I’ve always wondered what it would be like to be a passenger on a cargo ship and you’ve answered my question. This is the power of UA-cam - allowing viewers to vicariously have real-time real-wold experiences !
Do you have a great voice and a great eye for beauty. I would’ve loved to seen breakfast lunch and dinner as part of the cruising experience. I’ll standby for the next one. God bless love from Colorado USA.
Did you know that the Kingston harbour is the seventh-largest natural harbor in the world, also It's the seventh deepest harbor in the world, and much of it is deep enough for large ships to dock close to shore.
@@WhatTheShip I was about to ask the same question, as you seemed to have total freedom to go anywhere on the ship. Very enjoyable vlog Thanks for sharing ⛴ ⛴ ⛴⛴⛴👍👍👍👍👍👍 ⛴ ⛴ ⛴⛴⛴
My last tour in the Navy i was stationed at Naval Support Activity, New Orleans. People of the city arent very friendly. I had to carry a hand gun every where i went in town. That segment of the vedio where a pilot boat was coming out was actually where the base was. When you said the guy wouldn't give you a ride i was thinking it sounded just like the locals.
I'm wondering ... Do all container ships carry extra passengers traveling for pleasure? (I'd like to try it). How much does the shipping company charge for the passage?
From my understanding if you're just a shipmate or a cargo handler you're not supposed to be up in the bridge when it's in port. Only when the ship leaves port. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have questions for you I am from Canada , On April 7 sent barrel from Mississauga Ontario , Canada, Now it is June And my family want to know when it going to arrive Where does the shipping container From Canada to Jamaica Montego Bay We call the wear house were we ship with The lady told us that it because of the war in the middle Eastern That the ship is stuck in middle Eastern Can you tell me where does the cargo ship travel from Canada To Jamaica What route does it take that what I am asking
Prison? Really? You should travel in enlisted quarters on a Naval Vessel. You would be sharing that space and head with 10 other people. Even junior officers would be 4 to bunk room.
You didn't show your river boat pilots on the deck. You probably had 3 different one's fron NOLA to pilot town in Venice. South Pass next. Fyi, all Riverboat Pilots are related. Rather your immediate famiky member must be a pilot. They make alot of $$$$$ Man, next time that ever happens in New Orleans Contact the New Orleans Habor Police dispatch and mention your issue. Ask for rank. Im surprised you were not able to enter the port off Tchoupitoulas St. either by the First Street Entrance, Jackson Ave or Napoleon Ave entrance. Or a few miles up river near State street. Just curious, what entrance did they bring you that was closed??
Somebody needs to work on that rust. That ship is covered, neglect and it becomes a cancer if left un attended. I, have worked that scene myself . I know.
Worked on one for a few days in the Bahamas. If you couldn’t clean it you painted it. The chipped layers were incredible. I threw away those clothes. No way they were coming back to any semblance of life again.
@guybeingaguy I did my fare share of throwing away uniforms and coveralls whole in the Navy. Especially those days we prepped then laid nonskid down with a roller out of a 5 gallon can. I still have PTSD nightmares about that.
Should have just came in through the southern border. They'll just let you right in and fly you to your town of choice on the house for you court date 3 years from now. Might need to replace your travel agent.. Crazy Jamaica has better immigration laws than the US.
So ... Let me understand. You just took a container ship from NoLa to Jamaica FOR THE FUN OF IT? No vacation on a Jamaica beach? You just turned around and went home. You put yourself in this position and then you complain that its like being in a prison? YOU PUT YOURSELF IN THAT PRISON! BTW ... Did you PAY for this trip? What does a container ship trip cost? What was the food like? Didn't you get to interact with any of the crew? (Where were they from?) Or were you in solitary confinement during your jail sentence?

Wow, New Orleans so special, the Mississippi is so powerful, the oceans so blue, and Jamaica so beautiful.

Believe dat New Orleans my city 💯💪🏼
I here watching from Jamaica and I work on the Port of Kingston😅 great video. Mississippi River is huge!

@@WhatTheShip how do you book such a trip? Thanks t
Aww man, i am very disappointed you didnt do a room tour of accommodations and mess, even the bathrooms! I want to see all that stuff! Great video
Hi, How do you find cargo ships that take passengers? Thanks
I just went down the Mississippi on a Carnival cruise ship! What an experience!
Would have been good to show more ships life, dining, rec room, etc.
Absolutely. I didn't learn a thing. Internet availability, food, facilities, no go zones, costs? Other travellers on board?
Big up Jamaica love barrels dem reach 😊🇯🇲🙏
This is so interesting.
Thank you for this video I am from Jamaica I went to New Orleans many times before 🇯🇲🇯🇲
How much did it cost for every thing??

