Disclaimer, I’m not in favor of Israel being included here in anyway Cause by technicality, they didn’t declare their intentions for war with Palestine, rather they were “retaliating” in response to the October incident. It’s how ESC was able to keep Israel in the running, and under the guise of ESC being an apolitical event, could ban event goers and contestants from displaying any paraphernalia that was in support of Palestine for fear of causing outrage or even violence. They demanded Irelands contestant Bambie Thug from including an ancient Celtic writing that when translated spelt ceasefire that was included in her makeup for her number. The artist Eric Saade was able to work around and wore a keffiyeh on stage as he’s half Palestinian, but he’s been getting backlash by event organizers after his guest performance in the semifinals

I saw the video camerawoman harassing Joost who asked several times her not to film. Woman didn't listen so Joost turned the camera away (not harming the woman ) who started screaming : Don't touch me ! several times. Well, I will predict this odd incident will be blessing in disguise for Joost. I checked his gig videos and damn he is good ! So let's book him for summer festivals.
Official statement is out: 'An incident occurred after last Thursday's performance. Against clear agreements, Joost was filmed when he had just gotten off stage and had to rush to the greenroom. At that moment, Joost repeatedly indicated that he did not want to be filmed. This was not heeded. This led to a threatening movement from Joost towards the camera. Joost did not touch the camera woman. This incident was reported, followed by an investigation by the EBU and police. Yesterday and today we consulted extensively with the EBU and proposed various solutions. Nevertheless, the EBU has decided to disqualify Joost Klein. AvroTros finds the measure very heavy and disproportionate. We stand for good manners, let there be no misunderstanding about that, but in our view an exclusion measure is disproportionate to this incident. We are very disappointed and upset, also for all the millions of fans who were so excited for tonight. What Joost brought to the Netherlands and Europe should not have ended this way.'
If you banned Russia, you should bann Israel. But this Eurovision Song Contest is just ridiculous, it‘s divided by music. No one need this contest, they should close the whole thing and never do it again.
It's memorable though - boring song and overly vulgar performance, but it's at the very least memorable. Which can't be said for entries like German song. It likely won't be last.
"the greek singer looked less than impressed" - this press conference took place after the semi final last night and it was about 1am Swedish time. All the artists were exhausted and it was reported that she was also ill. I think from this context that it's very clear that she was trying not to fall asleep in that clip. But why bother giving context when you can help spread this gossip instead.
@jeffknop-wq2ye freedom of speech is not an excuse for freedom of bullying, victimisations, intimidation and extending hatred. One little 20 year old being heckled and booed by a large crowd of hateful people is not acceptable or freedom of speech.
That is so unfair and frustrating. First, they disqualified Belgium for not showing Isreal’s performance and now Joost for what reason? That’s unbelievable.
Despite the agreement not to film contestants while leaving the stage a camera woman filmed Joost anyway he asked her to stop She didn’t stop , he made a gesture to her( didn’t touch her) to go away She reported him for being aggressive This is why he was disqualified, nothing to do with Israel….
By disqualifying Joost from participating in the final, the EBU declared him guilty even before the police investigation was completed. Talk about decent standards of behaviour.... Reminds me of Dutch cyclist Mathieu van der Poel who was accused of assault the night before his big world championship race that he was expected to win…. An Australian judge later overturned the conviction, but hey, the race was already lost and his dream was shattered. Poor Joost man... the fact that AVROTROS strongly disagrees with it says a lot about how disproportionate this is, the investigation is still ongoing and that they don't know yet what happened, because they can't really know whether he is guilty, they thought that it was best not to let him perform, sory this is completely unfair, of course 'their house, their rules', but remember every country pays a lot of money to compete, One side says “disqualification”, the other side says “that is disproportionate”. And I'm sure the only way we'll find out more is if the prosecutors decide they want to pursue a case against him, or he and the associate come out and clear things up. I'm certainly not betting that the EBU will tell us, in any case Cornald Maas (Dutch commentator, also involved in the selection of Dutch artists and a really honest guy) said that the incident was not that bad and disproportionate, work-related harassment and Harassment has been a major topic in NL after scandals involving prominent people in the media I think Cornald would never support Joost so vocally if they weren't sure the disqualified was being unfair.

I think there is not such thing as apolitical. Everything is politics in this world between nations and how they see the other nations.
So why not allow Russia in ?

If you banned Russia, you should bann Israel. But this Eurovision Song Contest is just ridiculous, it‘s divided by music. No one need this contest, they should close the whole thing and never do it again.
