it's amazing how many toys, figures etc have been binned over the years and ended up in land fills, now worth quite a bit

I remember waking up Christmas morning in the 1977 and this was one of my main presents, it was awesome though I never got to use it properly as our avacado bath was not deep enough, thanks for video and the memories it brought back

I thought using super glue to tighten pegs was pretty neat, but I also learned form other videos that peroxide removes yellow from old plastics, lighter fluid works just as good as methanol, and legos can fix anything
From watching a few channels, a good way of cleaning and polishing old perspex/acrylic is to use liquid floor polish. You dip the plastic in, shake of the excess and then cover it with something to keep the dust off until its dried. Seems to bring everything up like new.
One small thing - Superglue is not waterproof; it degrades quite quickly if wet. If you want to perform sea trials, I'd use liquid poly for seams, and hot melt glue for large areas.
Loving these old restorations. Action Man was a very durable toy.

@@toypolloi the toy he's licenced from GIJoe classic was also quite durable and the OG 12in line allowed for production upgrades done by Hasbro's gobal license holders to flow back stream. the Adventure line got the improved eyes and updated body with sniper pose.

looking good so far mr polloi, I am always keeping an eye out for sea wolf bits for you but like you said, near impossible to find! I thought it might also be worth mentioning that palitoy often used poly cement to glue many of its action man bits and bobs so might be worth looking into for further gluing on the wolf but of course if its not an original part its unlikely to adhere, looking at the bottom of the sea wolf where you split it, I am pretty sure poly cement was used so use that knowledge if you so wish ;)

As it's a very smooth toy, you may be able to wash it better using a kitchen sponge instead of the toothbrush.

While you clearly have a pretty steady hand wouldn't much of the drilling go a little easier and be less likely to be at an off angle if you started off with a small pilot hole? And as always great video.
+Merlin Tolstyk I did mark a starting hole on these, just didn't show it as the video was getting a bit long.
@toypolloi I'm not sure if you have one or not but a rotary tool such as a Dremel would be very helpful in your restorations. They can really save a great deal of time. Cheers.
I do have one. But I like using a drill as well :D
Use Revel Plastik Glue. That will fix the Parts for a longer Time than Superglue.
Could do with a rear fin if you have on for sale
Seal the ink decals with clear lacquer. Acrylic spray like from Halfords. Tge decals won't run if immersed in water.
It would have been a great solution to drill out a hole in both fins, glue the transparent rod in 1 fin, make the hole rod through the hull to the other end, cut it to size so it judt sticks out, then glue the other fin to that end. Now both fins are connected together.
If you did that the fins would not move independently. Which is how they should work.

Use humberol poly glue much better than superglue mate .

What sort of plastic are the Action Man vehicles made of? Is it just hard polystyrene? I'm a bit surprised that he uses superglue.
I wonder what kind of plastic Action Man are made of myself, and if it is 3d printed, as well as if it is ABS, or PLA plastic.
From that era, late 1970s-Early 1980s, the Sea Wolf would have been made from Rigid Polystyrene
A toy mall by me has 1 of these but it's white instead of gray

I wouldn't risk it myself. I like to be in control when I clean and deal with vintage toys.

It can also damage the plastic.