Made the same trip on a cruise ship. Was surprised how long it takes to get from New Orleans to the gulf down the Mississippi.

@@Plusty07 thank you for this information. The whiny poster of the video didn’t really give us any facts.
first time at N.Orly 1981 stay 55 days supermemorys!!!
Made it to the end. Very interesting
Great video. I like your longer format videos. Maybe you can show what your job is onboard these vessels.
I was wondering the same thing what do you do onboard?
Very cool. How are you able to do this? Or is it your job? Thanks for the video.
I did an IT job on this ship that took 5 days to complete.

The amount of computing power on container ships is quite impressive and extensive.
Would have been nice if you had filmed them cutting anchor chain
Was too busy that day to go forward
Hello from Bogota Colombia. Its incredible how big yhose ships are. Cool videos
love the exhaust sound 👍👍
At slower speeds in the engine room you can hear each cyclinder fire, at 14 knots we were running 60 rpm
Great video!!
Thanks!
Would have been great to see what the food was like on a cargo freighter
I love Kingston Jamaica because it’s looklike old Philippines and people are very friendly way back 1987

Yup, NOLA is A 3rd world sh*t hole
very fun when you can traveling around large ships like that
i was working the ship behind yall. How long does it take to reach the gulf?
I think we hit the gulf in 5 hours, we’re doing 14 knots even at dead slow
I may be wrong, but I think that Pilot's Station at the mouth of the Mississippi used to be a Coast Guard station..
Enjoyed the video, I’ve made many trips up/dwn the Ms river.
I'm wondering ... Do all container ships carry extra passengers traveling for pleasure? (I'd like to try it). How much does the shipping company charge for the passage?
Not that I am aware, I was onboard doing some work.
I was hoping to see the food!
very cool! living near Anchorage i would love to ride to Seattle but not going to happen due to restrictions.
Thanks for the video! Question: how did you book this trip? Did you go through an agent?
I was doing some work onboard that required sailing with the ship.
When you say the anchor was ‘stuck,’ do you mean it was fouled with something on the bottom?
Unknown windkass couldn’t get it up, ship spent 18 hours trying.
@@WhatTheShip, thanks. Does sound as if it was fouled. I was just curious.
It would be interesting to see a typical cargo manifest that shows what is in each container and what its destination will be.
Cargo is unknown unless hazardous and or extremely explosive
@@ThirdCoastDrone I meant to ask you what kind of database and what kind of programming tools do you use for a container ship ?
@@billwilliams5889 the amount of onboard databases and server based applications is more extensive than you would suspect
@@ThirdCoastDrone Yes cargo in containers unknown ??
Cargo manifest is done by the shore office
Hey thanks for the video! How are you able to travel on these ships? Do you have a personal contact or use a service?
Great footage
Glad you enjoyed it!

How did you book a trip like that?
The boardlanolium was a small hatch crotchet
🙏
Is this a normal route i would like in fo on this vessel and agents
What is your position?
Any roles for someone w a "white collar" business background (maybe inventory mgt for example)? TY
I do It onboard takes about a week per job, some ships have an admin assistant onboard that isn’t licensed. But doubt that pays much.
@@ThirdCoastDrone Looks like you're a photographer?
No dolphins swimming off the bow? Or flying fish?
I wouldn't call your boat prison. It looks to be very well maintained.
Alot of rust needs att4nding to what flag
Consider a phone holder of some kind, keeps fingers out of the picture. But enjoyed your video.
I have questions for you
I am from Canada ,
On April 7 sent barrel from Mississauga Ontario , Canada,
Now it is June
And my family want to know when it going to arrive
Where does the shipping container
From Canada to Jamaica Montego Bay
We call the wear house were we ship with
The lady told us that it because of the war in the middle Eastern
That the ship is stuck in middle Eastern
Can you tell me where does the cargo ship travel from Canada To Jamaica
What route does it take that what I am asking
If it’s on a CMA CGM ship you can track where the shipment is on their website.
@@WhatTheShip ok
How do I apply for a job on a container ship
Why do we never see the Captain in the videos? It's like he is never on the bridge?

Appreciate the video, especially, because I'm from Louisiana. I wish I could work on ship
You seen prison, I see: NO RENT TO PAY or food to buy.

How much for trip
..‘covered in rust’..he says, yeah but it’s a working ship not some chintzy yacht in the south of France!!
Pilots must get paid very well. Cant imagine transferring vessels in rough weather
Check what the longshoremen are smoking
