For me it's still absurd and kinda funny that the only guy who actually sang about uniting europe got kicked out. Even though he was ready to apologize publicly after what happened. Eurovision and ebu yells they have motto about united by music and peace, love and forgiveness for everybody but then they do this.. I just can't with them..

Imagine being a young person of 26, you get the big opportunity to represent your country after being selected through many other songs and you get to hear you are the first person to ever be disqualified. What an utter nonsense this year's EBU was. Completely invisible to the criticisms and matters where it mattered most. As a Dutch fan I cannot possibly describe how deflated I felt this year. Great on Nemo for winning it though, they were amazing. But F the EBU.

my heart melted when bambie crowned nemo eurovision was a mess this year, but i think we've seen truly how it unites people. all the booeing, the participants friendships and all (which always present but this year is especially, also showing how it's important to not only win but to share a moment with each other). all artists did great!!

@leonardaperic8981 he is the face of the EBU, and the ebu has been terrible this year. EBU banned Russia but not Israel. EBU disqualified Joost Klein. EBU did not respond to the complaints about the behaviour of the Israelian team (they were assholes behind the scenes).

I can understand the confusion of the Greek singer. After hearing "12 points go to Switzerland" 293757 times in a row I also wouldn't expect it. The jury voting this year was the most boring and predictable I remember ever.
Beautiful yet bad mess. Switzerland won, Croatia lost. Its like Loreen and Käärijä again, but they are more loved. I still think that both deserve to share their trophies. Nemo won, they are shocked and i am too, since i didn't know that Nemo is that jury good, and its good! Croatia, while being in 2nd place i am actually proud for. I voted for this, but it's nice seeing a fellow country win Eurovision well. Ireland deserves it, by being one of the worst places before, now being just 6th. Hope Ireland sends unique things. Luktelk. Ukraine also did AMAZING. PERFECT. PERFECT, PURE PERFECTION. No words, no need to explain. Greece was undeserved, same as Norway (idk why they got last) Finland, Estonia, Latvia and more. I really think that with 100 points, UK could have easily breached top 10. Idk why people hate Brits so much. Don't forget underrated stuff too such as Serbia and more. And, to conclude this, THIS WAS A CRAZY YEAR. I HAVE NO WORDS. We almost got a threat for a worst case scenario, but top 4 avoided it and did it flawlessly. i don't think people hate brits it was just a really meh performance, i wouldn't say deserving of no points atall as it wasn't the worst performance but vocally not great and performance wise only the end was memorable, the in the box just felt like a 2000s music video. The UK has many amazing performers (Olly is but not vocally, more festival dance type stuff) i don't know why they struggle so much to pick the right one.

We love ESC too Much wouldn't of ran as intended because there was no way he was going on stage after all that. A huge fucking mess this year. Never know this much controversy around the show. Netherlands being punished (probably) unfairly, Israel getting max televote points from several countries because of politics (I’ve heard much talk online of people who don’t even watch Eurovision who claimed they were gonna vote for Israel out of spite in the UK), Martin getting boos, Nemo accidentally breaking the trophy. (It’s also the first time since at least 2019 when the bookies favourite hasn’t won)
Actually for the Netherlands incident, the Swedish camerawoman was harassing Joost. She was filming him with his consent and also in a room where photography isn’t permitted. He kept telling her to stop but ignored. She finally did when he did a gesture to the camera, not hit the woman. Another thing I heard about the incident is how he also snapped when making a dead parent joke

I think Norway and Georgia were really underrated and the ''juries'' robbed my favourite Croatia of their first win ever. Anyways, I'm proud of Ireland and Portugal being in the top 10. I hope sommething changes in the EBU and I hope for jury reform because the gap between Switzerland and France (over 150 points was too high) and mabe 60/40. @flower8301 I feel like you are the one not getting it. Firstly, you didn't adress nemo with the correct pronouns again. Nemo goes by they/them. You are voting to help your favorite contestant. That doesn't mean your favorite will always win. This and last year the jury winner won, while not being the public favorite. The 2 years prior were both won by the televote winner, while not being the jury favorite. That's just how it goes sometimes.

