The second mountain made no sense, he looked malnourished. The third one as far as replacements go is cool except he's supposed to be the hounds older brother and Thor bjornson looks and is way younger than the dude who plays the hound.
Pretty much. The current mountain's actor is 30 years old while the hound's actor is 49. The first mountain's actor is 43, which is a bit closer in the right direction. The second mountain is 47, but obviously he didn't look good for that particular role.
Stroma looks like he could really be related to sam. Tom harper looks like a Lannister. The original Mountain def looked meaner and looked related to the hound
I thought that "the second Daario" was some random more special dothraki, then my friend told me he is supposed to be the long-haired guy from previous season... creators didn't even try to make them look similar
Daario was just ridiculous. When it introduced the new actor in season 4, I couldn't even tell who the character was for a long while. Sometimes recasts are necessary. Sometimes the actors give the show runners no choice. But at least TRY and make them look remotely similar to the previous actor!
It pisses me off because we know we will see the Tarlys in season 7 now, and there are only 7 episodes per season, a lot of screen time wasted on people no one cares about.

Way more money goes into the CGi for Season 5 Night King than the one in Season6. They rely highly the make up and prosthetic now more than the CGI due to a) The actor got recast and b) The Night King will obviously be having way more screen time now onwards, compared to the "cameo" in Season 5 and even 6 for that matter
I hate the new look now. His face is way too stretched, and his eyes are way too close together. He looks comical compared to the season 5 one, who looked frightening as well as menacing. A rare example of CGI being better than practical. But even then, as much as it's been explained that they wanted to cut costs and go with practical effects, why didn't they do that, and also just stick with the season 5 Night King actor, rather than recast him entirely?!!

The Night King recast is my least favourite. The current one looks almost 'ugly', not saying the actor is, just as the Night King. Doesn't look as eerie as the old one. Also the prosthetics and cgi. The first one looks like ice, the current one just looks like he has blue skin.

The Mountain was completely different in Season 2. The 1st and 3rd Mountain was a brutal savage who barely talked and didn't seem very smart. While The 2nd Mountain seemed more like a civilized man with higher intelligence and talked more often and looked completely different. The 1st and 3rd actors also look pretty similar unlike the 2nd.

I do not understand why they changed the _Three Eyed Raven_ so dramatically. What was it about the original that was so wrong, that they'd change him into a replacement that just looked like a typical man in his sixties, as opposed to someone who had been waiting centuries? Also, I never really understood the replacement of _Myrcella Baratheon_. The second one was a terrible actor, just as bad as the _Sand Snakes_. Bad acting and some very bad scripting. I'm sure some of you know the line to which I refer.

Berric Dondarrion and the Lannister kids are the only recasts I don't mind. The new actor for Berric is really good, and the Lannister kids were really young in seasons 1-2 and their new actors look pretty similar, so its not too bad.

Freddie Stroma recast was amusing. He decided to take the lead in Time After Time, a show that didn't even air all the episodes they made.

The Dario recast confused the heck out of me 😂 at first I was like "who the fuck is that guy". When I figured it out I just thought maybe he cut and died his hair and grew a beard between seasons I had no idea it was two different people 😂
I do not understand why they changed the _Three Eyed Raven_ so dramatically. What was it about the original that was so wrong, that they'd change him into a replacement that just looked like a typical man in his sixties, as opposed to someone who had been waiting centuries?
Also, I never really understood the replacement of _Myrcella Baratheon_. The second one was a terrible actor, just as bad as the _Sand Snakes_. Bad acting and some very bad scripting. I'm sure some of you know the line to which I refer.

Availability maybe? actors have other gigs. I suspect based on what some cast members have said that because of the success of the show lots of named actors want to be involved as the seasons went on.

Do some research before making a video. Instead of saying "I think" or "If I remember correctly" go to this magic little thing called Google and type in "Why was ________ recast?"

I don't remember any of these early cast characters. I have to rewatch to notice, now that I know/understand the show better.
That's one big pet peeve of mine with movies or series when they change actors (exception is growing storylines and needing adult actors of course), but for the most part it sets me on edge knowing that they aren't the originals.

The current Gregor/The Mountain actor is almost 20 years YOUNGER than the actor who plays Sandor/The Hound, despite the fact that the Mountain is supposed to be older by a few years.

I'm so buzzing to see Tom Hopper. I used to be completely obsessed with Merlin and he played Percival in that and became one of my favourite characters. Can't wait to see him in Game of Thrones

I'm guessing they used Ian Whyte because they didn't have a replacement lined up yet (since the first guy was cast as an Orc King in the Hobbit) and he happened to be the tallest guy on set.
Berric Dondarrion and the Lannister kids are the only recasts I don't mind. The new actor for Berric is really good, and the Lannister kids were really young in seasons 1-2 and their new actors look pretty similar, so its not too bad.

The only recasts i noticed when i watched game of thrones was Dario and The Mountain. The second and third time i rewatched it though i noticed more. It's hard to remember what all the actors who play so small roles look like when it's a 1 year break between every season you know
