Predicting the Winner of Eurovision 2024 Based on Real-Life Events Only

- We’re all well aware that factors outside of music impact the Eurovision Song Contest. The most common factor is, of course, politics! Even though Eurovision prides itself on not being political, that simply doesn’t exist. Any way you look at it, any sort of a statement, show, action, piece of art or whatever done by people carries some political message. This political message, of course, varies in intensity. I would even argue that being apolitical is a form of a political stance. I’ve noticed that the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 helped Eurovision guide it towards this more obviously political show that it is now. Kind of like a soft-reboot happened. For every winner since that year, you can easily link major real life political or cultural events that would explain the wins.
I am going to predict the winner simply by looking at what’s happening outside the competition. I’ll give you three options just to cover my ass! I have only heard 3 songs that are going to compete this year - Serbia’s song, Croatia’s song and Spain’s song. I have also not seen the rehearsals, except my own country’s. However, Serbia is not one of my three picks for the win.

Just here after the final to say you're a genius
came back here because you were right, when i heard the news i chuckled remembering this video
when nemo won I immediately thought of your video again 😅
Htjela bi da Baby Lasagna pobjedi.Ili bar da dođe blizu u finalu
thank you for considering Serbia song and I agree for Croatia and Swiss but my notstrategic favorites are Ireland and Slovenia
aaaand you predicted it right
Fully understand your position, and I don't actually disagree with anything you say. But it does seem a bit reductive to show Nemo (Switzerland's entry this year) in the thumbnail and use footage from their music video yet not talk about their song at all and even point out that you haven't bothered to listen to their song. I wouldn't mind but it's literally 3 minutes.
Ugh... see, this is why I had to include that line that I need people not to act dumb and twist my words. The point of the video is that in recent years outside-factors have influenced the results more than the actual "quality" of songs.
Furthermore, SOME PEOPLE, meaning MYSELF, like to listen to the songs AT the competition, because that's what should be judged. My video clearly said nothing negative about Nemo or any of the performers; for all I know, Switzerland's song could be my favourite this year, or my least favourite.
Interesting how you also did not have the same energy about me not listening to 30+ other countries' songs. Interesting how you did not have the same reaction to Ukraine's song. Nemo was used for the thumbnail because Switzerland's my number one pick, just like I said in the video, and the reason behind my pick is, OH, GET THIS, right behind Nemo.
Again, no need to twist someone's words for the sake of getting likes, or for the sake of getting fake mad. However, I'm glad we agree on the main point of the video. Thank you for watching, Alex! 💛
No intentional twisting of words, especially not for attention. Just misunderstanding perhaps. Not saying you _have_ to listen to any of the songs by any means (maybe be cautious of exposure bias though - but that's a totally different discussion).
But in a discussion vid explicitly not about the specific songs themselves, it's an interesting choice to use Nemo's face and snippets from their music video when this video isn't about them, it's about Switzerland (and the other countries). Whether you've listened to the song or not is actually irrelevant now I think about it.
And just gonna reiterate at the end - it's a minor critique and I mean no slander on you or anything. I'm saying everything in a positive way ☺️
Can you explain your stance on why you refrained from listening to more of this years Eurovision songs?
I don’t see Celine flying to Switzerland to perform at Eurovision just like Abba didn’t give a single fuck about their win celebrating 50 years and Eurovision being in Sweden (just for them, like you implied)
Ah for f.... sake. Have you listened to the Irish song. According to your weird perceptions of Eurovision, Ireland should win this year. Please do a video of your reaction to Ireland in the semi finals. everyone else is.
zelim da se druzim sa tobom
It's gonna be Netherlands, Switzerland or Croatia. But my favourite is Norway.
joost gonna swipe
I mean, Switzerland is winning, but definitely not because Celine is sick
I too have not heard any songs from this year. I love eurovision but I cannot support a contest that lets a country committing genocide partecipate.
I will not be watching. Free Palestine🍉