Funny enough, it was introduced over 40 years before televoting was. You mean the year they introduced the televotes since that was in 1997. Everything before that was jury only. Or maybe you are talking about 2010 when they reintroduced the jury since removing it in 2003 was the worst decision in eurovision history. If people stopped voting they would go back to jury only as they did for 41 years... Its infact the first time someone that wasnt top 2 in the televote got first place over all, but I still dont see the issue. Nemo was the best performer on the night and rightfully won. Maybe next year the televote favorite wins again. Maybe we even have a joint decision which has been pretty rare lately. I am excited to find out and you are going to stay bitter. :)

I'm sorry but seeing a man singing a cool rock music with normal/good vocals winning against a guy who can perfectly sing while running and still it opera notes while having some very fast rap parts would have make me mad. i will clearly say it, 2023 and 2024 people's favourite didn't have good vocals compared to the winners Loreen was kinda off pitch during the final, but she was extremely good during the semi final, Kaarija couldn't even sing that well while dancing. Same for this year, Marko was good, but even if it was another contest, Nemo got the voice, nemo got the lungs since he was a kid, and I don't care what style he has, I prefer talent than just "oh oh funny people's favourite" To finish, this isn't a hate comment, this is just a comment to make people realize that ESC is a "song" contest, testing people's voices. People's favourite usually aren't that good tbh, and even if they are good, talent will never replace people's tastes

I didn't see the flags part, Iolanda really seemed pissed. I saw her performance and I immediately though something was off comparing to the previous ones. I would really want to know what did happen before the show
I'm going to get flagged for spamming , cuz I just keep having to tell people what happened :') One of the countries was harassing other countries, it was the delegation AND the broadcaster for you know who. The countries harassed were: Portugal, Netherlands, Ireland, Switzerland and Greece. (At least these were the 5 reported on news and tiktoks made by press there) After the Netherlands DQ on Saturday afternoon an emergency meeting had to be called, at least Portugal and Ireland were threatning to withdraw due to the harassment. Iolanda was probably pissed at WTV happened in that meeting, Because, in the end of the day what we know is: Netherlands got DQ'd, Portugal got censored, and the offenders ? Nothing happened to them. Iolanda got censored after wearing nails with palestinian motifs and saying "peace will prevail" at the end of her performance. Eurovision didn't upload her performance on the youtube channel until the televote was closed. And even then, only uploaded the performance after heavy pressure from the Portuguese broadcaster. What happened to Joost was clearly done on purpose, the person was trying to get a reaction out of him, and when he didn't hit her or get violent, the gesture he made was enough. All because he said "why not?" during a press conference when someone told you know who, that they didn't have to answer a question. He dared ask a simple question. After the flag parade (practice I believe) the incident with Joost happens. Then the emergency meeting the day after that. It's clear that all of this is connected. The victims are all getting penalized and the harassers got an amazing televote score and no Joost. Notice how the 5 countries complaining of harassment were fan favorites, the only fan favorite that didn't complain was Croatia (As far as I know at least, didn't read any reports mentioning them) Nemo in the end repeats that peace will prevail. It was really wholesome of him, they really tried to cut him off when he said that :')

Probably the meeting was happening around that time, and when it came to him rehearsing, they have taken him out. Anyways The footage should be released of what happened. The camara person was recording I think.

Concerning the video of the grand final, besides being posted late on UA-cam the video posted on FB and Instagram is the one of the semi-final as it was the one of the grand final (no nails with the Palestian keffiyeh pattern on them). I tried to comment that on Instagram but the comments are blocked.

Croatia won, the Netherlands should not have been banned. Abolish jury voting again, we had only people's votes from 1997-2009 with no jury interference.
Switzerland won and thank god for juries otherwise that genocidal country would've won..... if NL didn't disqualified, they would've won televotes, but unfortunately due to their disqualification, all NL votes went to croatia
That period was just poor. If we go back to televote only, I’m out. Like the televotes just gave Portugal 18 points and Finland over 30. The Code was a deserved winner. That Rim Ting song was more or less a watered down copy of a Rammstein tune. It was a party song. And party songs often get lots of points from the televotes. But on the other hand, the juries have to change. 5 «uniform» members is not good enough.

