      Just a few tips remove the chalaza from the egg and add the essence to the eggs before adding it to the other mixture it helps to cut the eggy scent.

      Just making healthy criticism or giving a tip though, I know some persons don't care for suggestions nor corrections. I would suggest that five spice not for cakes, it is for savory foods , like fried rice and chowmein noodles .

    • @cookingwithash
      @cookingwithash  4 роки тому +1

      Hi hun any brand of wine or dark rum is fine , now there is only two way I can think of 1 poke some holes on the top of the icing and gentle pour your alcohol into the cake and just cove the holes up back with icing or some sort of edible decorations, 2nd add the cake to a pan that is a little bigger than the cake and pour the run directly into the pan and the cake should absorb it , let me know the outcome, happy holidays ❤️

      You can turn the cake over onto plastic wrap..so the bottom part is ti the top. You can then poke some holes in the cake with a skewer and use a spoon to pour a mixture of rum and wine on the cake. After it is absorbed simply turn the cake over so the icing will be back at the top. Hope this helps.

    Ok this is my first attempt at making Guyanese Black Cake...😦
    My husband is Guyanese i am French Canadian of course I have to follow his mother's recipe so were going to be banging heads in the kitchen because its Mom's way or no way😏
    My question is the carmel or black sugar
    ( brown sugar and wine mixture ) is it a must that we do this?? His mother is 89 yrs old maybe she forgot to add this in her chicken scratch written recipe 🤔 lol
    I am so confused about this recipe 😕
    We did our fruit mixture with the rum, wine port and brandy a month ago and we have 2 jars with 6 cups of it in each jar so were going to put one jar away for next Christmas
    We have a small oven that hold and will bake 2 cake pans I also have a Convection Oven thinking I will put a 9x12 glass baking dish so how long would I bake that in the Convection Oven?
    Needing to Thank you for your videos...I am going with your recipe and I am going to follow it for the 9x12 cake...and he will follow his Mothers recipe for the 2 cake pans...
    Wish me luck😉

      U got this sis u don’t have to do the step with the sugar and wine u can substitute it with store bought burnt sugar or some people use browning this helps to give the cake that rich dark color, for the oven I would go with the same temperature I suggested in the video just keep and eye on the cakes when a toothpick comes out clean u r good 👍 please let me know what is the end results 😍

      That’s the correct measurement hun 1Lb of all-purpose flour is equivalent to 3 2/3 cups your measurement will depend upon the type of flour you're using because of the varying densities of different flour types if u use a scale and weigh your flour and then measure it out in cups u will have 3 2/3 cups for a lb hope this was helpful
