Excellent arguments for Cherokee Trailhawk. Love your videos. Keep up the good work!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it
@@SamkoTradBow Take a look at the Honda Passport. Does not have rear locker but the AWD is very capable for your use case. Checks a lot of the boxes you have.
@@SuperAudionut the passport is a great vehicle. The locker is mandatory for me for the mud in ga and my recovery tactics. My ram diesel is the first vehicle I owned without a locker. Regretting it ever since. I'm in the minority here and most people will never use a locker. Bit for me it's mandatory.
Great vid! Love these Cherokees. Just to note: I have a 2015 Cherokee trailhawk with no lift, and it can perfectly fit falken wildpeaks AT3 at 245/70/17 without any issues or rubbing whatsoever- for those who may want bigger tires without lifting.
Good to know ow those tires fit stock! This cherokke trailhawk is amazing!
@@SamkoTradBow just realize that the Gen 2 KLs have slightly smaller wheel wells than the Gen 1s. There is a plethora of info on the forums and Facebook groups on these.
@@justinfoy7514 good to know! Thanks
Did you loose gas efficiency with the lift and tires?
Yes but only about 2 miles per gallon
Great video! Love it. Do you have a link in where to buy the lift kit?
Hazard sky. That's who makes the lift. Google hazard sky cherokee lift. It's excellent.
You're being so happy with the Cherokee makes me want to get one! I see Jeep now has a Cherokee called the X trim. It has some of the looks of a Trailhawk, the same wheels and tires and the 1inch lift. However it doesn't have low range, rear locker or tow hooks, but it is a lower price.
Personally I'd get the trailhawk for the locker and low range. So valuable if you take it off road. Such a great vehicle
Is that the V8?
v6. This version doesnt come in a v8.
Trail hawks are the best I still haven’t stuck my 13 grand Cherokee quad 1 no air lift no low range still a mountain goat I run Goodyear duratraks best in snow and mud I’ve found
Yep love the grand cherokee too!
It is a sweet set up. Getting ready to take a quick hunting trip up north for a few nights and would love to have this over a pick up to sleep in and hunt out of.
Yeah I definitely like the suvs for hunting. Love my truck too. But as long g as my wife has a truck for truck stuff I will buy an suv for myself
Are you keeping it? The Tacoma TRD Off-road is a solid choice.
Selling the cherokee to get the tacoma. But sure will miss this trailhawk. Such a great vehicle!
Bought your save thousands course. This video did it for me. Had to do it lol.
Awesome! You will love it. And im already starting to see deals come back even with the low inventory on some vehicles. I just passed up a deal on a jeep gladiator rubicon that stickered at 54k for 42k. its very sporadic deals here and there but atleast they are starting to come back.
Hey nice video! What about the Bronco though?
My wife wants to get a bronco sasquatch package when we are done with her ram. So that vehicle will already be in the drive way for her when it's time.
@@SamkoTradBow Oh ya I remember you saying that in your podcast. Hey I just want so say I’m a huge fan of what you are doing! I watch all of your stuff and listen to your podcasts. I bought your white tails course and it helped me out a ton. I had my first shot at a doe last week. I went in blind to an area and it turned out not to be what I was looking for, I just pushed forward to spot I had wanted to hang a stand at. I didn’t get into the stand until 8:30, felt really discouraged, then by 9:45, had two does show up. They were at about 40, I didn’t have my range finder and I had my 30 pin on missed low. Anyways it was still a huge win for me. That WMA is really hard to hunt, let alone getting to see deer. I would have just packed up and left if I hadn’t heard from you that it didn’t matter what time you get in your stand, just hunt when you can hunt. Thanks for all the advice and reminding me that it’s supposed to be FUN!
$29k???
Yes at the time. Before chip shortages etc.
@@SamkoTradBow I need to see the sticker or I call shenanigans...
2020 Cherokee Trailhawk myself. I love it! I have the MFC Off-road 2" lift and I'm wondering if you had to do any pinch weld modifications to fit the 265/65/17s? Any rubbing at all? I love the look of the tire, but really don't want to grind pinch weld. Thank you!
I did not need to do a pinch weld mod. I believe you only have to do that if you go with the 265-70-17 witch is an inch taller.
Besides the 1-1/2" HS lift did you do any other modes to fit the larger 265/65/17? Pinch weld mode?
I have the exact same Jeep and is love to have that setup and not have to cut up my jeep.
Thanks for your time.