I am heartbroken, around 3 months ago I put it in my calendar to watch Eurovision, because one of my favourite artists, Joost Klein, was gonna perform. I have been following this season so closely, over 10 songs which were my absolute favorites were in the finale. And then everything happened. I just couldnt mentally handle it to watch the Eurovision. EBU truely ruined my week and my excitement. United by Joost, he didn't deserve this

For a competition that's supposedly not political they do everything they can to show they're political from only banning politics they don't like and promoting others to banning artists who voice their opposition to having jurys who vote based on politics.

I am happy for Switzerland, truly. It blew me away that Nemo was able to do all that stage work and still find the breath and control to sing. That said, Croatia deserved the win. It would have been their first win. Armenia being top 10 made me happy. Norway got robbed. Netherlands' DQ was utterly pathetic and I know Joost was non-violent but I will be violent for Joost.

In my opinion, some of the songs were great but Nemo has one of those great songs. Also, they’re an extremely talented performer that deserved the win (The other winners in my book were Baby Lasagna and Joost). Plus, The Code is my 2nd favorite after Doomsday Blue, which I find Bambie Thug an icon and now one of my favorite artists

Never know this much controversy around the show. Netherlands being punished (probably) unfairly, Israel getting max televote points from several countries because of politics (I’ve heard much talk online of people who don’t even watch Eurovision who claimed they were gonna vote for Israel out of spite in the UK), Martin getting boos, Nemo accidentally breaking the trophy.
(It’s also the first time since at least 2019 when the bookies favourite hasn’t won)
Actually for the Netherlands incident, the Swedish camerawoman was harassing Joost. She was filming him with his consent and also in a room where photography isn’t permitted. He kept telling her to stop but ignored. She finally did when he did a gesture to the camera, not hit the woman. Another thing I heard about the incident is how he also snapped when making a dead parent joke

Nemo certainly broke the record for lowest televote place to ever win, but i do not understand how that in any way is a justification for the hate they are receiving. They still won fairly.
It also doesnt make me wonder why i should vote, because nemo would have lost without the televote points they received. 226 is really not a low number and without them. Croatia would have won the contest.

Firstly, you didn't adress nemo with the correct pronouns again. Nemo goes by they/them.
You are voting to help your favorite contestant. That doesn't mean your favorite will always win. This and last year the jury winner won, while not being the public favorite. The 2 years prior were both won by the televote winner, while not being the jury favorite.
That's just how it goes sometimes.

There are no "different opinions" on human rights.
Jury voting was always a thing. Funny enough, it was introduced over 40 years before televoting was.
You mean the year they introduced the televotes since that was in 1997. Everything before that was jury only.
Or maybe you are talking about 2010 when they reintroduced the jury since removing it in 2003 was the worst decision in eurovision history.
If people stopped voting they would go back to jury only as they did for 41 years...
Its infact the first time someone that wasnt top 2 in the televote got first place over all, but I still dont see the issue.
Nemo was the best performer on the night and rightfully won. Maybe next year the televote favorite wins again. Maybe we even have a joint decision which has been pretty rare lately. I am excited to find out and you are going to stay bitter. :)

I'm sorry but seeing a man singing a cool rock music with normal/good vocals winning against a guy who can perfectly sing while running and still it opera notes while having some very fast rap parts would have make me mad.

