MadSeasonShow it was amazing, very nostalgic for me, because this is the first expansion that I have ever played since my brother and I begun. Can’t wait for wrath. Thanks for the videos!!
Ulduar was the high-water mark for WoW, but TBC will still always be my favorite. It was kinda like an improved version of Vanilla, before the game started going in a radically different design direction.
@@seatecastronomy7427 August 27, I'll nolife to 60 over the weekend with my mate unless I can take a whole week off, and then slow roll the rest. Then I'll probably do some casual raiding and having fun with it all. That is if I can still enjoy the game over the nostalgia bump.
I started playing WoW in November 2006. A little too late to get into the Vanilla endgame as I didn't hit 60 until a week after Burning Crusade's release. I wasn't able to afford the expansion until the following February but once I set foot on the Hellfire Peinsula everything changed. It was nice knowing that I could finally keep up and hang with the big boys! It was still the same game, with added talents and abilities. The new dungeons were a refreshing experience. I still remember my first run through Hellfire Ramparts and Mana Tombs. I didn't get into my first raid till that following May. I joined a guild with the help of an old guildmate I leveled with in the months past. I'll never forget my first foray into Karazhan. Taking down Attumen felt like an accomplishment. I was part of the second raid team of our guild. We were ten rookie players trying to get it together like we were the B-team. We never gave up, though, and we caught up to the main raid team. We killed Prince not long after they did.
The fact about the community is so huge. Like, the introduction of cross server LFG in really killed a lot of that, since before to run dungeons you either had to run with your guild, or actually go talk to people. I didn't raid in TBC, but I ran heroics all the time. And as a tank who constantly ran heroics, I got a know a ton of people on my server, and had a reputation as "That Paladin Tank who knows every heroic 5 mans like the back of his hand". Then Wrath kind of killed that, since every heroic was so mind numbingly easy, it didn't matter. You didn't need to friend people who knew what they were doing. You didn't need to talk to anyone. With only raiding having challege left, you didn't need to really talk or communicate to anyone outside your guild
I don't even play WoW... Why am I here? Because this lore, and these stories, are amazing, to put it simply. How a whole 'nother world can form from a computer game is astonishing, and a wondrous sight to see.

I have to add one of my favorite memories of first walking through the portal... Turning around and seeing the sheer size of the portal from the Outland side compared to the Azeroth side. It was epic!
Don't worry about it taking so long to make a follow up to episode 1. This video was fantastic. The editing, the storytelling, and the whole narration of it was amazing. Well done dude.

I swear, the way he explains his opinions, the way he makes his videos... He is literally letting you live them! I love this guy ❤️ I hope you are working on part 3, Mad. Cheers, mate!
I came in mid-Wrath. To me, BC always looked the most creative xpan, and the one I had sadly, jealously missed. But I've bumped into more than one Vanilla-dog that hated BC. Their reason: that if you didn't get with, and stay with, a successful Raiding Guild right from the beginning, you were never gonna get through any end-game content. Incredible video. More please.
Hmmm idk if I agree. I started raiding later in tbc and I happened to get into a guild that was just starting to raid as well. I got to see end game content even though I was new to the game, hadn’t been raiding since the release and was playing feral dps(I was one of 3 feral dps on my server so you know how much it was played). Now I didn’t make it to sunwell and that was because the pre wrath patch released and people’s focus on raiding stopped. Now compared to wotlk yes it was much harder to say take breaks or come in later, but tbc did have catch up mechanics a bit later in the expansion so it wouldn’t have been impossible. The main difference was you were a lot more guild reliant so without one it would have been tough.
Jebus christ, I remember doing the god damn Netherdrake dailies for months upon months. But holy moly was it worth it when you got to mount that black Netherdrake. I've never felt as much of a king before as when I did that in Shattrath whilst everyone just looked upon you in envy (at least that's what I told myself and thought)
I felt this way with my ZA bear selling Bear runs weekly. Made so much gold and had a mount that you can't get anymore. Felt better than the netherdrake, although the netherdrake was very satisfying when you finished.
I don't really agree that Dungeon Finder was a must have addition to the game. It would have been better and totally accepted by the community if we had gotten this Group Finder that we nowadays use for Mythic Dungeons. Imo it works well and doesn't automatically group you up with randoms and teleport directly to the Dungeon. It could also work dynamically in a way that it would not show your group to Xrealm unless your own realm has low population online currently. So it would favour your own realm and only if wait time or logged in population is low enough it would start gathering people from other realms. Or it could be a tick box option also. Of course it wouldn't work well with current populations but back in WotLK it would have been better. Anyways awesome video.
I agree that i'd be fine with a group finder type of deal.... but honestly the only difference is the teleport that saves everyone time. In late WotLK it worked fantastic because almost everyone you matched up with was on your same server or at least one in your old "battlegroup". Which meant that you were still dealing with a much more limited pool of people and could still have a reputation as a good teammate/fun or a bad teammate/jerk. So there were still real consequences for your ongoing behavior. As opposed to later on when you would likely never see the same rando group again, which led to an increase in toxicity that was orders of magnitude greater than before. Because there were no consequences for being an ass.