On mine I did not have to trim or do a pinch weld mod. But it was so close. Never rubbed but so dang close..lol
Did your lift effect your warranty at all? Love the videos!!
I do not believe mine will as its only 1.5 inch spacer lift. I din not change any suspension parts or anything like that and it's such a small lift it won't mess with cv angles or anything like that.
I’ve been wanting to buy one for hunting.
love hunting out of mine. Especally in the rain with everything nice and dry and heated on the inside.
@@SamkoTradBow that’s exactly what I’m liking! Plus these damn trails here in Oklahoma sound identical to what you are driving around on. Get way off onto some prime restricted bow hunting areas in that thing! I’m looking right now online for pricing lmao
Wheel articulation the tires do not rub when they are pushed up in the wheel well? Also no rubbing when you turn the wheel lock to lock? Thanks
Correct on both counts on my particular vehicle. Others have had to do a pinch weld grind behind the liner.
@@SamkoTradBow I was looking to do the MFC 3" lift so should not be a problem awesome!!
@@CrazyGreek80 should be fine. If not the pinch weld mod is super easy to do. You will love the lifted trailhawk.
I have a 2019 rav4. Not comfortable but it gets me 35mpg got a tow hitch and small trailer
My daughter has a new rav 4. Amazing suv! You got a good one thst will last a very long time
I saw one of these at a maple syrup festival back in February that was all decked out for some serious off-road capability and I thought it was one of the best looking 4wd suvs I had seen. This will definitely be on my list to check out when I buy a new one here in a year or so. Exactly what I need because, like you, I can't get in to some of my spots without something smaller. We usually take my buddy's old early 90s Cherokee lol. My Yukon Denali ain't getting in there
Yep the size and capabilities off road along with its amazing on road and gas mileage makes this thing incredible!
This is the Crossover that I was thinking 🤔 about the most and still thinking about getting when I finally get out of my 150k mile 2013 Chevy Cruze. I would love to be able to get a mid size truck 🛻 like the Colorado ZR2 or even the new Nissan Frontier Pro 4x, but trucks are so expensive. The used vehicle market is extremely high right now and it is hard to find new, but at the beginning of the pandemic I found a green 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk with 20k miles for $23,000, now they are $29,000+.
Yep deals on used suck right now. Hopefully after the first of the year things start to stabilize
@@SamkoTradBow
One could only hope so, especially with my vehicle getting up in miles (150k) and having issues occasionally, especially the coolant reservoir, etc…
what do you do to stay in shape for hunting? do you have an exercise program? this is a big concern of mine now that I'm looking at 70 and I'm sure you want to hunt well into your 70s and beyond
I dont do any exercise at all but stsy pretty active and on my feet all day everyday with my work. But I should definitely start!
How did you recalibrate your Speedo with the larger tires?
Dealer will do it for you usually for free. But I never do. It's only off by like 3 mpg at 70mph.
Which moter there are three options
the standard v6 is what I have the 4.0 turbo is great to but you loos 500 pounds of tow capacity with it.
@@SamkoTradBow thankyou
my hunting vehicle is a Toyota Yaris hatchback. Pretty much the smallest car imaginable. funny driving down the highway with a buck strapped to the top. 😂 Ive had that thing down many two tracks in MI. I really want to 4runner though. You have me thinking i should consider the cherokee instead.. the most off road capable vehicle i have ever owned is a 2000 cherokee.
Can't go wrong with the 4 runner or cherokee.
have you measured your ground clearance? curious what it measures at. i didnt think that the 1.5" spacer lift actually lifted the car by 1.5"
it does actually lift it the full height of the lift as this vehicle does not have a solid axel like a truck does. its independent front and rear suspension with out a frame. so the whole vehicle lifts up by the suspension.
@@SamkoTradBow oh good to know. what brand was it? i'll check it out
@@coblaze1 my lift is by Hazzard sky
With the lift, did you lose gas mileage and ride quality? I love my Wrangler jk for being able to see over others but driving 87 miles a day gas sucked. I picked up a 19 trailhawk but I feel it sits just a bit low.