Loreen was kinda off pitch during the final, but she was extremely good during the semi final, Kaarija couldn't even sing that well while dancing.
Same for this year, Marko was good, but even if it was another contest, Nemo got the voice, nemo got the lungs since he was a kid, and I don't care what style he has, I prefer talent than just "oh oh funny people's favourite"
To finish, this isn't a hate comment, this is just a comment to make people realize that ESC is a "song" contest, testing people's voices. People's favourite usually aren't that good tbh, and even if they are good, talent will never replace people's tastes

One of the countries was harassing other countries, it was the delegation AND the broadcaster for you know who.
The countries harassed were: Portugal, Netherlands, Ireland, Switzerland and Greece. (At least these were the 5 reported on news and tiktoks made by press there)
After the Netherlands DQ on Saturday afternoon an emergency meeting had to be called, at least Portugal and Ireland were threatning to withdraw due to the harassment.
Iolanda was probably pissed at WTV happened in that meeting, Because, in the end of the day what we know is:
Netherlands got DQ'd, Portugal got censored, and the offenders ? Nothing happened to them.
Iolanda got censored after wearing nails with palestinian motifs and saying "peace will prevail" at the end of her performance. Eurovision didn't upload her performance on the youtube channel until the televote was closed. And even then, only uploaded the performance after heavy pressure from the Portuguese broadcaster.
What happened to Joost was clearly done on purpose, the person was trying to get a reaction out of him, and when he didn't hit her or get violent, the gesture he made was enough.
All because he said "why not?" during a press conference when someone told you know who, that they didn't have to answer a question.
He dared ask a simple question. After the flag parade (practice I believe) the incident with Joost happens.
Then the emergency meeting the day after that.
It's clear that all of this is connected. The victims are all getting penalized and the harassers got an amazing televote score and no Joost. Notice how the 5 countries complaining of harassment were fan favorites, the only fan favorite that didn't complain was Croatia (As far as I know at least, didn't read any reports mentioning them)
Nemo in the end repeats that peace will prevail. It was really wholesome of him, they really tried to cut him off when he said that :')

Concerning the video of the grand final, besides being posted late on UA-cam the video posted on FB and Instagram is the one of the semi-final as it was the one of the grand final (no nails with the Palestian keffiyeh pattern on them). I tried to comment that on Instagram but the comments are blocked.
@@Valathia thanks for breaking it down. i also felt like it was such a show of selective morals when they said it wasn‘t allowed to bring flags or merchandise from non-competing countries (a very broad description especially when they only wanted to censor palestinian flags) but then within the first 15mins of the grand finals they show a person with an ecuadorian scarf for whatever reason and they don‘t even show this person only once, they kept cutting back to them a few times. the ebu is such a joke and the controversies keep piling up this year, i really hope to see at least a few of the ebu‘s representatives resign after this shitshow

Croatia won, the Netherlands should not have been banned. Abolish jury voting again, we had only people's votes from 1997-2009 with no jury interference.
I don't think it should be abolished, but it should have less weight. Let's say, 25% of the points instead of 50%.
Switzerland won and thank god for juries otherwise that genocidal country would've won..... if NL didn't disqualified, they would've won televotes, but unfortunately due to their disqualification, all NL votes went to croatia

Like the televotes just gave Portugal 18 points and Finland over 30. The Code was a deserved winner. That Rim Ting song was more or less a watered down copy of a Rammstein tune. It was a party song. And party songs often get lots of points from the televotes.
But on the other hand, the juries have to change. 5 «uniform» members is not good enough.

I am heartbroken, around 3 months ago I put it in my calendar to watch Eurovision, because one of my favourite artists, Joost Klein, was gonna perform.
I have been following this season so closely, over 10 songs which were my absolute favorites were in the finale.
And then everything happened. I just couldnt mentally handle it to watch the Eurovision.

For a competition that's supposedly not political they do everything they can to show they're political from only banning politics they don't like and promoting others to banning artists who voice their opposition to having jurys who vote based on politics.

I am happy for Switzerland, truly. It blew me away that Nemo was able to do all that stage work and still find the breath and control to sing.
That said, Croatia deserved the win. It would have been their first win. Armenia being top 10 made me happy. Norway got robbed. Netherlands' DQ was utterly pathetic and I know Joost was non-violent but I will be violent for Joost.

In my opinion, some of the songs were great but Nemo has one of those great songs. Also, they’re an extremely talented performer that deserved the win (The other winners in my book were Baby Lasagna and Joost). Plus, The Code is my 2nd favorite after Doomsday Blue, which I find Bambie Thug an icon and now one of my favorite artists