People often talk, when speaking about the introduction of flying mounts, about how many requests there were of it, since vanilla flight paths were such a pain. But what I don't often see that represented is how amazing it felt to think about flying. Back then, it wasn't that common to have MMOs where you could fly, and MMOs were the biggest of worlds. So put yourself in our shoes and think what it felt to go "wow, flying surely would be epic, it would be amazing!" It was the kind of thing we sometimes thought was never gonna be introduced, not because it felt too convenient, but because it felt so epic and insane, that it was inconceivable! Obviously, the convenience was part of it, but I feel the fervor with which it was requested had a lot to do with the illusion of something so epic and foreign. A similar thing, though in smaller scale, happened during WotLK, regarding flying "in the old world," since it was so large compared to expansion continents... And then came Cataclysm.
Reason why flying was so cool in TBC? Blade's Edge Mountains that's all i need to say and those who played in TBC will know that having a flying was like showing a big fat middle finger for that zone(it was cool zone but damn it was pain to travel in there with ground mount).
Your video editing and storytelling in this is quite amazing. It felt like a documentary or a movie that brought back a lot of good memories and emotions! :) Keep up the amazing work! I loved this expansion (as it was my first expansion in WoW)

My memory might fail me but you could have mentioned Shattrath city, a neutral main hub for the expansion where alliance and horde alike could buy Haris Pilton's Gigantique bag side by side.

The amount of work you put into these are mind blowing. Thank you for all the nostalgia! I started playing WoW in early 2006. So many great times and memories, not to mention RL friendships.
The nostalgia! TBC was my favorite and paladin became a monster tank, was versatile and fun to play. Such a great change from healing being the only viable spec in vanilla. This makes me want to buy a computer and start playing again

