thickness? thanks a lot! :D
I used a sheet of 3/4 finished birch plywood on this frame and the new frame.
Hi, nice build. Did you ever upload your (updated/improved) second build video for your new mariner 4 as you talked about in this video?
Sorry Brian, I did get a better video put together just haven't had time to put it up yet. Hope Im not tooooo late in helping you.
@@RogueMTRafter I bought a mariner 4 and so did my buddy. Can you shed some light to us on what size wood and any floor plans you may have. We would be eternally thankful
What is the measurement of the flooring
I made a new frame and the width of the floor should be 34" wide. The points where is starts to curve and round-off is 14" in at each end.
The backs of the bench seats should be at the 14" point also.
Ì found that a two piece floor was much better for transportation purposes.
Have you had any damage to your mariner 4?
I had a few minor holes that I patched up, but nothing serious. For the money it's a great boat and pretty easy to maintain.
A boat in the kitchen….must be a Batchelor
No son. That's what a real man looks like. I know you must not have seen one, living in a world of simps.
Great job! Also a fellow Montana! Did you start the next build or did life get in the way?
I did the second build, and haven't had time to put the video together. I will at some point. Thank you for stopping by.
too cool
Seems like your ready for a 14' valco maybe 200$ more! This doesn't seem too portable anymore nice work though.
