Don't get a studio...we like your garage! Your content, knowledge, advice, instruction AND humor are why we are here. I learn something new from most every video you post. If I don't learn anything new, I find myself with a smile on my face (just like the smiley face on the mirror behind you) when the show's over. Keep keeping it real!
We had crazy winds one time while putting the plastic on the hoop house. Big gust came and and was about to take the whole thing, but I was holding onto it for dear life… and I went for a little Mary Poppins ride. It lifted me off the ground and up and over the entire hoop house. It was an exciting day.
I've recently found your channel in the last couple weeks and I seriously have been binge-watching your videos. The mirror in your garage that was behind you looks exactly like a mirror my mother had on an old dresser when I was growing up. It makes me smile and remember many memories. ❤💐
Yep, just rewatching, because I’m getting my plan in place for the year with my 1 small heat mat and 1 grow light… lol but lots of seeds. Thank You Nicole. Gotta start somewhere right.
I LOVE IT!!! Mess and all. Beauty is an aspiration, but let’s be real... life happens! 😆😉🥰 Thanks for keeping it real! I’m so excited your hoop house is accessible now!!! Ohhhh the anticipation to see all the babies grow and bloom. 🤩I’ve only gotten my winter sowing done. So much to do!!! Feeling the pressure as the clock ticks closer to spring. 😅. Blessings and much love Nicole! 🤗 💞🙏🏻
Your videos are the absolute best on the internet. I am pretty sure your videos have gotten me through this dreary winter and I have gone back and watched so many of your old ones over the past few months. I love the fact that my girls (age 4 &6) can watch your videos with me and they both think you are hilarious and a little crazy haha 😂 We love the joy you bring to the internet and your passion for flowers and gardening is so addicting and fun to watch. Thank you for all your hard work and frequent updates! Happy growing!
Hoophouse looks awesome! I guess I’m not the only one seeing soil blocks on the inside of my eyelids when I lay down at night 😂 I LOVE this time of year ❤️
😄 my snapdragons are just compacted together... lol 😂 it’s only my first flush of plantings but ya. I was testing out my own seed from last year and BOOM! Tons of babes 😍😍🌱🌱 Exciting. More to come.
The dog is made for the camera! 📷 🐕 But for real, things are getting busy on the farm! Can't wait to see it come to life this summer. I'm headed back to the farmer's market this weekend. First time selling tulips, anemones, and ranunculus at the market.😃
Great idea on the pizza table tops! I just ordered them. A little advice on the phlox. I usually just use a dark plastic bag, say a Walmart bag and cover the entire tray with it. It works all the time for seeds needing darkness.
I switched from plastic wrap to burlap. So happy I did, breathable but holds the moisture in and if the seedling poke through they are easy to wiggle out
Hey just thought Id pass this on, maybe it would be helpful for you. I got sick of plastic collapsing, squishing things. Go to the $ store and get shoe boxes. Use the lid for the seed blocks, they are similar in size to the meat trays. the box part makes the humidity done. It works perfectly.
I bought my very first two heat mats this year and had a big bottom lip of needing more. A bright light bulb went off above my head ... why not use my feet heat warming blanket?? IT WORKS! Yep, I did a "it works" dance. Thanks for the pizza idea!! I'm going to put that idea to use here too. :-)
I just seeded up some asters this week. I have never grown them before but a couple of months ago my granddaughter said that asters were her birth month flower so of course, I, grandma, had to grow some. I let her pick the colour from my Veseys catalogue. Germination is estimated at 2-3 weeks so I thought I better get them started. I am in central Alberta so we can plant outside til pretty much the end of May so I think I am good.
Nicole , no apologies for your garage , it’s on a farm !!! I had a question, do you need to harden off the ranunculous, or any other seedlings before they go in the hoop house?? Or does putting them in there harden them off as well ?? Love you ,Love your videos, your garden, your farm ❤️🌸😊🌻
Okay, now I'm stressing out. I haven't started any seeds yet. Tomorrow. I had some leftover unused potting soil and heard one gardener say to sift out the bark. I used my salad spinner and kept the chunks of bark for mulch. There was quite a bit of it. Fun! Now I'll fill my winter seed sowing containers with that soil and get them out in the sun. We still have a lot of snow in Minneapolis. I fell behind on what I'll start indoors (I'll use seed starting mix for that). I forgot stock needs a lot of growing time. Good to know about snaps doing well without the heat. You do not need to apologize for your garage. It's just like our garages.
I want to thank you so much for the tip on getting Bells of Ireland to germinate. I have 30 plants so far. Second batch currently in the fridge. Thank you again, so much.
I don't use any heat mats and my seed room is only a steady 17.1deg celsius. My germination is always before what they say. Even my ranunculous germinated many days early. I think heat mats are a waste of money and time.
I definitely don’t think they are a waste of money but they are not necessary for many things! I’m glad your space works for you 💐 I’ve never put ranunculus on heat.
@@FlowerHillFarm Maybe a video on what needs a heat mat and what does not would be a good upcoming video. The things you use on the heat mat might be things I have not currently grown.
Congrats on your hoop house. You may want to support the hoops on the inside in the fall, as the heavy snow will cause the hoops to bend. Learned this the hard way. We live in Lewis Co.
I could sell ya a car for like 2,500!!!! (The KBB value is like 6K) Its a white 2012 Honda pilot with 193K miles (these cars are made to go over 300K) and it is massive, it has never let my family down in the past ten years and we need to get rid of it by the first week of April. It could also be used as a flower delivery vehicle 😂, I am in Pittsburgh PA!!
So happy that snapdragons don't need heat to sprout. My heat mat space is limited. I have issues with some of my other smaller seeds sticking to the plastic wrap covers...annoying! I didn't know those little thingies are called pizza tables. And I love your puppies!!

How do you keep everything going I only have three shelves some dry way faster than others.ughhhh Love your videos I learn and laugh. 🌷🌷🌷
Nicole, using pizza tables to keep the plastic wrap from sticking to your newly sprouted seedlings is a great solution! I've used empty pill bottles in the same way, but they use some of the planting space, whereas the pizza tables don't.