November 2020 and I watched parts 1 and 2 of The Evolution of Warcraft. I loved them both! Thank you for making them. Please please MadSeasonShow make Part 3 and Part 4! I and I am sure thousands of others would love to see them!
I have so much nostalgia for BC. It was my personal big-time raiding expansion. Ran many guildie's alts through Karazhan (I did not alt a lot in BC) with my warlock. Merged with another guild and progressed past Mag, Gruul, and Vashj (I tanked Leotheras with Searing Pain) but broke up at Kael'thas. Then I switched classes and servers and was power-geared to be a guild's shadow priest mana battery for Hyjal and Black Temple; was given a Zul'Aman war bear on the last day it was available for my mana job. And cleared the Sunwell only just before Wrath launched (yeah, after nerfs). Thank you for this video, Maddy. Fond BC memories.
Project 60 and 70 if people do it is just plain stupid. Leveling in retail is absolutely nothing like vanilla or tbc even with all the restrictions they put on themselves for it. Plus they do disrupt roleplaying communities like Moonguard.
I love this type of video from you. You have incredible skill in editing and with your words, are able to provoke all those nostalgic memories from my early WoW days! Hope you do more!
First of all, congrats for your channel! I came upon it a few days ago and I have watched many videos! This is the first comment that I post, though I liked all your other videos! I shed tears for episode 1, where you presented vanilla, but in this one? Oh boy I was crying like a child! TBC was the game that evolved me from noob to hardcore raider. I remember every single quest, every faction, every raid. I remember crafting my epic elemental LW pieces, getting my first epic main hand from BGs, I remember my first flying mount and how I got a loan from friends in order to buy it! I remember the epic attunement for BT and MH, and the first time my guild killed Illidan, a few mounths before the WotLK pre-event... That's why I still proudly have my "Hand of A'dal" title on my char. Thanks for reminding me how great this expansion was. Thank you Blizzard for creating such a gem!
I put on one of your videos because it was comforting for my midday nap in my couch, and i ended up watching the whole thing with full attention, even getting nostalgic alobg the way for a expansion i never played! I somehow skipped TBC and i remember watching my brother and his friends play in the outland while i would sometimes look over their shoulders, but somehow never had the urge to play it, oh do i regret that after wathcing this! :D
What's funny is that it was the only legendary in the game that typically never went to the class it was designed for(hunters), it was the only legendary in the game to not be BiS(it was outdps'd by an epic bow from a much easier to kill boss earlier in the raid), and the world first drop went to a rogue(as did most of the subsequent ones). Hunters were the only class in the entire game for it's current history to never recieve a BiS legendary weapon until the new model for legendaries. They even gave new classes like Death Knight a BiS legendary.
The Burning Crusade was def the best of WoW for sure. Vanilla too, but TBC was something else. Loved the zones, the quests, the open world pvp all of it was great.
Man it's been almost 2 years you can't leave us hanging like this this was too good! Especially as a late comer to hear about how things were is so fascinating
This really feels like history, saving the story for future generations to learn about 😀 Would love an episode 3 but i am guessing these episodes take a LOT of work!
Man I really miss these times in wow. Vanilla was out when I was a senior in high school and TBC pretty soon after I graduated. I can’t even count the hours my friends and I spent playing at my apartment. My friend that got me into it started playing in the very beginning and by end of Vanilla had 4 geared lvl 60s. I was always in awe. I didn’t even get flying or max a profession until MoP because all I did was pvp. WoW is still great but back then it was fucking groundbreaking and so beyond anything I’d ever played. Just the thought of that many people being able to interact at once in a game was awesome. Thanks for the great video and a trip down memory lane.
Coming back watching all this before BC Classic comes out, that intro compilation to BC has made me wanna grab a boat and go conquer new lands. Amazing work! ROOOOOAR!
Just wanna add that BT/hyjal raid was released may 22nd, and kael thas world first kill was on may 25th. As in no one could enter the new raids upon their release because simply missing the Kael Thas vial for the attunement still.

