Excellent stuff, my mother was a seamstress at the Palitoy factory in Coalville, Leicestershire. Brings back a lot of memories for me.
can you tell her when she was still seamstress in palitoy what kind of fabric did they use before the deep sea diver when I got mine from restore The inside was peeling
@@shoutatakeuchi9145 Sorry Shouta, she has been gone for a long time now.
oh ✅
GOT THIS ONE..1970S..ONE OF MY FAVORITES..NOW GOING COLLECT! GREAT INFO!!❤
Back in the day I used to use my grandmother's old dolly tub filled with water
Have been scuba diving for over 20 years and last August spotted a splendid looking Action Man figure in a dive shop and decided that I wanted one for myself. Have just purchased a HM Forces Royal Navy Diver and currently looking to complement this with a A.M. Deep Sea Siebe Gorman Hard Hat Diver.
Thanks for the great vids restoring this figure and his kit, excellent advice and look forward to getting mine displayed.
When I was nine-tenish, I always had a bath on Sunday (school week) The next day I got such a telling off from my mum as she had run a bath after me and had sat down on boot weight from my diver! The poor soul was forever banned from the bath and never went to sea again. I think he's still in my attic hoping for a flood......or a burst pipe.
g2macs Sunday bath night! I remember that 😂
Yes it works, I had this toy and remember taking it to an outdoor pool and using it. There was a picture of me holding it but sadly it has gone.
And I love your videos
What does it say when a toy over 80 years old can be touched up and refitted like new like that.
THAT is quality that will never be held to task, again.
I picked up a few of my own, and have been having great luck in bringing old Joes back to service.
So far, one to three of each, except for Tom Stone. (Still on the lookout for a good priced one.)
I don't think they are quite 80 years old. Just past 50 🤔🤣
great dedication to the craft, he looks great!
Seriously, I have been a subscriber for some time and enjoy all your videos. Today I was honestly blown away by the amazing work you do. Kudos to you.
+Mike Lewis Thanks Mike! I do the best I can on all these restorations. They are great fun to do.
That looks fantastic! And reminds me of the diving Action Man that I had but I’d actually forgotten about the diving float.
at last part 2 is here, been looking forward to this 1!
Great job. I reckon the shoulder straps crossed over front and back.
Burnt umber is the paint you need
really well worth it. restoration deep sea diver. I wouldn't put it in water just in case. toy polloi brilliant.
+drawingbyhand I haven't tried it yet in water. I doubt I will.
I like that even though you have the brand new part you still try and fix the old one .thankyou
Very impressive work ,looking good , bet you never heard this before had this as a child ( with a shark ) welljell.
G.I. Joe here in the states had an O ring to keep water out of the helmet. Also the suit was a rubberized cloth.
You don't need a kit. Just some elastic. It's not complicated to do.
Great job, I actually use the lemon juice and salt trick to remove rust from rivets too
Great idea using the Lego steering wheel!!..just tried it and looks good 👍
The belts should be crossed over to make an x front and back, also the diver had a sledge hammer as well in his kit, great restoration though wants me to go through my thirty or forty I've got since I was seven, so about fifty years worth.
Fantastic work Dave.
always wanted this set, I has the helmet and the outer collar since i was a kid but i never had the inner collar or the weights sadly, still looking
Great job! It looks new again!
Parabéns pelo vídeo! Recuperação perfeita!
According to the instructions leaflet, the belt shoulder straps should be crossed over forming a cross in the middle.
A few people have mentioned that. Thank you.
Great repair as always however the harness should cross his chest not just over each shoulder...
Toy polloi: does this
Me: paints back hair and eyebrows with a sharpie and puts tape on the rips of the suit
Hi. A suggestion: If you put the piece you want to clean, in this case the action man's head, with oxy 10 in direct sunlight, all the ink marks come out.
Nice work, but you're missing the "deadly killer shark" that came with the outfit.
+Harry Ford The shark came with a different set. The deep sea diver never had the shark. Would have been nice if he did.
Mine came with an octopus if I remember right.
What outfit came with the shark? I remember, I had the deep sea outfit and the shark. I don't remember having a frogman or the likes.
Fantastic :D Hope to see him return to the water in a future vid :D
+Moonbase Mego If I can find a good place to do it, I will.
If you there say hello
con un secador de cabello,,tambien podrias hacerlo,,saludos
I recall there is a bead that looks like the tap
What about a handle from a doll bathtub?
great video onces again cant wait see the sailor next, as for the sea wolf I managed pick almost complete one just ned cutters at the front and sea wolf turned green all over ,don't know why col
+action man col I will be starting on the sea wolf next. Trying to find parts is proving hard work.
that is true hard get where you not buy multi off the sub to get parts ,what bits do you need col
Lots. Small front claw, front claw mounting disc, the bits the air hose attach to on the top. The pumps little stopper, fins. Parts for the periscope, and possibly a new dome as the hinge is busted. I'm working on the first part of the video now with what I have found so far.
That red tap, how about a slice of a LEGO technic Axel?
I used mine during bath time.
Do you still now? I'm sometimes tempted :D
Hi...four years too late, lol....if you still have this in your collection, to hide the ink moustache, flock him with a full beard.
Those diving suits were coming apart like that in the late 70s when i had one too.
Could you get an action man command center to restore? I havent seen one since i had one as a kid. Where it went i have no idea.
+jsnsk101 I would love to restore one of those. I've not seen one since I had one as a child.
Great vid - a proper labour of love!
+Mr Bristow it really was. Lots to work on.
Good end result though - well done!
deep sea diver swimming with a raincoat?
Great restoration vids! Wasn't Action Man originally GI Joe?
Yes, he was originally named Gi Joe in the US in 1964, which continued, however, when the Palitoy company produced them in the UK in 1966, he became action man, which ran until 1984 as a 12 inch figure.
Buying another suit is cheaper maybe.
For another project where you can find a replacement suit we have in the Netherlands a very good stain remover.
The brand is HG.
They have a own website
nl.hg.eu/producten/textiel/hg-vlekweg-voor-roestvlekken
Can I suggest that as you plan to just use this for display. Has your partner got any make up that you could blend to just make the head a little more less inked ?.
+John Leightell I like the slightly dirty look. I'm a wabi sabi collector. It doesn't have to be perfect to be in my collection.
That's my flaw to some extent shame really. My biggest problem is I flit between projects.
Do you use knock-off or repro Lego for the substitute replacement parts? Cause it always bothered me, original Lego parts are expensive.
I used whatever I can buy cheaply on ebay. So it could be some from each. Just whatever is the best price is what I go for. Cheers
@@toypolloi Thanks for the reply. I like that you use high quality substitute parts to restore these rare pieces.
Nice! My diver doesent have the (real) hair like yours does, can it be an earlier diver?
Early versions of Action Man had painted hair. Check out the Action Man HQ website for details on the history of them.
Hey if you still have the deep sea diver can I have it cause I To GI Joe's And one of them doesn't have clothes and tomorrow is my birthday so can I have the deep sea diver
If it's his birthday he should have it
You are amazing! Where did you learn this?
Thanks. It's all self taught. I just like tinkering with toys.
now hurry up with part 1 of the sea wolf mr polloi ;)

Very nice, but shouldnt he have a sledgehammer?
+grimmyx22 He has one. It's tucked in his belt.
