Excellent stuff, my mother was a seamstress at the Palitoy factory in Coalville, Leicestershire. Brings back a lot of memories for me.

Have been scuba diving for over 20 years and last August spotted a splendid looking Action Man figure in a dive shop and decided that I wanted one for myself. Have just purchased a HM Forces Royal Navy Diver and currently looking to complement this with a A.M. Deep Sea Siebe Gorman Hard Hat Diver.
Thanks for the great vids restoring this figure and his kit, excellent advice and look forward to getting mine displayed.

When I was nine-tenish, I always had a bath on Sunday (school week) The next day I got such a telling off from my mum as she had run a bath after me and had sat down on boot weight from my diver! The poor soul was forever banned from the bath and never went to sea again. I think he's still in my attic hoping for a flood......or a burst pipe.

Yes it works, I had this toy and remember taking it to an outdoor pool and using it. There was a picture of me holding it but sadly it has gone.

What does it say when a toy over 80 years old can be touched up and refitted like new like that.
THAT is quality that will never be held to task, again.
I picked up a few of my own, and have been having great luck in bringing old Joes back to service.
So far, one to three of each, except for Tom Stone. (Still on the lookout for a good priced one.)

G.I. Joe here in the states had an O ring to keep water out of the helmet. Also the suit was a rubberized cloth.

The belts should be crossed over to make an x front and back, also the diver had a sledge hammer as well in his kit, great restoration though wants me to go through my thirty or forty I've got since I was seven, so about fifty years worth.

Hi. A suggestion: If you put the piece you want to clean, in this case the action man's head, with oxy 10 in direct sunlight, all the ink marks come out.

Nice work, but you're missing the "deadly killer shark" that came with the outfit.

    • @toypolloi

+Harry Ford The shark came with a different set. The deep sea diver never had the shark. Would have been nice if he did.

Lots. Small front claw, front claw mounting disc, the bits the air hose attach to on the top. The pumps little stopper, fins. Parts for the periscope, and possibly a new dome as the hinge is busted. I'm working on the first part of the video now with what I have found so far.

    • @rockinbillyboy
      @rockinbillyboy 5 років тому +2

Yes, he was originally named Gi Joe in the US in 1964, which continued, however, when the Palitoy company produced them in the UK in 1966, he became action man, which ran until 1984 as a 12 inch figure.

Buying another suit is cheaper maybe.
For another project where you can find a replacement suit we have in the Netherlands a very good stain remover.
    The brand is HG.
    They have a own website
