Thank you. The thing I'm most proud about from our beautiful country since I am Irish is our music. It is just beautiful and we have such a lovely community around the country who celebrate our lovely music from our old folk songs to our trad.

I love that you don't shorten this gorgeous song. So many people do and make it in to a wedding song or an upbeat love song. To me, that cheapens it, because it is a beautiful song and it is about what it is about. Thank you for honouring the true song.xx
What I love about this song is that is it soft, a pure medley, a love story...and you have such control-range in you voice... so with this particular song you made it so soft and pure. This song always make me cry. Such a beautiful melody.
It's been eight years since this was released, yet to me it feels like eight days. The sweet grief encapsulated in this song and video is a rare jewel. There is little music that so perfectly captures the silence and numbness of losing someone you can't imagine living without. I keep coming back to it.

Everyone is talking about your voice and the arrangement - which are simply breathtaking. But your ACTING is what really makes this music video touch my heart the deepest. You could really be a professional actor if you wanted. The pace and emotions of the visuals make this song so much more solemn and grieving. I can't stop watching it over and over.
Peter, I have been singing, listening to, and loving Celtic/folk music for ages - and you, sir, have blown me out of the water with this version. I've had to have listened to this song by various artists for years - even sang it and signed it several times, but it never hit me like seeing this video and hearing you sing this. So looking forward to this full album!!

This song is about a man wishing to marry the ghost of his love even after she died.
The beginning "Then she stepped away from me" means her death, and just days or possibly moments ago she had said "it will not be long love, til our wedding day." He sees her spirit come out of her body and "move here and move there," before "she went her way homeward" to heaven; as she goes up to the sky she is the "one star awake" that he sees.
This is why "the people were saying: no two ere were wed" because no one marries a ghost, but he wants to. The "sorrow that was never said" is the wedding vows, "I do" because it never happened. The last the man saw of her was her spirit returning, with "her goods and her gear" smiling at him.
Years later, he still dreams about her because he is still in love with her, like he did "last night" that his "true love came in." He dreams that she is still alive, and that they will get married, because "it will not be long love, til our wedding day."
That's my theory anyway. I love this song and this cover.

That's always been my interpretation too. The first version I ever heard of this song clearly states "my dead love came in" in the last verse.