With the little 1.5 lift I have and bigger tires 265/65/17 and roof cross bars always on I still get 23-24 on the highway. That lift and tire combo gets me 2.25 inches higher than stock. Definitely noticeable. But nothing like the high seating position of a truck or wrangler
@@SamkoTradBow I type the question before you got to the part of the mileage. I'm like the ride quality and how quiet my Trailhawk stock, I just want to sit higher
So I’m taking your advice in your save thousands course and trying to figure out exactly what I want. I’m looking at the packages offered through Jeep’s main website. I seen you have the premium lighting. Is there anything you would recommend getting extra? What would be your recommended add on?
im assuming you are looking at the wranglers as the cherokee already has premium lighting on the trail hawk. On the wrangler i would upgrade to the led for sure. I would also add the auxiliary light switches as they are not expensive and a pain to ever add later. These are handy for lights, winch, etc that you want to add later. I would also get the tow package as it also includes a zoomable rear camera
@@SamkoTradBow no I’m looking at the trail hawk. On Jeep’s website they have 3 different packages (Trailhawk luxury group, ProTech II, Premium Lighting Group) the Premium lighting group offers “auto high beam head light control, Bi-Xenon HID headlamps, Front LED fog lamps, LED daytime running head lamps.” So it looks like it doesn’t come standard if you have to select the package? Also, thoughts on the V6 vs V8 ? Not concerned too much with towing but we do have some nasty red clay mud around here. Wondering if the V6 has given any issues trying to push through that stuff?
@@OklahomaLoneWolf you might be looking at the grand cherokee trailhawk and not the cherokee. The cherokke trailhawk only comes in a v6 and only one led option that is already part of the package
@@SamkoTradBow lol what in the hell? Why the hell do they blur the lines? Geez. I’ll have to look into the differences now
@@OklahomaLoneWolf hahaha. Huge difference in rig and price!
Why not a 4runner way more off road capability including locking rear differential and crawl control mode (with a trd pro or off-road model) and you get Toyota quality .
I have a locking rear diff, more ground clearance, better break over and approach and departure angles and amazing off road capabilities plus its 15 grand less almost same interior space and gets 5 mpgs more than a 4 runner. I love the 4 runner. But this is the smarter decision for how I drive. And toyota quality is no where near what it used to be. Getting worse every year. Not to mention the cost of parts and maintenance on a Toyota vs a jeep. Not knocking the 4 runner and I may end up getting one cause I like the looks so much. But thst would not be a wide decision but rather an emotional one
Quick question: what do you recommend for a blind? I have a marshy area that is filled with game trails and a buck that is definitely running them and I want to run&gun it with a blind popping in on different spots in the field every evening.
Id personally go with a natural made blind as there is already so much cover in there. setting up a big blind will wreck the area with all the changes.
@@SamkoTradBow is this just finding a blind that's already in the landscape and standing around, or is this pulling in materials and fashioning something on site?
@@LukePighetti hiding behind any cover thst is already available or fashioning something quick from surrounding
@@SamkoTradBow Thanks Jason
Toyota should really have two unibody SUV with decent AWD.
RAV4 is supposedly good, nothing in comparison to Cherokee.
Yep only thing out there comparable is the full size bronco, wrangler rubicon and 4 runner. All the other suvs are good but seriously lacking offroad stuff needed like a rear locker!
@@cw2gsp "unibody".
I really meant "unibody" when I wrote "unibody".
@@cw2gsp only the 4 runner in the trd packages has a locker. Nothing else in thoer line up does except the tacoma trd packages. Not even an option to add one on a factory order unless one of those vehicles in those trim levels
@@cw2gsp I ment available new today.
I want one so badly but am nervous about the transmission issues with the 9 speed 😔
Tons of them out there with close to 200k miles with out issue. Don't believe all the crap on the internet. Just like all the people that rave about toyota reliability but tacoma frames are rusting thru and they burn thru control arm bushings and CV axles keep going bad.
Buy what you want and know it could or could not have problems.
Also like ram Cummins 3500 is a consumers report worst diesel truck to own yet 95% of hot shot high mile truckers swear by Cummins. Gow f150s engine knock is gonna destroy the motor. How all chevy 1500s are a ticking time bomb and the motor will blow at any min. Etc. If the motor or Trans in this cherokee had issues they would of worked them out long ago. It's been put for over a decade and used in so many vehicles.
I swear you read my damn mind lol!!! I’ve got money burning a hole in my pocket to get one of these hahaha
You will be very happy with it
where do you sleep if you have a deer in the back? :D
I dont sleep in there to camp. just for a few hours on long drives to and from out of state hunts. and for those trips im pulling a trailer with my camp and hunting gear in it so the back end of the trailhawk is empty.
Lol