It's nearly impossible to express how grateful I am to be able to refeel these moments thanks to your effort! Thank you for these vids and for those whicht are still in the making!
Great video. Loved this expansion. Looking forward to the next episode.
One thing I realize as I watch your incredible videos is how casual a player I was. Amazing memories none the less. Thank you!
My memory might fail me but you could have mentioned Shattrath city, a neutral main hub for the expansion where alliance and horde alike could buy Haris Pilton's Gigantique bag side by side.
vilestine and what about the ressist gear grind!
Love the vid though!
That was indeed a new addition that we weren't used to from Vanilla. Sharing a main hub like that together with the other faction.
And the epic rock concerts of Lv 70 ETC band! XD
Argent dawn and the neutrel area near AQ as well the no attacking in shattrath was from pve players complaining about getting killed in those areas.
I'm watching this every single day when I am going to bed. It is so relaxing. Dont get me wrong I love your content and this is my favourite video. Keep it up!!!
I can't even imagine how much effort does it take to make a video like this, you have my biggest respect, sir
Man, I must say, i LOVE your nostaligc series. Whether it's Time Warp or Evolution of WoW, they're all great. I love the pace, music and footage you chose for those. Also, your narration and background are all on point. I hope you keep doing the great work!
Day 1128, still waiting for the WOTLK episode.
The amount of work you put into these are mind blowing. Thank you for all the nostalgia! I started playing WoW in early 2006. So many great times and memories, not to mention RL friendships.
I got bc the day of my grandma's funeral. She raised me. It helped me through so many issues.
Thanks for these, huge nostalgia trips. Just hearing the music almost makes me tear up.
The nostalgia! TBC was my favorite and paladin became a monster tank, was versatile and fun to play. Such a great change from healing being the only viable spec in vanilla. This makes me want to buy a computer and start playing again
"This is the greatest show" Man.. you make amazing work here, I hope the rest will follow! Thank you!!
Outland was where my dot lok became a powerhouse, and I finally started raiding. No more begging for an MC spot
I think I’ve watched this full video at least 10 times. I’m feeling the TBC HYPE!
TBC= a time to never forget! Highlight in the timeline
This guy needs more subs and views. We all need to tell everyone about his channel. He does so much work and put so much effort to bring us great content.. So get his name out there!Awesome work MadSeason. keep it up!
I never enjoyed WoW as much as I did during TBC. Having a total blast in Vanilla Classic right now, so can't wait for possible classic TBC. Best time of WoW imo.
Moim zdaniem warto.
November 2020 and I watched parts 1 and 2 of The Evolution of Warcraft. I loved them both! Thank you for making them. Please please MadSeasonShow make Part 3 and Part 4! I and I am sure thousands of others would love to see them!
i could watch this all day
I have so much nostalgia for BC.
Think MadSeason just crashed MoonGuard with people getting hyped for Project 70
I really don't get why they used RP servers for that. They just get flooded by people who hate rp.
...What?
They use it because of sharding or phasing or whatever you call it when there are no people around you in the world
So, why are people griefing people that are minding their own business?
Project 60 and 70 if people do it is just plain stupid. Leveling in retail is absolutely nothing like vanilla or tbc even with all the restrictions they put on themselves for it. Plus they do disrupt roleplaying communities like Moonguard.
I love this type of video from you. You have incredible skill in editing and with your words, are able to provoke all those nostalgic memories from my early WoW days! Hope you do more!
By far the best expansion due to it's challenges, it improved on already great game.
Please make wrath of the lich king video. TBC is the best for for a lot LK is their 1st expansion that they got to play hardcore xD
Oh man, that "First hunter legendary" lie, don't you know? EVERYTHING IS A HUNTER WEAPON! :D
It was a Rogue weapon :P
What's funny is that it was the only legendary in the game that typically never went to the class it was designed for(hunters), it was the only legendary in the game to not be BiS(it was outdps'd by an epic bow from a much easier to kill boss earlier in the raid), and the world first drop went to a rogue(as did most of the subsequent ones). Hunters were the only class in the entire game for it's current history to never recieve a BiS legendary weapon until the new model for legendaries. They even gave new classes like Death Knight a BiS legendary.
tHunterfury, nuff said.
I still remember stepping through the Dark Portal and feeling the scope of the new world laid out before me. Intimidating and awe inducing
Does anyone else love this dudes videos right before bed. The voice be so soothing lol
The Burning Crusade was def the best of WoW for sure. Vanilla too, but TBC was something else. Loved the zones, the quests, the open world pvp all of it was great.
Great video, you really put so much effort into your videos and you deserve way more subscribers than you have
Man it's been almost 2 years you can't leave us hanging like this this was too good! Especially as a late comer to hear about how things were is so fascinating
"If you're prepared that is" I love MadSeason, he is the light in my life :D
Going back and rewatching these, such a shame we never got a wrath one
I remember walking threw the dark portal and fighting on the other side that shit was epic
This really feels like history, saving the story for future generations to learn about 😀 Would love an episode 3 but i am guessing these episodes take a LOT of work!
loved every second of this video
51:22 "if you ASSk someone"
i see what you did there
xD
Battle Chinchilla who couldn’t miss those butts
Must follow
Absolutely loving this series. Excellent quality. 10/10
I started my adventures with this expansion...
Coming back watching all this before BC Classic comes out, that intro compilation to BC has made me wanna grab a boat and go conquer new lands. Amazing work! ROOOOOAR!
Are we nearing the release of, "The Evolution of World of Warcraft Episode 3: Wrath of the Lich King"? Please. I'm dyin' here, Mad.
It shows that you did a ton of work. A nearly-hour-long video is no simple task. I can't wait for the next one!
"Altought no expansion rules forever..."
I see what you did there. ^^
Whenever I get a rush of hype for classic tbc, i come back and watch this video. So excited to play it for the first time
Any specific plans for a Pt3, my lord? As for I am prepared!
Just wanna add that BT/hyjal raid was released may 22nd, and kael thas world first kill was on may 25th. As in no one could enter the new raids upon their release because simply missing the Kael Thas vial for the attunement still.
